I had pretty severe achilles tendon pain in both feet my entire life. Every doctor told me it was bad, would only get worse, and I had no hope. By pure luck I went to a massage therapist for a calf muscle problem. She ended up working on my over-developed (through no effort of my own) calf muscles AND my very stiff arches. Twice a week for seven months and the pain has been gone for 10 years now.

I would not recommend surgery to shave off the spurs that you likely have at the achilles attachment. Had mine removed and returned several years later. Too much scar tissue to do any further surgery. I was told mine formed due to military service. Many road marches and running long distances over 21 yrs.

I have haglunds deformity on both of my feet. Ttwo surgeries on the right foot, once on the left. Doctors detached my achilles on the feet each time. Was a painful recovery each time. The VA physical therapists gave me night splints to stretch the tendons. Its been 16 yrs since my last surgery and the spurs have reformed on both feet. Stretching when I get out of bed helps with that first few steps in the morning. The VA gave me no disability rating for my spurs on my feet. They did however give me 10% for 3 non operative spurs on my spine.

Damn, soooo close. My pain is the BOTTOM of the heel. I guess PLANTAR FASCIITIS. I need a good way to clear that one up. I found a Great Avia shoe, stock mfg, that stops it dead in seconds, but I went a month this time before getting a new pair. It still hurts like hell, unless I tightly curl my toes, then I can take a normal step. A video on that would be great. Thanks guys !!!

I don't know exactly what my pain is from. It is located at the center of the back of my right heel. It started a couple of years ago when I heard and felt a "pop" in the back of my heel when I put a lot of pressure on the ball of my foot on a hill one day. Ever since then, I cannot run or jump too hard where the ball of my foot is exerting a lot of force, or when I step just right and it gets agitated again. I don't feel any pain in my achilles specifically, just the back of my heel. When it gets agitated, it is very hard to walk for a long time. Is this bursitis? Or is it actually related to my achilles? Thanks 😊

Ok wait......my heel pain stems from my calves? My left heel has been hurting for months. I've been buying new shoes, new inserts because I thought I injured the back of my heel some how. New inserts helped a lot but the pain came back, I walk a lot at work, 10 hour shifts and my feet are fine until hour 8...,then the heel acts up. Very tender to the point I start limping, especially when I get up from sitting for a 10 minute break. I feel no pain in my calves though. I'm kind of confused but willing to try anything within reason.

I'm not sure if mine is caused by a heel spur or the many accidents I've done on my Achilles tendon. I had a dog gate fall on it once. Honestly, I think that was the worst pain I've ever had, but I've also stepped off the wrong step, gained a little weight, tripped many times, etc. I'm surprised I can walk at all! All of my joints take a major beating. My doctor just snorts a happy snort and says "let's buy you a leg brace" because she likes that insurance money. So I'm hoping these work well for me. Thanks for the ideas.

To anyone suffering from Achilles Tendon problems.. dont listen to all these youtube videos.. i did all sorts of crazy exercises and stretches advised from PT and MD's on here and suffered for two years. I thought it would never get better and i was stuck suffering forever. In the end..this is what really worked. I wore inexpensive insoles in brand new high end tennis shoes... massaged my foot ..heel and calf..and I took ibuprofen for a week and it totaly took the pain away. After that, I took it slow and simply walked on my tip toes as my way to strengthen .... and graduated to where I could raise up on the toes of the sore foot more easily and held that for 30 seconds at a time. all better now.

I have a bony bump on my Achilles tendon, it's painful at times and esp in the morning. I've seen 3 doctors and they said different diagnosis.
      1 achilles tendonitis

      3. Heel spur
Injection was super costly and 3rd doc said it won't guarantee total cure. I'm at a loss at what to do :-(

@@alexistapia9935 after trying so many stretches and paying for online "cure" exercises. I decided to use common sense. I simply told myself I was going to get pain free first. The exercises make it worse. So stop those. I used rest.. self massage with lavender oil on my calf and gently massaging my tendon from my heel to calf....and took ibuprofen for a week. Having new good shoes with a slight heel and solid rubber soles helps. ( don't go barefoot like some on here suggest). ( I found gel heel protectors and footie toeless compression socks helped greatly bought on amazon don't wear both at one time). When the pain starts going away.. for exercise simply walk on your tip toes.. and do calf raises and hold to strengthen. Hold onto a counter for support if you must as your injured tendon gets stronger. . I am now totally cured.. best of luck to you.
