The saddest part about this for me is that they’re feared disappointing us. Most of the armys I know are sooooo happy for them. Every time they’ve taken a break/hiatus, we’ve been happy for them. Now with this new chapter of more solo work and projects, we’re all just looking forward to it and hoping they’re happy and healthy 😊

Yes, like I heard about BTS taking a break from group activites and working more on they're solo careers before watching the festa 2022 video(I was in a different state for a wedding so I hadn't caught up to everything I miss while I was away) and I was happy that they would be getting a chance to focus on themselves as individuals, whether it be work related or personal. But boy did I sob my eyes out(And still do everytime I watch it) when I watched the festa and saw how worried they all were about expressing the simple, and very human, fact that they were exhausted. It broke my heart to see RM especially crying and saying it felt wrong for him to say it, as if he was doing something bad.😢
And I will support all 7 in whatever solo works they release and wait for the day that they feel comfortable coming back as a group.💜

i think the saddest part for us was finding out that bts had planned to take this break 2 years ago, but the pandemic happened, and they felt like they couldn't just "leave" army like that. so they made new music, put out dynamite, the album "be", butter, and ptd -- all songs meant to cheer us up. none of those were in their plan, but they still did it because they knew how much it would mean to us. i cant imagine how long bts have felt this way -- tired, exhausted, burnt out, lost.. but they never let it show because they didn't want us to worry. the fact that they're choosing to take this break and take a step back is honestly so brave. it must be so scary yet so freeing at the same time.

- pausing group activities involving MUSIC. (working on group album, photoshoots, mvs, etc.)
- continuing group activities OUTSIDE OF MUSIC. (endorsements, filming RUN BTS eps, etc.)
- working on music solely for their solo careers (albums, mvs, promotions, performances, etc.)
all of this is FOR THE TIME BEING! short amount of time. they as a group are continuing to work. they have a contract to stay together even til after 2030!

it takes so much strength to admit that you need a break sometimes especially when they are at the highest point of their career so far! One thing about this break to focus on solo work is that I’m happy that they were able to tell us themselves and tell us how they feel rather than hybe just releasing a statement. I will always support all 7 of them as individuals and as a group it just breaks my heart to see them upset and that they thought they might have been disappointing us or that they ever thought we wouldn’t support their decision 💜

I'm so glad you understood exactly what they meant, the media has distorted a lot, as well as some mistranslations, and scared a lot of people who hadn't seen the video. JK and RM even had to speak out about and make it clear that they are still together as a group.
They deserve this break so much, be able to rest and do whatever they want, I'm also super excited for each one's songs to come

@@harika_9399 I can confirm at least 1 reaction that did this (Beards, Booze, Bands, & BS). They are new to BTS and have only been reacting to them for a few months but they don't seem to want to believe that ARMY and BTS know what they are talking about. I don't hate them or fault them for this they just don't know any better. They mainly focused on 'yep this is disbandment cause look at so and so (group) and such and such' stuff like that.
Just to be clear I actually do like them as reactors because they actually do research and don't just ask questions to the camera, but in this instance they are jaded by what other groups have done and what a break actually means to BTS. So I won't criticize them too much I'll just keep watching as they find there will be so much BTS content still coming in the future and their confusion over how that is possible. (lol)

Thanks guys for ur kind words and support too. Its terrible how some people outside the fandom just watch clips and bits and assumed BTS is disbanding. I hope they take all the time they need, I will be here whenever they return as a group and will still continue to support on their solo work too. BTS forever.

i think real army's are those that can see why this decision is so necessary for them. they've been around for 9 years without a break and they talked about how they felt like "rapping machines" left with no space to mature or grow. it sounds like they really need this break in order to mature and develop into better artists and i 100% respect that. not a lot of artists can do that, and it actually shows that bts take their music seriously and don't just put out new music for the sake of it.

The Korean music shows are weekly shows where kpop artists perform to promote their music. They did 3 music shows for this album M Countdown, Music Bank, and Inkigayo where they performed Yet To Come and For Youth. The no cheer concert was in South Korea because of a spike of covid cases fans could attend (it wasn't full capacity though) but they couldn't sing along or scream so the fans had these flappers instead they could shake.
To add more to that, the MCountdown one is a bit special. It was filmed at a bigger venue than usual to accommodate more fans so it was like a mini concert. I don't think any other artist did a comeback stage with a venue like that.

