    The scene with Jess and Luke at the end is so simple but one of my favourites of the entire show. The heartbreak in Jess’s voice as he says “I made sure she was okay” kills me every time

    Luke should have asked Lorelai first but she was awful to him afterwards. She has a lot of grace for people who've done worse. He (Jess) is actually very much like her (Lorelai). She doesn't even ask if Jess is okay. I distinctly remember when Rory cheated with Dean and Lindsey's mum was screaming at Rory, she yelled back at her. They're both kids. I feel for him cos he seems to have only one person truly fighting his corner.

      There's a RUclips channel that therapizes Gilmore Girls and they haaaate Jess. Another person who said they were a youth counselor or something said that Jess would be a dream to work with compared to most of her clients. That he's intelligent, industrious( working at Wal mart) and has passions and hobbies, such as his love of literature. There's a lot to work with to put him on a good path.
      Ya compared to real life "troubled kids" Jess is actually not very bad at all. He only looks so bad because Stars Hollow is a lunatic town with 0 crime so a kid stealing a garden knome is hot gossip lol. What if he corrupted the other kids with gnome and baseball stealing ways!?

    I know a lot of people get upset with how Lorelai reacted to Luke and I do agree that she overreacted but she also had a point. Luke absolutely did keep pushing Rory and Jess together only thinking of how it may help Jess not how it may effect Rory. As a mother I 100% understand her concern about Jess and how if not careful he could derail Rory's goals. Luke never asked Lorelai if Rory could tutor Jess. He never took her feelings or objections into account. She had a bad feeling that was totally ignored by someone she trusted deeply. Then they get in an accident, and while yes it was an accident, Jess couldn't even bother himself to stay at the hospital with Rory until her mother arrived. So Lorelai's anger gets the best of her. I fully understand Luke's concern with needing to find Jess to be sure he is ok but with emotions running high and considering the circumstances he shouldn't have held the argument against Lorelai.

    I feel like this is a hot take among the Gilmore Girls fandom but I feel like Rory should be held more responsible for Dean’s actions in those seasons where she was for all intents and purposes cheating on him with Jess, whether emotionally or physically. But from what I see there are so many people who forget the gaslighting that Rory participated in when stuff like this happened. It would not fly if the roles were reversed. Maybe more people feel like this then great, but the show really gaslit Dean and allowed him to be played for a fool on more than one occasion and excused a lot of Jess’s behavior by saying he was a damaged person, like yeah he is and so he had to take that out on Rory?? Anyways that’s how I feel and this episode is one of those that really frustrated me because Rory is made out to be a little lamb so many times.

    • @RoPiDe
      @RoPiDe 3 месяца назад

      Agree 100%. Dean was definitely an idiot who _loved_ a girl too much (he gave her a car, for God's sake!!), but didn't deserved to be treated like this by Rory, and to replace him with a petty criminal with violent tendencies, who was a complete jerk to EVERYONE (Lorelei, Luke, Liz, Emily...) and who treated her like dirt and only wanted to bang her, its just incomprehensible to me...

    Jess' brand of self sabotage is so aggravating to watch. I know he has a Tragic Backstory ™©®, but it's not substantial enough to justify how he seems to be rebelling against the wind. It doesn't make any sense! Jess SHOULD be a heartbreaking character. If the most responsible person in his life is Luke "I'm Too Good For This Town But I Refuse To Leave For Some Reason" Danes, then clearly Jess is in deep trouble, but the fact that he's so determined to make everyone in town hate him kills any empathy I have for this character. ASP didn't put any thought into Jess besides "hot bad boy with a troubled past" and it shows.

This is what normal people call an accident. It can happen anywhere, any time and to anyone. It is not a crime.
      And a hairline fracture, is being okay after crashing a car. Your reaction is as much an overreaction as Lorelai's. Most mothers would be relieved if her child only had a hairline fracture after being in a carcrash. That's a good outcome.
