pretty awesome watching someone who understands music and vocals hearing Dio for the first time! Dio truly is the greatest rock/metal vocalist of all time, not just because of his incredible voice, but also his theatrics while performing. His lyrics are in a league of their own, like the greatest fantasy novel turned into metal ballards. What's even crazier is that Dio sounds just as good or imo even better live than he does on studio albums. Those "effects" on his vocals are 100% Dio and are just as remarkable live. Even crazier, Dio's voice sounded just as good in 2012 with Heaven & Hell as he sounded in the 80s. And, according to Dio, he's 100% self taught and never took vocal lessons in his life... which makes his mastery of his voice even more incredible.

@@maggiereneemusic I appreciate that you're doing this. I'll just give you an honest answer. I kind of liked some parts of the Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell reaction but it really didn't work. I just hope you'll find more music that you can enjoy yourself. Maybe you can listen to the studio version sometimes. There's a lot more details and Ronnie James Dio also wrote some great lyrics for the song. I'm very glad that you listened to Stargazer though. I enjoyed that reaction. Another Rainbow song called "Gates of Babylon" has an even more present Egyptian feel and a lot more variation. I think you might enjoy "Rainbow Eyes", which I've mentioned before. It shows a different side of Ronnie James Dio's voice. it also has a really well done arrangement for a violin and a flute. Take care and I hope you'll have a great day.
Ronnie was a very small Man with the most powerful voice in Rock. I seen him live with Black Sabbath, listen to Children of the Sea , and Heaven and Hell both Black Sabbath songs from the Mob Rules album 😁

I don’t know the technicalities of singing however he has unique Pronunciation and Enunciation and ability to phrase his words. Listen to the ending of many of his words, he was a talented singer for sure. Such a powerful voice coming from a man just over 5 foot tall.
I have seen Dio live back in 2008. He was with Heaven and Hell at the time, but did a small tour with his own band as well and that's when I saw him. Was excellent.

Alas I never saw RJD with Rainbow or with Dio. But I did see him with Black Sabbath in 1982, in London, I was in the 3rd row middle, what an experience. I did not see him live again for about 25 years when he appeared in London with Heaven & Hell. Vocals still incredible. I've seen a lot of greats live in my time, including Ian Gillan, Paul Rodgers, Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, & Freddie Mercury, but have to say RJD's vocals probably the best, and certainly for hard rock/metal. Just superb.

Saw Dio back in 1984. He had just released his second album The Last In Line. Strangely enough the concert only lasted around an hour. And he also played Black Sabbath and Rainbow songs. Opening act was Queensryche touring their first album. So the classic Line Up. Then saw him again in 2007 in Heaven & Hell. Of course Black Sabbath using the Heaven & Hell name. Great concert. Dio, Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Vinnie Appice. Dio came back in Black Sabbath on the Dehumanizer album from 1992. The heaviest Black Sabbath album ever. On his next Dio album Strange Highways was some very heavy songs that were meant for the next Black Sabbath album. He later recorded The Devil You Know with Heaven & Hell in 2009. He died in 2010. He actually recorded music back in the late 50's. Ronnie & The Red Caps. In the 60's with Ronnie & The Prophets, Electric Elves, The Elves and ELF in the early 70's before joining Rainbow

Ronnie James Dio is my favorite performer of all time you can not pick a bad song from any band he was ever in he never had any vocal training but was a trumpet player as a child then he started in bands as a teenager singing the teenage doo wop stuff in about 1957: and he went on to be in some of the best bands ever and any band instantly became better he began in 1957 and rocked all the way until his death in 2010
was lucky enough to meet Ronnie 19 or so times over 30+ years with among others Lemmy/Blackie Lawless and more The Little Man with the voice of a roaring god , never forgotten i hope ya have a ball with Lemmy
In 1985 Ronnie collaborated with all the metal stars in efforts to raise money to help feed the people of Ethiopia. Metal was the only genre that hadn't participated until ronnie put it together. Geoff Tate and Rob Halford were there to name a couple. Hear n Aid: We're Stars.

definitely need to check out more Rob Halford with Judas Priest. he is an amazing singer and far too many people only hear the radio stuff and not his true masterpieces. Rob Halford replaced Dio during a Black Sabbath show when Dio did not perform out of respect to Ozzy who was playing at the same show.
Ronnie Dio explained the meaning of Holy Diver this way. “The song Holy Diver is really about a Christ figure who is in another place - not Earth - and who has done exactly the same there as we apparently experienced on Earth. He died for the sins of man on that other far and distant planet so that mankind there could be cleansed, start again, and do things properly this time. The people on this planet are calling him the “Holy Diver” because he is about to go to another place to another planet, dive into another world, to do what he did first on our planet - save people from the sins or absolve them from their sins by having himself killed. “The people are saying to him, ‘don’t go, no no no.’ The innuendos of tigers and stripes, hearts and being eaten and you’ll die, all come from that. The tiger symbolizes strength, while its stripes suggest impurity. The lines “Ride the tiger. You can see his stripes but you know he’s clean” means that you must take advantage of the strength you have and not judge the heart of others by what seem to be impurities. These stripes - in the package it comes in.” “The song was meant to show just how selfish humanity is,” Dio continues. “That this one form of humanity on this one world said ‘no no no, don’t go down there and save anybody else. Stay here. We need you. You’re ours.’ That’s what that song was about.” Anyone who said this song is cheesy is way too shallow to comment and you were right in saying it was epic. Ronnie Dio never did anything that wasn’t epic. 🤘😍
Murray - is a Dio mascot. When you look at the early album covers Murray is depicted as being in chains. In the Dream Evil album he is on the outside of a little girls room looking in. It implies that because Murray looks like a demon he will always be judged by what he looks like and never be free which is why he is in chains or outside looking in. Not being allowed in.

