I'm glad you thinned your hecticity of heavy clientele. This seems to have left you the chance to explore other types of animals to groom as well as the freedom to give yerself time away from the grooming yet still helping through promotion of others who want to better the lives of animals.
You should ask Urban Rescue Ranch to see what he thinks about it. I've seen on his channel a few instances of goofy legs and angel wings due to common nutrition issues. This could be the duck grew up under these conditions and is permanently effected in its adult life.
Lovely! Thanks for sharing.
By far my favorite video of yours! Many Blessings to you and Grey's Haven. Thank you for saving these beautiful souls ❤

They’re just like humans! Females talk endlessly; males pretend to listen while grumbling.
2:14 I like the implication that the human in a coat standing next to the turkey is his wife.
It's amazing that some in the comments can be so cold hearted. Like, for example, one guy was like put it out of it's misery. Or how it's such a waste of time to help any of these creatures out. I feel that most people don't understand ethics. I think people think that animals are basically robotic pieces of meat that are just born to die. But people don't understand that we are apart of the animal kingdom as well, and while we are much more developed in our cognitive functionality, we still have a choice. We have a responsibility to use our conscious choices for good. People don't know enough about animals, so they take what is sold to them and just go with it because they don't take the time to learn and make a better choice. This is a subject people need to learn about more and hopefully make more human choices. I also understand there will be a bunch of experts out there trying to prove a point to boost their ego. Go for it. All thoughts should be heard. We should all ask questions, and not stay stuck in one school of thought.
I bet you never killed a fly or stepped on some ants or swatted a mosquito because insects are also part of the animal kingdom aswell
Frankie clearly misses getting into the water. So cool to get to see him enjoying himself!
I'm so happy that Frankie has a chance at a comfortable life. A disabled life is a life worth living!
It's a life worth living if you have the support you need - many are not so lucky unfortunately.
Well in nature he'd Die then and become part of the food chain again.
@@KrabbyPatty_ yeah but he lives in a sanctuary…. So really your point is kinda moot
@@KrabbyPatty_ He'd die and become part of the food chain even without his disability. I appreciate that even a lot of disabled humans have a crap life so a duck being properly looked after is a little patronising but that doesn't seem to be your point? We're a sapient species after all so we might as well have empathy, otherwise what else could we value.
@@hamjaro2920 of course he'd die eventually but with his disability in the wild he wouldn't have a chance and die much sooner - that was my point because I think I answered to someone wondering what would've happened to the duck if nobody had taken care of him if he hadn't "been so lucky".
🤷🏻♀️

You are such a kind person. Frankie is a sweetheart. I have such respect and admiration for people who have sanctuaries.

How old is your daughter? It's so wonderful seeing children loving the beautiful animals.

SMA? She’s a fighter!
@@KristiLEvans1 SMA stands for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. We are so blessed to have Tori in our lives. She is a gift from God.
Wheelchair & walker user here as well. I have severely less functioning legs, they are not paralyzed but I can barely walk straight, never mind for an extended amount of time. I fully understand this, and loved this video!
From what i heard, pekin duck has a lot of health issue because they've been bred selectively for meat. So they grow way bigger and heavier than normal duck. As a result, many of them has issues with walking (i think because of weight balance)
As someone who raises and breeds pekins, they're actually one of the healthiest breeds that I've had- however, I raise them differently than most people. (I let the ducklings free range, which results in much stronger and active birds)
The only ducks that I had struggle to walk were poorly bred Swedish Black ducks with genetic niacin deficiency. (I did not breed them)
This is just my experience though, other people may have completely different opinions. :)
@@julianna9854 this particular one seems like jumbo pekin. And I understand there are many varieties of pekin. I just learnt about them from reading of course, i'm not a farmer. I read that their rapid growth rate is what contributes to their health problems. Like the video said, the owner said they don't know what caused the duck's disability.
@@agem6592 that's a good point- I do breed mine to be on the larger side, but health is the most important factor in my decision and I raise standard Pekins, not jumbo. I hadn't thought about it, but it makes sense that the jumbo pekins could have some health issues.
