Young Chui and Lane both had partners who their korean mothers didn't aprove, so they pretend to date to keep their moms happy while secretly they were with their true partner, but Young Chui's girlfriend broke up with him and he fell in love with Lane so he wouldn't pretend to dump her to her mom like they agreed so that her mom would feel bad and let her go to prom with Dave, that's where the conflict between them comes from. Dave is actually the nicest love interested in the series. Love you GG reations ❤

I’m the same age as Rory, and unfortunately that bedroom scene always rang true to me. In my high school experience, you couldn’t say “wait” or “no” just once. You had to be very clear verbally and sometimes practically push the guy off of you. It was “normal” for him to ask again and again to try to wear you down, and start running his hand down your pants without asking. It’s not ok, but you have to realize that we didn’t have the conversations about consent back then that we do now. These guys are now respectable members of their communities, and hopefully see the error in their younger ways. I hope it’s different now for my kids, and these are conversations I’m already having with them.

I always thought Rory, who has every CD known to man and an extensive knowledge of every band coming out of every decade between her and her mother, announcing her friends band with "who wants to hear some tunes" was the most ironic, nonsensical, and completely adorable thing ever.
those guys who keep trying to stop Dean & Jess fight are Kyle, Marshall and cousin Rick (the one who just turned 21, the one who got that beer keg they dont know how to open) maybe you didnt realized but Kyle was the party host, this kid who keep cleaning around , the one packing all the valuable stuff & asking people to be careful with his parents furniture. One of my favorite NPCs lol " If you drop a chip, you pick it up! its common courtesy folks" 🤙

Everyone hates Jess and he's the character i relate to the most! My mom's crazy. I got sent away to live with a relative. Forced to move from the big city to a small town that I hated. Dad bailed when I was a baby. Really smart but didn't try in school because I had behavioral issues due to neglect/abandonment. Was a vandal but in a silly way rather than profane. Stole a gnome lol. Experienced the "someone liking you even though they're already in a relationship" which sucks. Also my crushes mom hated me. Jess can definitely be a jerk but I just find it ironic that Lorelei hates him because he's a lot like Lorelei. The painful childhood, the stubbornness, the sarcasm, the sass, the need to be cool. So many parallels...
Honestly, I don't think Lorelai even hates him, exactly. She just worries about how Rory could be hurt by him, or otherwise negatively impacted by his presence.
I genuinely enjoyed you rooting on Jess getting his ass kicked. 😂

Lane isn’t really in a relationship. She was in a fake relationship since they both had people they were interested in but their parents will only let them date Koreans. And he was supposed to break up with her before prom so she could go with Adam Brody’s character. But then he catches feelings for Lane in their fake relationship.

See, THIS episode is the reason I can't sign off on Jess. And I get so confused when people talk about Jess being the best boyfriend Rory ever had. He was an interesting character on the show, and I love his arc. But when he was actually Rory's boyfriend? This is the kind of stuff he did, and that bedroom scene. . . No. Good character, and grew in impressive ways, but Jess was not a good boyfriend.
He does grow and change, which is good. But yeah, he is never a good boyfriend. Some ladies just can't get past their crush on a bad boy and make excuses for him. I can understand him not wanting to tell Rory he was failing, but the angry bedroom stuff was too much. And his attitude with the principal, ugh. When he said he was smarter than everyone at the school, I was looking forward to Dean pummeling him too!
I think the reason people say Jess is the best boyfriend comes down to who he is by the end of the series and the chemistry Jess and Rory have. Jess is one of my favorite characters and I love his development and his friendship with Rory in the later seasons but he was a terrible boyfriend. #teamlogan

This episode gives me the ick all because of how Jess acted upstairs at the party.
Not Gilmore girls info but just general life info: every hotel has turndown service (it could similarly be referred to as housekeeping, though housekeeping happens after a guest has checked out, turndown happens during their stay). turndown service is just the act of cleaning a room and getting it ready for guests. The only weird part about her doing turndown service in their room is that she insists on doing it while they're in the room lol.
No, some fancier hotels have proper turndown service, where they do exactly what she's doing here, come in and make up the room so it's ready for you to go to bed, and they do do it even if you are in the room when they stop by.

Jess is SO STAB-ABLE!! He's like an alcoholic father who takes his bad-day-at-work anger out on his wife and kids. 😡😡😡
I agree if Jess is like that then he’s a jerk, but he actually had really good character development and ended up being a pretty calm and good guy, while Rory ended up being worse
I don't agree with that take at all. Jess is an angsty teen who had a neglectful childhood with a mother who was regularly doing drugs and dating bad guys. He's trying to figure himself out and not doing a great job of it at this point, but that's true of lots of teenagers. He does pull himself together, take responsibility for himself, and grow.

Honestly, I don't understand why fans of the show love Jess so much. He annoyed me almost all of his screen time. I understand that Milo Ventimiglia is charming, but that's just not enough.
@@KBeez Jess’ development as a character was actually good and I do like him towards the end, I however HATE him as a boyfriend for Rory, they should’ve made him move on in AYITL.
For the fans, I guess people like him because they romanticize the idea of him, he’s smart, beautiful, charming, reads… they just ignore his flaws.
@ilios9404 I agree that he got better by the end, but before that, he was really annoying. I absolutely agree with the rest, especially with the boyfriend for Rory part. She didn't have a normal nice non-toxic boyfriend at all, did she? It seems to me that there were only more or less toxic ones.

Funny thing: I'm not too much of a fan of this episode. So I disagree with the most fullfilling, but everyone has different tastes. My most fullilling moment about this episode is Lorelai finding out why the fight happened in the beginning of the next episode.
The principal is played by Lawrence Hilton Jacobs, who was one of the students on _Welcome Back, Kotter._

This is why I really don’t understand Jess fans. Even though I didn’t like him before this episode, I could understand others who did. But his behavior at this party was just awful
It is, but, as Rory notes in the next episode, it's because he's upset about something else. His entire future has just taken a sharp left turn. He doesn't know what happens next or what he can realistically do, and he's embarrassed for Rory to find out and be disappointed in him. So yeah, he's surlier and more unpleasant than we've seen him even at other times. I would be surprised if he wasn't.
you should watch season 5 episode 17 "Pulp Friction"! It's awesome! Lorelai is not talking with Emily, Emily has a meltdown and screams at Luke, fun stuff!