54:06 Guys, BTS has released a lot of "sad music" lol You simply haven't listened to them yet. They have over 340 songs! They have songs that fall under all sorts of genre but it's just their more pop songs are more known. Their B-sides have soo many mellow songs that are very popular.
i mean their title tracks are often pretty upbeat and you've seen mainly the MVs of those title tracks so it makes sense you feel like that's their whole style, but if you listen to their whole albums their are plenty of slower songs, ballads, etc.. it'll be nice if you went through their discography one album at a time with the lyrics but i know you already do a lot and i love the run bts content 🙂🙂

59:20 Music shows are the ones idols go on for their promotions, like the stages that you saw baby BTS on in Rise of Bangtan! They usually perform a few stages for different shows for every new title song (plus the promoted B-side), but BTS stopped coming on such shows during the pandemic because the fans weren't there and they didn't see the point of performing (all the other idols performed for empty theaters, only for the cameras). That doesn't mean their songs weren't nominated of course! I believe Dynamite went on to win 30 times against other groups, which is funny for us ARMYs because other fandoms started getting bitter that BTS still wins even when they're not there 🤣 In the video, BTS are talking about their plans of going back to music shows because pandemic restrictions have been lifted. And they're saying sorry for not performing their new song RUN BTS (not to be confused with the show 🤣), with the reason that the song is a bit on the diss track side and they don't want to perform with that kind of mindset 💜 Despite their amazing record of diss tracks, BTS often performs those songs only for a certain period, because they don't like holding on to those feelings of revenge or anger. Also, because this is one of the last group performances in a while since they're taking their breaks and pursuing their solo journeys, they prepared a whole arena to perform in when it's usually just a small theater. And like usual, BTS is either against BTS, or its BTS winning against another group by 97% (True story) 😭

It was 15k ARMYs everyday for three days, which is a great example of how disclipined Korean ARMYs are (Reminder that they're the voices behind the goosebump-inducing fanchants we hear in Rise of Bangtan). “after the video aired, i received the most messages since i debuted.
seeing the screenshots & article titles i was sent, there were so many provocative & charged key words, such as “disbandment,” “stopping activities,” and “announcements”. it’s not that i didn’t know this would happen, or that i didn’t mentally prepare for it, but it’s still leaves me with a bitter taste. i wasn’t necessarily hoping for people to leave their opinion after watching the full video of us crying and telling our story but the bts ‘dinner party’, in its informal nature, and the fact that it was released on the significant date of 6/13, was solely meant for all the armys who have been with us throughout the past 9 years. it’s easy for outsiders to say that we’re being over dramatic, or that we’re being full of ourselves… you could say “what artists, what fans, wouldn’t have heard those comments,” but with the nearly 10 years without pause that we’ve shared, there is definitely a special relationship solely between bangtan and army. this is a question we’ve received millions of times in interviews, but i find it difficult to put into words, and it’s hard for me. anyways, that was a confession of love and sin to all our fans who have been with us regardless of receiving anything for that specialness. those who watched the video will know,as the song title for “Yet to Come” suggests, what we wanted to honestly say is the fact that this is definitely not the end.
just the scene where i’m crying has been screenshotted and spread, & it’s made me wonder if i got too carried away by allowing myself to cry like that for no good reason. the bravery to be honest always seems to be followed by unneeded misunderstanding and anger. what i wanted to say is, we didn’t speak as 1 person when we’re actually 2 people (group + individual). we shared our thoughts 1 as 1, and we just wanted to share our raw emotions with bravery and tears. if you are army, who know us, i don’t have a doubt that you will be understanding of us. what we said in the video is everything.