It can be the same with some chicken breeds. Poorly bred meat breeds grow so fast they can’t walk. But if they’re properly raised, and properly sourced, then they’ll live wonderful lives.
I love Chinese Pekin duck. It's soooo yummy
I would give him a bath everyday if I had Frankie! Seeing this again 2yrs later and I love him just as much now as I did the first time! I hope Frankie is alive and thriving!
Well done for funding his new wheelchair - what a lovely gesture!

I didn’t know I needed to see duck get hugged while being blow dried or in a bow tie today, but now it is a lovely day because of it. Thank you for this wonderful video, and thank you to Grey’s Haven for giving these animals a wonderful life!
I just love you so much. Thank you for providing services to the animal sanctuary and telling people about them. I adored Frankie! He needs to do that more often, he IS a duck. He was so joyful when you were bathing him. I think he liked the blow dry, too. Sweet pigs. Thank you
But why pretend to need to groom a duck just to promote this sanctuary?
I love this so much ❤❤❤❤ thank you for introducing us to Grey's Haven animal sanctuary, and for donating to the ducks wheel chair!!!
People are sometimes curious why someone would want a wheelchair for an animal. My dog had one in his older years and like Frankie it was a struggle to have a good one. I think by improving animal wheelchairs it can also help us with designs for human wheelchairs. I think animals can have a very good quality of life despite having to use wheels instead of legs
There’s a little dog in my neighborhood who needs wheels for her back end, and she seems to have adapted so beautifully. Animals don’t seem to feel sorry for themselves… they’re a real lesson on how to be in the moment and do the best you can with what you’ve got… and we owe it to our fellow creatures (human and otherwise) to help them however we can.
I understand a dog, kind of. A duck is not a pet. A duck cannot BE a pet. The are strapping it into a contraption and being like "oh it's so happy now" and the duck struggles to even groom itself properly. It cannot act like a normal duck. They should put the poor thing out of its misery. I don't understand why people take compassion so far that it turns into cruelty.
@@sj4iy bruh, if a dog can have a weelchair so can a duck or any other animal. And yes ducks can be pets, i've never had a pet duck but I have pet chickens so I guess they're similar, they're pretty smart animals, if you teach them correctly they will learn tricks and even learn to defend you. They don't really like leashes or stuff put around them, but i'm pretty sure a disabled animal would accept a weelchair just fine cause it helps it move. The duck doesen't really seem to be in extreme pain, like with some disease so I don't see a reason to put it down
@@max_punch exactly! Also most disabled animals struggle with grooming, it doesn't inherently mean they have a bad quality of life as long as someone else can help them out. Elderly cats often aren't flexible enough to lick their whole body for example.
@@sj4iy to be honest it is a matter of opinion and perception. for example a French Bulldog needs assistance with grooming due to it's genetic makeup, almost all dogs & cats need assistance with cleaning their eyes & ears no matter how efficient they are in self grooming. People keep a wide variety of pets for various reasons. If the animal is treated fair, not in pain etc there is nothing wrong with what they are doing.
Once he figures out the rhythm of moving with his wheels, he can really move on out! It will be great once he gets wheels that are better suited for him.
It's heartwarming to know others care for needy animals.
Thank you for being a great animal person and sharing with us the good part of humans with animals ❤ This was great! Frankiiiieee
I think it's a huge testament to how far we've come economically and socially that animals like this can have a continued existence.
For animal wellfare we economically and socially are doing way worse as time continues.. don't confuse 1 good story for reality..
@@longbow857 I don’t understand what you’re saying. For thousands of years the best available option for disabled animals was a quick death. The fact that life is even an option for animals like this is a huge improvement.
@@connormccloy9399 that mindset is way too emotional and unnatural. In nature disabled animals get picked off by predators. It is their efficient way of surviving. We give one disabled duck a wheelchair, and meanwhile we keep billions of animals in small cages for food whereas in the past we did hunt them in the wild for an accasional meat serving. Millions of animal species die out because of our consumerism economy instead of recycle economy. Be aware that the word ''waste'' did not excists before the industrial revolution. You only get waste if you consume things you don't need. These are the kind of examples in wich I mean we are ineracting with animals at the absolute worst in this time period. Yes it goes way further then your simple thought about this single duck, but if you were aware of what us humans cause in this age you wouldn't phrase it like that.
