I just got into wow 3 weeks ago after playing RuneScape literally since 2004. Learning all the abilities has been and still is a lot to take in being new. My first account im going with is a blood dk and watching this video really helps me comprehend abilities a bit more than just spamming them as I’ve been doing haha. Thank you for this man

I feel like Blood is one of the tougher tanks to use but probably the most fun tbh
Blood is honestly one of the Easier easier tanks. Very simple rotation, a lot of often available cooldowns and you don’t really care about the type of dmg you take at any given moment. You should never need to kite and you can ignore most dungeon mechanics :)

I kind of ran a similar build, but I went more into DS dmg. With Rune of Sanguination, and the talent (forgot name) that makes DS hit increase blood plague dmg. I mixed the perfect amount of survivability with DMG output, and I'm always pulling 20-30k dps. It's really fun getting 30k DS hits (60k crits). Even more when DRW is active.. Im a healer, tank, and DPS all rolled into one.
I really love the flexibility of the specs this expansion.
Please just switch to Fallen Crusader. 15% more str is better than anything ruination does for you. And the heals are not to scoff at
I find myself not using rune tap all the time and it makes me want to move on from it. When I don't have it I find myself wishing I did at curtain times of a fight. I'm so torn with that talent. I think I may not be using my runes as well as I can. I'm healing for 60-80k in a plus 10 and around 40-50k Ave on a 5+ mob pull. While sometimes starving for runic power to pump that much needed death strike. I really enjoyed this video and look forward to trying to use marrow less because that may be apart of my problem also. Old habits die hard.
Thanks for the helpful video, i've been having a lot of trouble keeping threat on aoe packs on my blood dk tank compared to my prot paladin. I never really knew that tombstone could be used in such an offensive way. It should really help me keep threat better in those packs.
Always open with Dancing runeweapon while you run to the pack, then instantly double Bloodboil. Pop down a DND and go ham with heartstrike. And every second pull you will anyways have Abo Limb. With that you basically can’t loose Aggro on pull. If you have neither of those: good luck :D
@@normannseils3936 cheers man. Thats solid advice. I usually start the pull with DND, then i run in and use a marrowrend or Dancing Rune Weapon but the first few seconds in a pull always mess me up.
Starting with the dancing rune weapon might resolve the vulnerability issue at pull.
@@nickvandijk5460 yea, once the pull is running blood can basically stay there as long as it wants. I would always do DRW/Abo limb + Vamp or + IBF. That gets you going with Aggro and boneshields. Sometimes I call a defensiv if that is aviable to you when the pull is very complicated like getting spread out mobs together where DRW has little value. And try to save at least 1 Deathstrikes worth of RP at the end of each pull. So you don’t have to build any when the next pull starts.
Since you have so much CDR on runeweapon and vamp I would use it very aggressively.

Thanks for the video Maz, and really like the changes in DF for the better of the blood dk. I played dk when it first came to retail and play blood and frost in classic. Question, are the only threat generators now death grip and taunt? I know there's no more icy touch so wanted to ask. I just started building my blood dk in retail and looking for some guidance on best approaches with the changes. Looking forward to tanking with my favorite toon.
Those are main taunts yes, all abilities generate threat

most if not all scenarios, you use Rune of the Fallen Crusader. As much as I like Stoneskin Gargoyle. The strength u get from Fallen Crusader is almost always worth it.
I really enjoy the Blood DK gameplay but I'm kinda slow and they have a lot of keybindings needed

Lolol.. Ask a disc priest about getting anyone to stand in barrier...
AMZ is really not worth the global and also makes it harder for your group to dodge swirlies, which we have tons of in this season, if you have good people its another story, but using it on urself at the end is a bad value for the gcd
@@Yilmazfull usually I agree, but there are some frontal magic cones that follow the tank in season 1. Using AMZ for a breath doesn’t mess up anyone else as they shouldn’t be there, and ir saves one of your other defensives for a different situation.

@@Yilmazfull true but usually I like to play all keys like they’re high enough to hurt. Ignoring a mechanic in a 5 because it won’t one shot you just creates bad habits for me. Others may be ok but I’m a creature of habit
I like that bone combo with tombstone.
I won’t say it’s definitive, but I’ve seen a lot of number crunching showing marrow is still better than caress even though it’s 2 for 1 instead of 3 for 2. Reason is a lot of people only have 2 runes recharging at once and that’s a waste. Marrow let’s you get 3 recharging together
oh thats interesting, I'll have a look! but thats some real min max stuff that may not be great information for new Blood dk's who are still learning how to track all the resources and buffs who would quickly run out of runes

Would you mind clarifying? By "adding the whole weakauras" do you mean the addon or an entire pack?

Can use vamp blood + DRW. Keep bone shield up and ds as needed. Ask for externals
Overall is a was an okay video. I would maybe recommend you have some sort of script or maybe go over some things prior to mentioning things. There were a couple times you said Death and Decay when you meant Deaths Caress. And at one point you said "Maintaining your Dancing Rune Weapon stacks" when you meant maintaining your bone shield stacks. So just could be very confusing to new BDK players. Also Marrowrend is a far better ability to maintain boneshield stacks than Deaths Caress. Deaths Caress is great to use initially on a pull to gather boneshield stacks if you are at 0 prior to engaging mobs.

I've been in the PVP scene for so long that I decided to finally give PVE a try out of boredom and made a Blood DK to Tank, Im glad I chose to PVP first throughout all these years, Learning PVE is a literal joke to the above average and high end PVPER due to the fact that as a PVPER you already have gameplay performance and reaction to really shaky situations down packed and all you really need is just knowledge of the dungeon and raid fights and it's repetitive which makes it even easier because when you do a fight long enough you'll understand what comes next, As a PVPER you never know what you're getting into and the tables can turn at any second, Converting from PVP to PVE is a walk in the park, But from PVE to PVP? Heh, Good luck.
For sure. Pvp is legit too fast-paced for a lot of high-end pve players. I know some older guys that can slam +20 keys ez but 100% can’t react to certain pvp situations. That’s why wow is king of mmos tho both types of content are doing very well at the moment

Lmfao...... no..... this is not hard nor complex at all. DKs just have a lot more utility in their kit that works very well for the team. There are plenty of tanks with less utility and more mind numbing hulk-smash if you really want that
@@benrose2845 You're prob right. I'm just dumb when it comes to this class. Now hunter.. I know EVERYTHING! I'm just leveling all my alts, which is one from each class. All good, I know enough to get the dungeon done, but I will park him once he hits 70. My pally tank is my fave tank.
