I had a trio of green tree frogs many years ago, and i can attest to how widely varied they can be as individual personalities. One was a killer, as soon as food entered the aquarium, it was already lights out for a few poor souls, like a homing missle. One, was a bit like a tarantula, if you didn't bump into him, or otherwise crawl directly into his mouth, you were probably fine. The other, aptly named "loco" can be accurately summarized with "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" loved those little guys.

I love these guys! They are super cute and gentle! When I was a kid, I lived across from an elementary school. I used to catch these guys from the school because the kids would find them and play with them and a lot of times the frogs would get hurt. After catching them, I’d re-home them in my vegetable garden. Which had lots and lots of bugs. At one point I had so many frogs in my yard, you could hear a chorus of frog songs pretty loudly at night! It stayed like that for a long while. Our yard didn’t have a bug problem, they had a lovely home, and I got sung to every night!
My scariest mini-predator list would include dragonflies and all related species. Not only can they fly extremely fast, and actively hunt their prey, but have pinpoint accuracy that’s both amazing and terrifying.
I like that he’s very direct and also very realistic. Like when you go to a reptile expo the workers there could care or not so the advice can be sketchy but you can tell he really cares, and you can tell he tries to make good points for parents.
Reptile expos are definitely hit and miss. You can get the best and worst advice. My rule of thumb is checkout tables where they are obviously breeders first. Come to the tables that are just retail shops last.
You should do firebelly toads eventually. My dad had one when I was a young child and I liked having it kept in my room because it had such a cute, personable face. It learned that singing would get the humans to bring crickets so we would feed it whenever it asked for food. I remember many a night where I would yell out "Dad, the toad's hungry!" because its singing woke me up.

Within 6 or so months i had about a dozen clutches of eggs. Each clutch produced an estimated 80-300 eggs based on my counts. Only 2 or 3 clutches were infertile. So, i now have sold (less than $2 each) and given away plenty of snails but it still isnt remotely fast enough to clear my tank. I had to seperate the adults and now im stuck with a couple of aquariums with thousands of babies im trying to rehome 😂. Its going well though! Frogs like these snails, have hundreds - thousands of babies at once, and most people cant house more than a couple. Meaning after 1 reproduction cycle youll already need about a hundred customers! Pretty amazing animals, its crazy how much genetic information fits in those little egg bunches
Hey Clint! Appreciate the videos you are one of my favorite creators! So I have a question about these guys! I have a 18x18x24 paludarium that’s been up and running for about 3 years. I mostly use it as an orchidarium where I have several species of minis as well as a betta fish. There is a waterfall, 2x daily misting and external canister filter. My question is, can a frog live in here if I fertilize my orchids? Will the orchid ferts hurt the frog? Mainly I use Jacks ferts. I hope you see this! Would appreciate the info as I do not want to harm a frog!
Do you think you’ll do a video talking about native reptiles in different nations? It’d be interesting to hear about what we’ve got here in the UK. Love the channel!
I've had tons of baby frogs in my back yard on the trees next to my deck. Green tree, grey tree and brown frogs. They are so cute but could never have one as a pet. They belong outside and I can enjoy them while they're around. They do have personality!
I see them little guys singing near my lake and they are sooooo cute! They turn into froggy balloons while singing. They are EVERYWHERE! I will try to post a vid of them sometime soon
i love mine so much. I've never handled her because I know it's not the best and I don't want to stress her out, but she's SO much tinier than the one you're showing? she's not thin or young, eats plenty and gets good food but she's just tiny af.
I've always wanted to get a frog, they're one of my favorite creatures on the whole Earth! My only complaint is that they don't live long enough. 4-5 years is just long enough to get attached to it 😥
All tree Frogs are awesome, let's be reasonable. My favourites are the Red-Eyes though, Agalychnis callidryas. One of my Males tends sto fall asleep as soon as even the slightest bit of light hits him. Flashlight? Bamm asleep. Full Moon? This frog doesn't wake up. I love that animal.
I've had green tree frogs in the past here in Canada. The pet store I work at we don't bring them in Often but it's rare they are not on our availability list. Pretty fun activity little guys. And my lovebirds found that they can set the frogs chirping off by calling to them. Also a good recommendation for a plant light would be the fulval nano c.o.b. aquarium light it's intended for small aquariums for lower light plants but I've had good luck growing dusk moss mix, nerve plants and a large bromilade in my dart frog enclosure
My grey tree frigs are so much fun as well! They can change color and texture like crazy! They are stupid fast to eat any feeders in their tank. My long tailed lizard is pretty active hunter as well. Personally I love the small animals, you just need to look a bit closer than say, a Goliath frog. But they are just amazing creatures, though I havent ever kept green tree frogs before, thank you for the video!
Found a really brightly green one today on my parents back door of their brand new house. Mom was freaking out so I gathered him up to carry him to the forest outside. Dude was super friendly. Didnt try to jump away, just positioned himself in my hand so he was facing me. Finally got him to walk across my fingers to a tree branch so I could go back inside and wash my hands lol
You do a fantastic job on showcasing all these wonderful species. I wouldn't be shocked if schools or pet store managers or any other groups that educate, would recommend, share or show your videos. The video footage is incredibly valuable. Being able to see these animals up close and how they move, teaches a lot. Pictures are far too limited. Also, there is always a chance that a species will change over time and so because of that, these videos are like time capsules for the future to look into the past, without the need for fossils or preserved species. . It's fun to laugh and be entertained with videos, but educational videos like this (besides me loving them), improve the life of non-human creatures, by convincing people to choose a pet that is best suited for their own situation. Basically, if you see a picture or video clip or hear about something and you think it would be cool to have as a pet, you can look up Clint's Reptiles and see what they look like and how they act and what he has to say about them, to help you make a better decision than you would on your own. . Pets are broken down into simple categories that lets you consider "I think I want a pet spider. Well, I could have a black widow spider. I could brag and show it off to my friends that I'm a risk taker. However, I could have a jumping spider instead and have a lot more fun and have people say "awww he's so cute" when they see him and not risk being bitten by a black widow on accident."
@Clint’s Reptiles Could you speak to the frequency of live insect feeding? My Hylah was eating like a ninja champion eveyday the first month but its been 4 days since she’s eaten. A google search says a green tree frog can go 2 & 1/2 days without food which obviously isn’t true. But im getting concerned. Thank you sir!
Recently kinda impulse/not impulse bought one, they're really affordable amphibians and i really love feeding (incredibly voracious) the frog came with a tank and i just added a dranige layer/substrate and a lot of hides. Really incredible frogs id say
I am weird, I love toads but frogs terrify me. The jumping and the look they give. Went to a gorgeous park Wednesday and saw the biggest alligator I have ever seen! Wasn’t scared at all. But a frog lives in my flower pot and I scream every time I pass that flower pot!
April 2, 2024, ...About a 1/2 hour ago, around 2am, one must have climbed through my window opened just a crack . I'm next to the Tennessee River 20 miles east of Muscle Shoals, Alabama. I'm sitting in my room working on a song in the middle of the night, look over at my mic stand , and there he is......or maybe a she-frog...., perched on the boom part of the stand like it was a tree branch. Cute little bugger. Never heard it come in ! I got my little net, gently scooped him up and put him on a tree outside. Wish I could post a picture. Real bright green.
As much as I would love a little frog to sing for me nightly, I'm not home enough to provide the care they need. (My number 1 priority for any pet is making sure they have 100% of what they need.) But gosh they are sooooo cute!! 💕
I live in Florida, and can confirm, these are pretty easy to find. Though the mottled Cuban tree frogs are way more abundant. I know where they sleep during the day, and they go nuts singing after the first rains of the season. Sadly many of them end up flat on the road because with the rains they come out to mate, and during evening or night time showers, they get on the roads, and, sadly, you can hear them pop like a mustard packet when run over. I am by no means an emotionless killing machine, it's just a statement of fact, you just can't avoid killing some because they jump all over roads, and are small.
When I was 7 years old, in '81...wlmt family and u were in ferry in Ocracoke North Carolina...it started raining...and with it came 1000s of these beautiful creatures. It was freaky though. Was like one the great plagues if ancient Egypt. Can you explain this phenomena. By way reason I'm watching this...I live Alabama, was visiting my sister today. Lifted a board in yard there were two these clinging to it. My wife an I stopped petsmart...bought lil habitat, foliage, crickets, misting bottle. We'll see how it goes for Flotsam n Jetsam
One of these guys were in my backyard umbrella and when my mother opened it he jumped out on to her and she got scared than laughed it. off he was adorable

