In the 60s and 70s. There used to be houses on south side of alligator alley west of L28 cut off canal. In late 80s. The state bought and demolished houses. Also airplanes used to drop their suitcases out of planes. If you know what i mean.. lol
The army Corp of engineers removed those homes and reclaimed all that land. It’s all now part of the picayune strand. A lot of folks go back there to shoot off their guns.
I lived 5 mins south of Immokalee back in the 90s. I worked as a ac installer in the orange tree development. Built my house on 2 acres of off 16th Ave n.e. just south of the development. It was a booming area when I left after 2001
I’ve always been in awe with the Fakahatchee. If you ever did one of these types of videos just on the Faxahatchee and it’s surrounding area I’d love to see it.
I remember when my dad and his friends bought a bunch of lots in Montura Ranch back in '86 or '87. We used to visit a few months out of the year. There was a clubhouse with a pool, but I recall a tragic incident where one of the kids drowned, which made all the parents wary of letting us swim alone. We also had ATVs, which we called three-wheelers back then. Those were fun times. I recently went back to the area, and it's disappointing to see what a dump it's become. It's funny because my dad and I were reminiscing about this over the weekend. He mentioned that they were offered lots in Cape Coral and Montura too, but they were told a new airport was being built in Montura, so they chose to buy there. They built a few houses and sold everything off in the '90s. We laughed because who knows what the Cape Coral lots and house would have been worth by now
When i lived in fla back in the 80s (suncoast estates to be exact) i met a girl from immokalee, she was a straght up hillbilly, we were together 3 yrs, then she went back there, never saw her since,

We don't live there because the Feds made our family move in 1972 in the middle of i75 on alligator alley on turner river road. To make more a reserve.
Down the shell road at the end and turn right on the cement bridge it used to be wooden and cross it down in there a ways on your right, would catch the bus on the end towards the interstate at 4:30 In the morning for school and go to Immokalee and stay all day,my dad worked for Wooten air boat .I was born in Fort Myers at Lee Memorial. Family and friends would come out there on the holiday and take the swamp buggies out and hunt,no neighbors and no electricity, o home I remember those days, our house was near the range station back there ,haven't been back, only on Google maps brings back so many memorys.
Very informative video. What's interesting about that region of Florida is that only Belle Glade has a population over 10,000 people in the Everglades, compared to the coasts which are jammed packed with millions of people. The South Florida inland region between I-75 and I-95 is just a completely different world. Almost hard to believe sometimes that they are both part of the same region in the same state.

I'm in Minnesota and in the five county Metro area they drop mosquito dunks into the wetlands and it's magical in the elimination of the little biters, but when I'm up North it's insane, but I'm imagining in the South it's tenfold, I did have good luck using repellent the few times, is it just too much and too many to be outside? I like the heat and Minnesota winters versus Everglades Winters with bugs
It is actually surprising to me that those in Montour Ranch (sp?) are suffering much thievery... Why? You have the glades right there and one would think getting caught and killed for trying to jack someone's property is a highly bad idea = disappearing...
the reason is water management, i owned land 5 acers at 1 time and you needed 40 to able to build then the state said they wanted it, i had no choice and had to sell or they would take it, that is what my lawyer told me, i think they paid me $2500 for the 5 acers

Some of this is correct and some is terribly wrong, especially your misleading description of Belle Glade, the violent crimes that are rampant in this city is no place a tourist wants to happen into, or anyone for that matter.
We have to leave some of the state untouchable other wise if you want to understand that all you need to do is talk to real people that have been here for generations. Not a person that only sees the value of Florida. Flagler and Disney both ruined this state.
you know. i live in an economically successful area of fort lauderdale, i am white, and the police are not very special to help me either. they say on the phone - it's none of our business - go to court. what hasn't happened - my cars were stolen, my cars were wrecked, money was stolen, shops were shoplifted. the police - don't care at all. they never run to help you. you need to call 5 times and 5 times for 30 minutes through a translator to explain to them what happened before they tell you - no, we are not coming. and maybe on the 6th time you will convince them. so euroglades has nothing to do with it. well, unless the police treat me like that because I am Russian and do not speak English well.)))) the police - on TV, in movies. in staged videos. but not in life. in life no. no one will protect you except yourself. even in America, even in Miami, even in Fort Lauderdale. the police don't care about crimes against citizens. they protect the country - the representatives of the authorities. I'll tell you a vivid example - my money was stolen from the bank - several thousand dollars. it was in broad daylight in the well-known Truist bank in Fort Lauderdale - I called the police - the police laughed and said that no one would help me, they wouldn't even go. but I called once for a while. eventually a policeman came and also stood there laughing at the fact that my money was stolen right in the bank. he said that he can't present anything to the bank. I had to persuade him to just open a report! it's located on "1" street - it's a very cultural place. and what do you think? how did it end - I started writing to the bank's inspection authorities so that they would deal with this and put an end to the injustice of the Truist bank against me. do you know how it ended - they invited me to the police and said that they would put me in jail right now if I didn't give them money right now. this is a terrible injustice. they stole money from me. i fought for justice trying to hold the bank accountable and in the end i almost ended up behind bars myself. you can never trust these people in uniform. don't believe movies and series, don't believe TV. it's just a movie. they don't care about you.

I agree if you say you’re not political but bring up political issues up then you will get people saying you’re on the left or right. And then get mad at them for saying that you kind of brought up the topic. Hey, sounds like 1090 Jake
What an incredibly depressing and sad video.
that kinda the reality of living in a mosquito infected swamp with no industry... in the scorching heat ...
Ave Maria in addition to being Catholic is a university town. Had the pleasure of visiting their last year with my son and I'm thinking of having him attend Ave Maria University in 4 years.
@@frankiemionetto yes!! lots of students there for sure!
Plenty of Latin people live in Ave Maria what are you talking about?
The only fun out here sounds like ATV exploration, it's a shame they go after them.
Uhhhhh its a swamp
Thats because they have mosquitoes the size of small dogs and they bite like them millions of them.
Subsistence please add this word to your vocabulary.
You've never heard of an essence farmer?
Informative. But,The monotonous drive in the beginning was incredibly annoying.
you know. i live in an economically successful area of fort lauderdale, i am white, and the police are not very special to help me either.
they say on the phone - it's none of our business - go to court. what hasn't happened - my cars were stolen, my cars were wrecked, money was stolen, shops were shoplifted. the police - don't care at all. they never run to help you. you need to call 5 times and 5 times for 30 minutes through a translator to explain to them what happened before they tell you - no, we are not coming. and maybe on the 6th time you will convince them. so euroglades has nothing to do with it. well, unless the police treat me like that because I am Russian and do not speak English well.))))
the police - on TV, in movies. in staged videos. but not in life. in life no. no one will protect you except yourself. even in America, even in Miami, even in Fort Lauderdale.
the police don't care about crimes against citizens. they protect the country - the representatives of the authorities.
Swamp Ape territory.

jose man I love your videos please leave politics out of them please bro.. Or if you are gonna play on politics please quit saying everyone that disagrees watches fox news that's bullshit bro and kinda offensive and shows your intelligence on the matter....do some research first my man
I agree if you say you’re not political but bring up political issues up then you will get people saying you’re on the left or right. And then get mad at them for saying that you kind of brought up the topic.
Also i find it weird he brings up Fox News all the time when all mainstream news has some type of bias some more left some more right. Of course there are more neutral leaning news orgs. I personally don’t watch any news only for weather it’s to negative
