I have lots of family that live in Yuma. In the early 90s my mom and dad moved there. Mom and I started a cleaning company called The Shining. One of the places we cleaned weekly was The Golden Roadrunners ballroom. Now, I am old enough to join myself. My mom and dad are gone. This video made me cry. I recognized every single place.
Seeing the train crossing into Arizona reminded me of my career with Union Pacific Railroad in that region. Yuma is the crew change point for Los Angeles trains. That main line is the former Southern Pacific RR Sunset Route.
My great grandmothers' brother Wenceslao Ricardo Loustaunau aka THREE FINGERED JACK Birth 3 APR 1869 • Catedral de La, Hermosillo, Ascuncion, Mexico Death 20 AUG 1906 • Yuma Prison, Yuma, Yuma, Arizona. He is buried there. I wrote this comment just before the voice in the cell played that was him. THEY HAD HIS NAME WRONG.
The Cemetery was interesting in that the state of Arizona Prison System, erased these prisoners form the Earth... no headstones. Great tour, Russ! Thanks for all you do!
Hi Russ, Thx for the video :) RUclips dropped your woodplank road video in my suggestions list the other day and it took me little time to subscribe and binch through your channel. Your way of traveling is not too different from my own when i'm on a roadtrip. That, your relaxed rithm in the videos and that i am not able to travel to the US anytime soon, makes me look forward to your next video ;) (meanwhile i'll check out your older videos ;) ) regards, Fenna
Awesome stop and tour ~ I’ve driven through here many times going to San Diego and you’ve convinced me to make that stop now ! Thank you Sir and safe travels ~ enjoy all your posts / videos AND commentary ⭐️
GLAD YOU WENT TO THE CEMETARY. WHEN WE WERE THERE IT WAS CLOSED AS THERE WERE TOO MANY SCORPIONS AND RATTLERS FOR PEOPLE TO SAFELY ENTER. I BELIEVE THE GILA RIVER RUNS INTO THE COLORADO THERE. THE MOVIE WAS THE 3:10 TO YUMA AND IT WAS ACTUALLY MADE TWICE. THE LAST TIME WAS WITH RUSSELL CROWE
Hi Russ, I think the movie you may be referring to is "The 3:10 to Yuma" or there could be other movies. However, the movie I mentioned above was about what happened on the train and the main character going to Yuma. I suspect the destination was the prison.
Visited that prison two years ago in February on my motorcycle from Kofa. Interesting history associated with it? Grocery shopping at my favourite brand Fry's on the way home
The last time I saw that prison it didn't look like that at all. And the cells I saw were much smaller.... They did more than clean the place up ! Oh and yes I am older than dirt ,
Beautiful job R Us well done I've been there a couple times before and it's nice to revisit by way of your video to her I sure in the heck wouldn't have wanted to been in there in the ol-days thanks Russ
Enjoyed the road trip to Yuma, all great stops. Need to check out. Lots of sand on Interstate 8/10, do they call plows sand plows. Thanks Russ! Congrats on 60K plus subscribers.
Nice Russ. Was there last year before getting the covid-19 scare in Havasu later. Now freezing (36° this am) and wet stuck in Olympics (Washington) on business. Can't wait to get back south ASAP. Envying you that weather since my coach furnace started blowing cold 😵.
Beautiful downtown. Really hoping it springs back to life. Too cold and windy up here (so far North , it seems like Antarctica) to have a plum wine spritzer...not sure I could handle one anyways.
Thanks for the video Uncle Roscoe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have spent a lot of time in Yuma and the old downtown area. If you haven't been to Lutes casino, you really should go. It's not a casino, it's a bar restaurant with a lot of neat memorabilia.
Hi Russ, we stoped three about 3 years ago and i talked to the tour guide he told me the original gattiling gun was stolen and the one that is in there now is actually a replica.
Hi Russ, would you reply with the camera set-up you use, and the drone? I am taking my first road trip . I will be gone 10 days, headed to say hello to South Dakota. I would really enjoy having videos I can send to my kids and grandkids. They will be able to see along with me where their grand parents, great , and great great grandparents lived their lives. Hope it’s ok. I enjoy watching your adventures! Robert
I remember visiting back in the 70's. I remember a display that had all the crimes people did to get in there. "Selling liquor and/or guns to the Indians" was a frequent reason.
I visited the prison back in June of 2020 and I went first thing in the morning so I was the only one there...I walked through the grounds twice and on my return to the museum from the jail cells I heard a loud, husky voice exclaim “hey YOU, what are you doing here??” I quickly turned around and didn’t see anyone or anything but ran back into the museum. I’ve been wondering since if there was anyone there messing with me, or if it was in fact a ghostly encounter
Frank Buckskin Leslie is the person who killed Johnny Ringo on Sander's Ranch in Turkey Creek Chiracuahua Mts. on July 13th 1882. Wyatt Earp said of Leslie there was no man as quicker with a 6 shooter, even faster than Doc Holiday.
Russ, did you see any ghosts? I didn't but when I went into the Dark Cell I tried to detect their presence and couldn't. That is, until I went into the darkest part and touched the rock wall. I felt a chill go through my body. I'm guessing the ghosts don't like the light so they keep to the really dark parts.
my parents were married in Yuma 1941 because of the war and you could be 16 yrs old. If the highlight is that old prison in Yuma I have no desire to go.
You are getting better at getting close enough to the story boards for me to pause and read them. Early in the clip I could read a few but later on, all I can see is that there is a story board and it has a picture. If your camera is not at a 90 degree angle to the board, the top is way too tiny to read. You don't have to get the whole story board in the view at one time, if you get closer and scan the left and then the right side we should all be able to hit pause and read some of it, even old geezers like me 68.
"inhumane" You willingly broke the law and went to jail. Which is more "inhumane"? Those that did the bad things, or those that enforced the penalty? I need a beer for that one.

InstaBlaster.
two movies called "3:10 to Yuma", first one came out in 1957 and the newer version 2007, the 3:10 is the afternoon train to Yuma Territorial Prison.
I believe the 2007 movie was filmed in New Mexico, nowhere near Yuma.
Prisoners these days don’t know how good they it. Thanks for the tour
"3:10 to Yuma" 1957 and 2007. Fun history tour. Thanks Again!

In Downtown Yuma check out Lute's Casino, Prison Hill Brewing, and the Antique store who's name escapes me. Yuma is a fun town. Good food scene too.

Interesting town. Looks nicer than I thought. Greener.
Bet it is very hot in the summer months. But very dry heat, maybe it's not that bad then.
Good one Russ!
Great video. I enjoy going to prisons. That's on on my list

Hey Russ , have you ever gone to the Superstition Mountains? By the way love your videos! Keep up the great shows!

👍I’ll have to get there some time
Can you park overnight on those pulloffs that you use? Thanks.
You went to the cemetery but not the guard tower. The best part was the guard tower. I was just down there Monday this week.