You already saw what music shows are, you know in Rise of Bangtan when they were performing and Wes was like "there's no cheering for them?" lol that's music shows, it's where they promote their songs!! They stopped doing it in 2020 with ON because of covid it couldn't have an audience and now they got back to it to "say goodbye" to armys and stuff since it will be some time without the 7 of them performing together!!
The concert with no cheer was actually with audience, but because of Covid Korea had a protocol where you couldn't scream, dance etc only used the clapper!! It was a funny experience 😂
And the tattoos, yes they did!! As of now only Namjoon, Hobi, Jimin and Jin did... Namjoons is on his ankle, Hobi is on his Achilles tendon, Jimin on his finger (like he said in the video) and Jin on his back ribs and it's a 7!! So cute 🥺💜

I would just like to correct Wes in something small that he said about how BTS's original message was about how you need a dream but in reality their message was actually the opposite and about how it's okay to not have a dream. Loved the reaction though!

@@anannyasaxena7896 the word “hiatus” has a very negative connotation due to western culture. bts are pausing work on music for the group as a whole for some time to focus on their solo music, however they are not pausing other work for the group (run bts eps, endorsements, etc.). even if they do stop that work for some time too, bts are still under a contract to stay together for a very long time, one that they all very proudly agreed upon
Hiatus isn’t even mistranslation, it is only misinterpreted by some people. Hiatus and break are used synonymously. It seems people who misinterpreted it used hiatus and disbandment synonymously which is wrong. 1D seems to have ruined the word hiatus has everyone was thinking they would “pull a 1D” 🙄 anyways I am glad there is clarification but I want people to know that hiatus is not necessary the “wrong” word to use in this situation. Hiatus means break.

okay but on the sidenote, that "no cheer concert" they were talking about was actually what wes exactly thought of. it was a concert where nobody is allowed to shout and cheer so fans were handed clappers instead. nonetheless, it was still a fun experience for them as the members kept teasing the korean fans because they can't cheer for them. lmao and the clappers sounded like when you hear horses racing.

btw...1,000 korean won is about $0.77 in USD, so 68,000 won is a little over $52 :) The rule of thumb I used when I visited Korea was that 1,000 won = $1 USD. It was easy to understand how much I was spending if I thought of it that way. Tae was so proud of his jacket lol...the 2018 Festa Dinner Party is a classic as well!

military conversation warning
so they talked a lot during festa, mainly explaining their feelings, but a subject that didn't come up, but probably had a lot to do with their decision as well, is the *military enlisting situation*
idk if you guys know, but every korean man have to serve for 18 months in the military before they turn 28 yo
there are exemptions for athletes and for classical musicians that the korean government grants for exceeding in their fields, like when son heung min from tottenham won the asian games in 2018, and then he was exempted from serving, but right now there aren't any for exceeding pop artists, like bts
there is an articulation in the korean government that has been trying to pass a law to exempt them, because of how much they contributed for spreading the korean culture around the world and increasing tourism in korea, besides the revenue they bring to the country through tours, merch, etc, but right now, they are not exempt and they have yet to do their service
bts had the following options then:
1. they could go to the military all together at december of 2020 (the law has changed the date to 2022 now, but 2020 was the original dealine) and be out of the industry for 18 months altogether
however this would mean for jungkook, for example, that he'd be missing out on a high in his carreer for a year and a half even though he could still wait 5 years to enlist
2. each member could enlist when their respective dealine comes, so originally jin in december 2020, suga in march 2021, jhope and RM in 2022, etc
however this would mean that bts would not have all the seven members together for like at least 5 years, because when one member returns from their service, another members has to go
3. finally, the government could pass a law to exempt kpop artists, which they haven't done yet
this is a pretty controversial topic in korea, cuz they have to figure out some sort of criteria to determine when a kpop artist would have had such an impact to be worthy of receveing exemption, and some ppl don't want idols to be exempt at all
i think that's why bts were so focused on the grammys, if they had won one, then that could be the criteria to distinguish between grating exemption or not
also, nowadays a lot of koreans agree that they (bts) should be exempt, ever since they topped the billboard hot 100 with dynamite, life goes on, butter, it was the first time a korean artist ever did that, and the hot 100 itself has been considered as a criteria too, although there is no consent on anything yet
so, originally jin had until 28 years old to enlist, which was at the end of 2020
then that same year the government changed the law a bit, literally like a day before his birthday, and made it to 30 yo, which is December of 2022 for him and March 2023 for yoongi
coincidentally or not, bts said that they had planned their first season to end with ON (map of the soul: 7), which was released January 2020, the last year that jin had to enlist, at that time
they said they would do a world tour that year and take this break, but because of covid they couldn't do any concerts,and also, the government made that change that allowed them to continue together for 2 more years, until 2022
I think those things added up a lot to their decision, besides their feelings and individual aspirations, they needed to solve this military situation anyways, so eventually we would have to be without some members for 18 months at least
so we have this situation, they won't be doing music as a group for a while, and will work on solo music
if they wait until all the members have done their service, it will probably take a while for them to get together again, i think that's why they are emotional themselves, besides the fact that it's the first time being apart, they're dropping these huge news on us, and dealing with the pressure, etc
anyways, they will still do run bts (the show lol) and work on themselves and individuals, plus working on solo projects, which sounds fun too, and it does leave a bittersweet feeling, but we trust them and will be waiting for their epic return :)
One of the reasons BTS is so popular is because they really expand through all genres of music. Though it is true that their new English pop music is getting better results (on charts) than some of the other genres
They are taking a break and they are not on hiatus. The word hiatus in this Festa dinner is mistranslated. They are taking a break just like before they released butter and permission to dance, but instead of resting they would focus on their individual projects.
They will continue to do group activities but more on individual projects this year based on what jk has said.
This break will help the members to recharge themselves and comeback stronger and make good quality music again. It's just a temporary break just like before butter.