Her voice is freaking amazing. They’ve covered Dio, Ozzy, Metallica and Iron Maiden. They have their own album too! Their dad is a/their producer.
Ronnie James Dio is my favorite performer of all time you can not pick a bad song from any band he was ever in he never had any vocal training but was a trumpet player as a child then he started in bands as a teenager singing the teenage doo wop stuff in about 1957: and he went on to be in some of the best bands ever and any band instantly became better he began in 1957 and rocked all the way until his death in 2010
Vivian Campbell is the guitar player. This was his last album with RJD. He is now with Def Leppard (sic).
was lucky enough to meet Ronnie 19 or so times over 30+ years with among others Lemmy/Blackie Lawless and more The Little Man with the voice of a roaring god , never forgotten i hope ya have a ball with Lemmy
His live stuff is great. ‘86. Rainbow in the Dark, We Rock, and others.
Lead guitarist Vivian Campbell was only 16 at the time this was recorded he now plays for Def Leppard
Now you have a lot of old people in chat i sale dio in Black Sabbath and rainbow 🌈 and him as dio watch him live and listen to the voice one ☝️ singer of all time he started in 1950s as a doo whoop and opera singer

Seen him live. Always good. One of the singers that age didn't do much to. It even made his voice sound greater.
OMG, Maggie, you're a Jilliard grad? U wouldn't believe how many great jazz musicians came from there....As for Dio, what can you say, his voice was sooo intense and powerful...made to sing the metal for sure!! Loved your reaction as much I love this LP cover (looks like he's trying to swim away from the Devil)
Thank you so much! 😊
The Dio's 'demon' that you're reffering to dear Maggie, is *Murray..* the demonic and evil mascot present, in many of Dio's albums!
Dio Live at the Philadelphia Spectrum. Amazing live video. He was a high school friend of my stepfather in Cortland. I have seen him twice. He was better live than studio.

@@maggiereneemusic Black Sabbath are one of the bands I grew up listening to, one of the first musical things I found on my own away from what friends and family listened to ,, so you gotta do more Sabbath both with Dio and Ozzy singing
Very entertaining reaction Maggie! Really enjoyed watching this. Sorry missed the live feed. Glad I can watch this over and over again.
saw RJD live 7 times, he was amazing.
I watched Dio live yes. With this same group of guys that kick total arse. Cow Palace, San Francisco CA,. Trying to remember the year. I think it was 1983. My dad drove an hour each way to take me there, I was only 16 at the time.I actually met the members of Metallica at the said show. Just in the long line of people wanting to see Dio. True story.
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you at my Metallica Premiere shortly?
I saw Dio live... no way I can describe it...
LILIAC a family band covers both of these songs. Melodia is the lead singer with a powerful and unique voice. Ronnie James Dio is her idol. Ronnies wife asked Liliac to perform Last In Line at a fundraiser for cancer in 2021.

You'll probably never see this because the video is 2 years old but The Temple of the King is a perfect example of his melodic style. It's from Rainbow
So lucky to be in high school back in the 80s. So many great bands in the day
i saw Dio live in 2002. Dio and Motor Head were opening for Iron Maiden. it was my 1st concert.

@@maggiereneemusic i haven't had the chance to see it yet but i love Black Sabbath and love to sing along war pigs at work.
I saw that show as well. One of the best triple bills ever!! RIP Ronnie and Lemmy!!
@@genegiusti6239 it really was and it's one of my favorite memories!
"That Looks Like A Demon Right There"
That's likely Dio's mascot, who was named "Murray"
definitely need to check out more Rob Halford with Judas Priest. he is an amazing singer and far too many people only hear the radio stuff and not his true masterpieces. Rob Halford replaced Dio during a Black Sabbath show when Dio did not perform out of respect to Ozzy who was playing at the same show.
It was before Thriller tho 🤪
React to king Diamond if you really want something that will shock you.
These stripes - in the package it comes in.”
“The song was meant to show just how selfish humanity is,” Dio continues. “That this one form of humanity on this one world said ‘no no no, don’t go down there and save anybody else. Stay here. We need you. You’re ours.’ That’s what that song was about.”
Anyone who said this song is cheesy is way too shallow to comment and you were right in saying it was epic. Ronnie Dio never did anything that wasn’t epic. 🤘😍

You really should react to that Liliac cover of Holy Diver at some point. That band is really good and they absolutely kill it.
I saw Dio during his Sacred Heart tour in 1986. Great show. Yngwie Malmsteen opened for him.

Been ready FOR 18 MINUTES!

It was worth watching this reaction just to see you practically jump out your chair at the begining of the song. 😂
If I remember correctly, Maggie
That album cover art was created by Boris Vallejo
Opera performers sing "about" the warrior on the mountain top, heavy metal performers sing "as" the warrior on the mountain top.

You should check out Liliac. 5 siblings who as well as doing classic rock/metal covers and originals have covered 3 Dio songs, Rainbow In The Dark, Holy Diver, and at a request from Wendy Dio (Ronnie’s widow) and Vinny Appiece (Dio’s drummer) The Last In Line. Their female singer Melody has been dubbed by Vinny as Melodio and she’s still only 20 years old.