@@longbow857 I believe your comment gets into the question whether or not human life is a good thing, which needless to say I'm not prepared to discuss in this format.
@@longbow857 You're so wrong, buddy. Every day the social awareness to protect wildlife grows bigger and bigger. More santuaries, more shelters and more organizations dedicated to save and preserve nature are created. More animals are taken out of the critically endangered list of extinction as our efforts to restore their population prove to be succesfull. We are still a shellfish species that destroys acres and acres of habitats per day, but we're getting better. Late is always better than never. Not to say that, as Connor stated, this duck and most other disabled animals wouldn't be alive 50 years ago, as we couldn't care less about an animal's health back then, let alone work to make prothesis for them.
They must love their animals. They even let the pigs keep their tusks, meaning that they're willing to deal with any risks that come with it. That's how you know they're truly kind to them.
That's pike letting corgies keep their long tail
@@lunix3259 Exactly. Though with corgis removing them is entirely cruel. Pigs often have their tusks removed to prevent injuries to the pig itself and fellow pigs or other animals around it, so there are good reasons to do it. But in the end if you try hard enough you can prevent and also treat these things when they happen, so a dedicated owner is able to own them and keep their tusks. I don't hate people who removed them, but I respect those who keep them since they most likely did so due to taking very good care of them.
With corgis, you've got absolutely no reason to dock their tails. That's just wrong. It doesn't harm the dog in any way to keep it, but it DOES hurt the dog and expose it to potential infection to cut the tail off. Absolutely wrong. I don't like people who choose to dock tails. Or ears.
@@catpoke9557 oh my god don’t tell me corgis have tails but i never knew bc them not having tails was normalized…. i’m shocked this information and now very disappointed in owners who dock their beautiful long tails
@@michelle-mq4hw Some of them are born without tails, but most are born with. People dock those ones most of the time.
@@catpoke9557 I have heard from a few farmers that the reason tusks are removed/trimmed is because when pigs smell blood, they do kinda go out of control. Like. It's documented fact that most pigs will attack almost anything that bleeds on them. But removal weakens the jaw and can cause infection, so actual good farmers just keep 'em trimmed. you probably already know this I just feel like this should be known by more people

Lol dont give up on that pipe dream of urs tho my friend! This chick is a powerhouse so it wouldn't surprise me if she made that dream of urs come true lol she's pulled even trickier things out her sleeve😉
I love how he still worked on grooming himself as he could as well !
These videos give me faith in humanity
Bless, Grey Havens. Thankful for compassionate beings that work to change their little Corner of the world.
You know, one day you'll probably have like a giraffe stroll into the shop for a groom. And I'm here for it
4:05 Frankie: HERE WE GO MOTHER QUACKERS
Beautiful. We love you Frankie ❤
Love this. ❤ Frankie deserves the world. ❤
Can we all give a moment to this lady for taking in all types of animals just to take care of their hygiene?
I'm bawling so hard this silly duck is doing such a good job!! he's walking even though it's hard!!!!!! he's getting a bath!!! and the pig is so smart!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭
all pigs are smart ;)
Have you ever seen pigs? They're dumb as hell
Vanessa you are amazing 😍
I love Frankie so much, look at him having a great time in the water. Bless the people at Grey's Haven, they're giving a life to so many precious souls.
I’d love to see how you handle grooming rats. I had an elderly boy who couldn’t groom himself so I had to brush him with a flea comb and bath him with a toothbrush.
Like store bought rats or the ones living on the walls of my previous place of living?
@@jwalster9412 pet rats. I wouldn’t recommend trying to groom a wild rat.
