I became sick with mono at the end of my 7th grade. I've never been so sick in my entire life. I spent the entire summer sleeping and wasted away to nothing. I couldn't even look at food without vomiting. I was incredibly weak and remember panicking about starting 8th grade and wondering how I was going to get through. I weighed 63 lb the first day of 8th grade. It wasn't until many years later that my parents told me the doctor thought I had lymphoma, at first.
My lymph nodes remained swollen for many years. I went on an elimination diet in my thirties and for the first time the swollen nodes went down. Although I'm active and basically healthy I have never felt as healthy as i wish i could. I truly believe it has affected my health my whole life. I'm 55 now.

Most people are asymptomatic, but I wasn't so lucky. When I was infected, I woke up feeling like I had been hit by a truck. I couldn't eat a cracker without projectile vomiting. Eventually my tonsils and lymph nodes in my throat swelled up so badly I could barely breathe. After I was diagnosed, they told me to go home and get rest and cancel my plans. I shut off my alarm clock since I was still in school and went to bed. When I woke up, two and a half days had passed. I was so weakened I could barely stand and it took about 2 months to feel normal and 6 months to regain the weight I lost. Probably the only time in my life I thought I was going to die.

Seeing this is giving me hope. I used to be an extremely hyper active competitive athlete until I caught mono in 2018. I can’t remember a day without being in pain since then. I catch about 6 viruses a year, I’m in constant agony, and my bloods are always off. At 22 years old, my doctors tell me I’m young and will recover, and that my symptoms COULD be related but it’s “unlikely”. Fighting for justice because this is not a way to live.

I’m lucky enough to have found a doctor to take me seriously, have had so many bloodwork done, so many diet plans, supplements. So much trying to explain myself to people around me. Careers ending prematurely, not strong enough to start a family yet. It’s not a joke, this is really serious. The one thing that has made a different is Low Dose Naltrexone, so I would advise anyone with a similar path to look into that.

I also had severe swollen throat, they thought it was strep but the tests came out negative. They tested me many many times and were very confused it was not strep throat. And then the pain and swollen arm I had too. If you can try to get on antivirals that would be important. This is antivirals they use for other forms of EBV virus. This is Acyclovir, Valtrex, etc. These are used for herpes virus which is a form of EBV. The antivirals may help to suppress the virus and give you some relief. Also natural supplements form of this is lysine and monolaurin. I was vegan 15 years and it is hard to get lysine from vegan or vegetarian diet so I found supplements for lysine can help. Hi everyone I figured I would share my story too and maybe get some answers.
I am 31 years old and was diagnosed with mono when I was 9. Got really sick but recovered. When I was 18 in high school, I got really ill again, missed weeks of school, extremely fatigued, low platelets, enlarged spleen.
4 years ago in college, my liver enzymes went through the roof and I was jaundiced with nausea and vomiting, fatigue, and weight loss. They never found out what it was and it self resolved several months later.
Two months ago, working as a firefighter and going through paramedic school, began experiencing nausea, vomiting, jaundice, and fatigue again. Low platelets, enlarged spleen, elevated AST, ALT, and bilirubin. Hospitalized for 8 days and two months later I still have severe fatigue, brain fog, and dizziness.
The doctors still aren’t quite sure but they think it might have been an EBV induced liver injury. No drugs or alcohol. Based on what I’ve seen about flare ups, it can be due to lowered immune system or physiological or psychological stress.
I hope someone can relate to this and we can all support one another.

My story exactly..every year I get lymph nodes so inflamed and measuring around 4c.m they take them out thinking it's cancer. Well again another inflamed one causing me to be very sick, like the rest. Dr said after core needle biopsy came back as showing signs of something wrong, we could take it out. I told him no, I want to know why this keeps happening. Sent me to an oncologist (my 3rd one) who did bloodwork for EBV and found I have CAEBV. Finally some answers! Been living this nightmare for 11 years. I didn't get mono as a teen. I was around 42 when we figure what they thought was severe strep throat was probably actually mono.

It makes me so sick to feel like this doctor will be hushed, because big Pharma doesn’t make money off of all the myriad of so-called diseases and syndromes that they can sell pills for, their focus is never going to be on a vaccine for this. I took the Covid vaccine and it has definitely pushed me back healthwise. I still stand by taking the vaccine, because Covid could kick my butt even more. Focus on strengthening the body and immune system first, because you will need a strong system to make the vaccine do it’s job!

@@LauraBeeDannon it's just interesting to see if other people even realise how common this virus is. I find a fascinating that most people haven't even heard of ebv even though they probably have it yet they are talking about coronavirus instead and think that they don't have viruses themselves.