Omg thank goodness you did a video on one of these fellas. I rescued one back in December from home depot there definently not native here in nj.
A stowaway!
That they do.
i love mine so much.
4-5 years is just long enough to get attached to it 😥
0:41 "what did you call me?" "nope, im outta here"
So springy
All tree Frogs are awesome, let's be reasonable. My favourites are the Red-Eyes though, Agalychnis callidryas. One of my Males tends sto fall asleep as soon as even the slightest bit of light hits him. Flashlight? Bamm asleep. Full Moon? This frog doesn't wake up. I love that animal.
Yup, beautiful and boring.
@@ClintsReptiles A bit. But he never fails to make me laugh and for action I have the big females I can feed by hand.
sooo cute the lil gumbys 🥺❤
Hooray for more frog videos! Their feeding is fascinating, they seem like they just fling themselves like a projectile chameleon tongue
Right??
I have green tree frogs and they are AMAZING EATERS
Found a really brightly green one today on my parents back door of their brand new house. Mom was freaking out so I gathered him up to carry him to the forest outside. Dude was super friendly. Didnt try to jump away, just positioned himself in my hand so he was facing me. Finally got him to walk across my fingers to a tree branch so I could go back inside and wash my hands lol
Excellent! I love tree frogs, I need some more amphibians in my life!
They are wonderful :)

Hey Clint I kinda miss when you put the overall score in the thumbnail, who else agrees

The frog: Did you steal all the toilet paper. If you did, shame on you.
They're terrible about that...
@Clint’s Reptiles
Could you speak to the frequency of live insect feeding?
If there was a giant alligator in your flower pot you'd scream too...
Clint's Reptiles this cracked me up!
I use to love frogs as a child omg this frog is so cute I may go to petsmart and get it thanks for the info
I love those guys. Their very keen on the environment apparently, i heard they have a green thumb.
As much as I would love a little frog to sing for me nightly, I'm not home enough to provide the care they need. (My number 1 priority for any pet is making sure they have 100% of what they need.) But gosh they are sooooo cute!! 💕
Smart
I have 2 that I raised from tadpoles. That was a very interesting experience.
I'm getting some Eastern Dwarf tree frogs for my terrarium. They are very small and Australian too. Only reaching around 3cm as adults.
i love frogs and i love your videos so much omg thank you :)
You should cover Grey Tree Frogs. There relatively brushed over in my opinion but my male is probably my favorite tree frog of the species I own. He just has the best personality and their mating call is my personal favorite.
I hope to see you do African bullfrogs sometime. I know you covered them in your Top 5 Amphibians video but I think they're worthy of a full video.
I remember my dad found one while cleaning the shower. Thought it was some shampoo but nope, surprise frog. :D