I feel like I need to correct a pretty big and unfortunate misunderstanding that arose from the Festa video. Jungkook wen't online after and had to explain it himself, because it was really needed after what was said. So please don't believe the rumors you hear and let it be understood that Jungkook in fact DOES NOT have that many mattresses in his house and while he might have more difusers than normal amount, it's still NOT THAT MANY!
It's nice to see Suga eating cuz he never seems to eat that much normally. Plus he is one of the thinner looking members and it seems he not feeling as pressured about his weight right now. I'm glad he looks more relaxed and happy.
you got it right, they are only taking a break from making music related content as a group (singles, albums, concerts, performances etc) and instead focusing on solo music but will continue with the rest of their group activities like filming run bts, advertisements, etc

The most heartbreaking thing about this dinner party was BTS are genuinely afraid that this step they took might disappoint ARMY. And BTS always said trophy, records everything mean to them because ARMY gives those to them. So disappointing ARMYs is their biggest fear. I am proud of them, that though they were afraid they took this step for themselves.
And I agree with Steph so much true ARMYs are not disappointed, we were shocked but we realized that it was for their good and we are happy for them with a promise to support them in everything they are going to do in the future.
I think yall understood exactly what they were trying to say!!! I must say when I first watched this I kinda sorta sobbed because it feels like the end of a chapter that lasted through a very important phase of my life, but i was SO proud of them for making this decision for themselves. Im 23 now, and I have been with bts since i was 18. I know just how much i changed, and how much more i want to change, and that only happened because i had the freedom to do so and was always in a very supportive environment. It breaks my heart that they may not have been able to do that, and it makes it even worse that they feel like they need to apologise to us for just wanting to be happier. I just hope they take all the time they need and do everything they want to their hearts content
Jimin and Namjoon breaking into tears really broke my heart and still does, but I am happy that they made this decision for the sake of their health. I was crying until I saw the crab leg on Jin's glass though LOL. Yes they are still BTS but they are pausing/halting group activities for the moment and focusing more on themselves individually, which is a very healthy decision. They are definitely not going into a hiatus or disbanding anytime soon. Plus I think they are also branching out into solo projects because of their upcoming military enlistments...especially for Jin who is turning 30 this year. I think they are the most sincere artists in this world. They want to make music and art that is from their heart, not forced. And I feel like they felt like they weren't sincere with their English singles, so they are taking a step back to discover themselves and the reason why they started making music in the first place....and to also take the time to experience things in life that they can covey through their lyrics...to recharge. I am sad that they put ARMYs first at the expense of their health for 2 whole years(releasing music and content to cheer us up even though it wasn't originally what they planned) and then in effect lost themselves and their direction in the process. They've bottled it up for a long time, but I am happy that they are opening up and being vulnerable and finally putting themselves first. Real ARMYs will understand and support all of them individually and I am one of them.

