Gas prices a little though the strategic oil reserve. Inflation though interest rates at the Fed. But both take time. Increasing interest rates can also lead to a recession. There is no instant fix to these problems as Trump implies.

I read a book, imagine that 🙂, describing some socialistic programs of the late 50’s. Community pools were given as one example. This was before the Civil Rights Movement. These programs were widely accepted by the white community. However when the community pools were made to accept blacks, whites no longer wanted the pools. The book went on with other examples of people voting against their own interests.

Exactly! And I looked it up a while back cuz trump kept bragging about super low gas prices and it was about 2.20-2.30 a galllon national average for his last year or so in office. But that was mostly due to COVID-19, people were either being laid off or working from home, streets and freeways were almost deserted.No demand and supply becomes cheap.
There was a short time under Clinton (you know, the degenerate that *created a budget surplus*) where gas was under $1, at least in my state.
