  • Sixteen months into my riding experience and I decided to hit Windrock, what could go wrong?? Well, actually, not much, I had a blast! But my 40 year old self didn't send it hard, I just held on for dear life and tried to make it down in one piece!
    If you're like me, mid-life and wondering if you can survive hurling yourself down the trails at Windrock Bike Park, check out this video and decide for yourself! I think you can!

    The first time at the Rock can be really intense. The good news is that summertime is when WR gets blown out from the harsh summer heat dry/wet cycles. It'll be getting back to prime and feeling less rough around the edges in another month or two!

      Definitely planning a fall trip or two now that resurfacing is on/completed!

    Hey Bobby, was looking for vids on Wind Rock and your video came up. I'm MTB over 40 too, specifically 46. Loved the content, so I'm sub number 925 . My buds and I are heading up there tomorrow. Got that excited nervousness going on because that is some some steep stuff! Wish me luck. Cheers!

      Nice man! You’ll love it! It’s a bit intimidating but as you can see you don’t have to smash down the trails. A lot of it you can take your time. Have a blast! Can’t wait to get back there again.
      And thanks for the sub!

      I may have not. Windrock is in East Tennessee, near Oliver Springs.

    Would you recommend a full on DH bike over a 130mm trail bike?

    • @midlifeshredder
      @midlifeshredder  2 года назад

      For Windrock, you definitely want a good about a travel. Depending on your weight and how aggressive your riding is I would recommend at least a 160mm fork, 140mm shock. My Fezzari is a 170/150 and handled it fine. A DH bike would be even more stable but I don’t think it’s a must to ride there.

    Caveboy isn’t double black, it’s not even black. Red trail.

    • @midlifeshredder

      Trails marked red are double black.

    • @jaketheriprrr
      @jaketheriprrr 2 года назад

      @@midlifeshredder Negative, red trails at Windrock are intermediate trails between blue and single black diamond. Double black diamonds are literally marked with double black diamonds on the sign. Take a look at middle finger, Horseface, windmill, or Caveman. Caveman(a very short double black), you rode. It’s after the very steep shoot on Cave boy where snake rock splits off.

      @midlifeshredder  2 года назад

      Ok, my bad, other systems I’ve been on mark red as double black guess Windrock is different. I don’t remember seeing the sign for Caveboy so just used TrailForks.