Yeah I definitely think it got blown out of proportion. When I watched the festa live I felt the same way, I thought it was bittersweet. I'm sad we wont get ot7 music in a while, but hey we've got 200+ of that and I've been super excited for a while now to hear their solo stuff! Especially V and jungkook because they've been talking about their "mixtape" preparations for years now. So I'm super happy at the same time. Reading and seeing reactions from twitter and other platforms really surprised me. People really blow things out of proportion. Whatever it is I'm happy boys made this decision and I'm happy they will get to release things they are really excited about. I really do think they really said everything they could for the last ten years as a group and now theu need more experiences to find new things to say. I'm excited for the mostly solo era however long that might be and I'm also excited for the group project that will come eventually, however long that might take.

I think for westerners and people who aren't army there's a lot lost in translation here which is why the headlines the next day were all over the place. People misunderstanding - purpusfully or not - what they said here relally hurt RM, he wrote a long letter on weverse after this and it made me cry. I wished I could tell them it's okay and there's no need to feel guilty. art needs time to grow in a person. and bts simply refuses to put out bullshit or other peoples visions. They need time to fill up again. people who aren't familiar with the kind of work schedule they had the last decade or confuse them with what they know from western artists misunderstand why they got so emotional here, a break means something completely different in this context

You had the same initial reaction that I did. It has taken me a few days to come to terms with this, but now I am really excited for their solo work. Like Tae said I think most ARMY has reacted similarly. Chapter 2 will be amazing...we may not have been around since 2013 but we are here now...and I for one plan to never leave.

HYBE's weakness is that it has a very high dependence on BTS, so hybe has been downplaying bts' sales and career. music shows are weekly performance shows where kpop idols perform new songs to promote them and interact with fans, there's voting and scoring to see who wins nr.1 each week to determine the overall liking of the songs. they hadn't done these for almost 2 years due to no audience but they decided to do them this comeback (album release) as fans are finally allowed again
no cheer concerts is where there is an audience but they have to sit and only use clappers (folded fans) to cheer with, no shouting or standing allowed

It’s the combinations of the first Korean syllables in those 4 words. “A” being the first syllable from Ami (Korean pronunciation of Army). “Po” being the first syllable from “Po-eh-buh” (Korean pronunciation of Forever). “Bang” obviously being the first syllable from Bangtan (the BT in BTS).
I just want to say though: I'm so proud of you. This reaction made you my favortie reactors officially. I always liked you a lot, but the compassion and understanding you have for BTS makes me like you even more. And the way you expressed yourself was amazing. In their concerts they did in Korea earlier this year the fans weren’t aloud to sing ,no fan chants,no yelling ,no clapping,no standing or dancing . They were given things called clappers they used to make noise in place of actually clapping.I went to the theater and watched one and it was just strange not to hear any yelling or singing from the fans. I’m glad they are taking a break they need this.I’m excited to see what’s going to happen in the future.I mean we are going to be getting 7 solo albums . They will come back happier and Stronger and healthier.And raring to go.This will give them a chance to learn more about themselves as individuals.

Re: no cheer concert, yes they had a 3-day concert in Korea in March. But due to Covid-19 protocols, they were only allowed to accommodate lesser number of people, and the audience was not allowed to shout or cheer or sing along, so the ARMYs who attended brought a "clapper" which they used to make sounds as replacement to the cheers.

bts actually have a lot of deeper/slower/sadder/more personal songs with all of them, you guys probably haven't heard them cuz they are less commercial, but i'll leave some of my favorites: rain, blue & grey, louder than bombs, butterfly
Yeah, It is like that the "No- Cheer concert", they do have concerts like that in Korea, cheering in concerts, screaming whatever is not allowed, so you can only clap, or other groups used other ways of cheering like drums. That's what Jin was talking about.

basically, they’re taking a break to branch out individually so each member has a chance to reflect and pace himself as an artist, they apparently wanted to do that just before covid hit but decided to hold out for a bit bc of it, but the toll of going on despite knowing they needed a break piled up, not only affecting their music and goals but also them as people. so they decided to just do it now. they’re not disbanding obviously but they’ll lessen their work as a group for a while and each take their time putting stuff out, and then they’ll get back and start the “second chapter” of bts as they say. honestly i’m not even sad i’m glad they’re doing what they know is best for them and the group. i’d much rather see them take their time and be happy than be super active yet miserable.