@@jwalster9412 domesticated rats of course, they are very cute
not me thinking that you were talking about rat terriers 😭
@@LoreCatan Tamed rats. Pet rats are no different than wild rats. Same species. Difference is nothing compared to differences between dog breeds.
i love that you've been doing so many non-traditional pets!! i'd love to see a bunny at some point :)
Bunnies shouldnt be bathing because of their thermoregulation.
@@123gawronik yep! but a nice trim and comb would be nice and appropriate
@@123gawronik Sometimes they require it however. I have 5 year old lionhead rabbit and he often needs his butt and feet bathed because he has a difficult time doing it since he's older now.
Rabbits don't go into shock because of the water, they go into shock usually because of the cold so they need to be dried thoroughly and completely.
Yeah these videos are for your pleasure not to get some education ,empathy or admiration for people that love animals and really care for them or see them as non-traditionnal pets.Bunnies taking baths?
@@frosted-bird8740 thank you for this lol ppl act like bunnies die as soon as they touch water like yeah you shouldn't soak them and shampoo them but a little rinse every once in a while won't kill them as long as they're dried
How cute is that! We had a disabled duck for a while. Well, actually he was injured, not actually disabled. And he did heal. But we put him in our in-ground swimming pool, and boy did he love it. He would dive all the way to the bottom and bounce right back up, because his feathers were so oily. And he groomed and groomed himself. It was an interesting experience. When he was ready, he just left our home. Flew away, never to be seen again.
That poor little quacker. It's heartwarming to know that someone cares for this unfortunate, crippled critter. I wish him a long and happy life as unimpeded as possible by his disability.
It's a neurological problem. I forgot the name of it. My second dog had the same problem. His back legs gave out and he was constantly ''dizzy'' and would wobble his head left and right and couldn't walk straight. It's like leg paralysis + being very drunk at the same time. Harmless neurological problem but very sad...
I didn't think I'd be blessed with seeing a duck get groomed, today is a great day.
Damn I'm crying, God bless you for this 🙏
Frankly IS fabulous!! Great video
Girl you are an Angel to these babies.
Not girl with the dogs, ANGEL with the dogs.
2:59 I never thought you could teach a pig to sit but it makes sense somehow lmao
There kinda like training a stubborn dog, they can learn so many tricks’
Thank you so much for what you do for all these precious babies! This is my favorite video of yours so far and the love Frankie and the other animals at the sanctuary are recieving brought tears to my eyes. Thank you also to the sanctuary owners/operators for all they do for the animals as well 💜💜💜
May God bless your beautiful soul. For loving these innocent babies and treating them with respect and dignity as you groom them. ❤
3:23 NO, OUR BATH :D
Thank you for highlighting a farm sanctuary! Someday when I can actually own a home; I'd love to take in some rescue chickens to just let them live out their days enjoying the grass.
I hope you own your own home soon 😊 with lots of cute chicken friends 🐓
I used to do it a lot.
This is also my dream... but I have chickens here where I am and they are precious. I would love to be able to help other animals as well as more chickens!
remember to look into municipal codes before buying a forever home, it'd suck to move into a house and realize you can't keep an animal because of an ordinance.
Bless your heart!!!
Your the best❤️❤️❤️❤️
And Frankie is beautiful.
He’s adorable. It makes me happy to see so many rescued animals that are clearly loved now. You’re doing great work promoting them.
I don't know why but pets named Franky are just on another level
thank you for sharing & showing such kindness & generosity of spirit
I didnt have a specific favourite video of yours before now, as I love all of them, but this video definitely has to take the top spot. I love love love how you interact with Frankie and to see his joy in the bath is beyond heart warming 🥰. You are amazing with all animals ❤
it's so critically important that we recognize the value of all animals lives the same way that we do dogs and cats. it makes no sense to make the distinction. we have so far to go here, thank you for bringing some light to this issue
Amen!
that's why it's important to go vegan :)
@@natashakate1087 agreed! :-)
@@natashakate1087 nope
@@natashakate1087 honestly i wanna go vegan but like theres certain vegans (*cough* thatveganteacher) who's very pushy. maybe one day i'll learn to ignore them.
