I had this when I was 18. Couldn't get out of bed for two weeks. If I did I vomited. I couldn't eat and could bearly sip water. I have never felt worse in my life.

No reason to stay off work or school? You’ve obviously never had it or had it like I did

I had contracted Mono in the summer of 1969 when I was 14. It started just before school let out for the summer, so late-ish May. I was still not 'up to snuff' when class started in early Sept. I was so sick all summer, I couldn't walk to the bathroom, Mom or Dad had to carry me in. I couldn't eat because my throat was raw, so liquids-only for 3 months. I was already underweight by a LOT. I've been sickly my whole life (I am a DES daughter, and EDS too, amongst other medical problems like RA and a NeuroMuscular dis.) Anyway, my spleen was so messed up the doctor wrote a special permission slip...NO PE for the year. Finally, at age 40, I started gaining weight.🤭 Only one other illness has brought me down as fast...and as bad as Mono...and that was my 3rd outbreak of Shingles (Internal Shingles that time).

I had mononucleosis when I was 15/16..I believe I caught it at a NYE party (kissing lots of girls, tut-tut)..fatigue became a problem about a month after NYE as I was a school athlete. Not long after the fatigue set in I had a sore throat that I’ve not experienced since. I had to brace myself to swallow. I had a swollen neck and armpits, missed three months of school and didn’t really regain my athletic form until 9 months later. It was like a year of my life lost. Can’t believe there’s no vaccine for this disease.

No money in it, once you've treated it.
Same with a lot of medicine..
Private health care for you, share holders more important than patient outcome.

You make it sound trivial, not in my case. Caught when I was 21 off work for 6 weeks, went from 10.5 stone to nine stone, extreme fever for a week temperature control completely shot high to low. Needed bed swap in middle of the night as bedding soaked with sweat. Headache, sore throat like I've never experienced. After symptoms cleared still got out of breath climbing stairs

      Yeap fucked me up too.
It's the unknown day to day roller coaster that's the worst bit for me 1 month into the worst of it!
For me they thought it was Quincy so on a drip anti biotics and pain meds over night discharged next day after picking up and day later the fatigue hit me like riding into a concrete wall.

Is it normal to have no sore throat at all? The first symptom I had was lymphadenopathy of the supraclavicular region, under arm, cervical and inguinal regions followed by extreme fatigue, stuffy nose, headaches and stomach pains for 2 months.
Im 25 so my doc said its likely glandular fever but is it really since I've not actually had a fever or sore throat?

One of my relatives got glandular fever 20 years ago, they went from being a really outgoing young lad (15) to a cripple in bed. It went on for months. 25 years later and he has barely left the home since as it developed into crippling version of OCD. I was wondering whether this ever happens to other people or is this just a unique case/ one off? I'm just wondering if it can do something very strange to the brain and nervous system longterm? Thank you.
