Spent New Years at Tumco and had some great hikes in the canyons and around the mining operations. Very few people, super quiet and conveniently located across from that RV park where we could take care of our holding tanks. Nice people run that place!

Wow I remeber Gold Rock Ranch as a kid My parents would take us their every year to camp Big Rock Hound gathering Kinda a swap meet and camp for a week. I was back in 70s
@ 5:42 I didn't realized you have a new van! And it's a Sprinter! A 177"! Nice! You even have an RVRTV plate on her! That's just GREAT, Russ! 🤣🤣 As I'm sure you know, the dirt devils are all along 127 out of Baker, CA to Shoshone. Then I'd jump on 178 to Pahrump... more dirt devils. They're cool to look at, just never been caught up in one. Man your new van is just AWESOME!!! Thanks for the video, Russ!
We spent many days camped byTumco and all along the BLM on Ogilby Road for free, actually years during the winter. Close enough to Yuma and Algdones . Did so many jeep trail rides and hikes all around there. Only draw back was the sand dunes but where we camped the wind did blow but never bothered us. Then on holidays the sand dunes turned into a city of rigs.
Just a few hundred yards north of where you stopped at Tumco is the gravy yard of Tumco. 2 dozen unmarked Graves. We have camped for years at Tumco, great place to camp. Nice to see you found it, a real gem. Thanks Larry Miller San Diego Ca.
I was really impressed with the Colorado, S.Dakota Utah trip Mt Rushmore was fantastic. Not to impress with desert,I seem it to many times from my many trips to California, I made so many trips all my life, that I know every crack in the highway, lol
On the last shot when the Rhyolite Logo shows up on the screen, to the right of the logo on the horizon you can just make out the thin black line on the horizon which is the Steel USA/MEXICO Border fence. About 2 miles south of Interstate 8.
No rush if you go south of Highway 8 about 3/4 miles you'll run into the All-American canal I go down all the time with my grandson and fish in it huge catfish Fun Spot
Hi Russ. I sent you a hello message to Barbara at the game shop in Quartszite. David Hoffer. Bought a RVrTV sticker. Yay. Stayed in Scaddon. I'm from Washington state and a subscriber. Love your travel videos. Yay. I'll keep watching as long as you post. Thanks pal. Your video is on point.
As usual, these excellent videos are 'topped off' nicely with a drone scan above the countryside. Just thinking how suitable this terrain would have been, including the sand dunes, if the movie 'The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, starring Clint Eastwood, had been filmed here, Instead, they went all the way to Spain !
Anxious to watch this one later tonight. Also, we were just wondering if we missed that video where you went metal detecting and found lots of bottlecaps.
know if you to travel hundred years ago you would have drove on the plank Highway used to be a highway from Yuma across the sand dunes and it was a plank Highway check it up Huell Howser did something on it several years ago who ride
I was born in California my Mom move us out here to Oklahoma after her divorce from my Dad in 1958,I still have family out there & use to in Flagstaff but they are all gone, so everything your showing looks familiar sure brings back memories.
Not many illegal aliens there. The desert is too unforgiving. Camping along there or along Indian Pass Road just north of there is really nice in the winter. The Indian Pass road actually connects to the Colorado River from Ogilby Road and you end up at Winterhaven... right by Yuma but on the California but on the California side of the River. But only if you have a high clearance 4 Wheel Drive vehicle.
Now that was great Tumco hospitality with the dust devil sweeping the road for you.
WOW!! Great shot of the dirt devil!

If you drive further back from the RV park in Gold Rock, you find a little community. They even have a golf course. Amazing.
Wow I remeber Gold Rock Ranch as a kid My parents would take us their every year to camp Big Rock Hound gathering Kinda a swap meet and camp for a week. I was back in 70s

Amazing dirt devil and it even followed the road after it left you which I thought was crazy.
Hey Russ!!! Enjoy the "BUMPS"!!! Good drive for the "BEAST"!!! Be Safe!!!

Did you know there is a smaller grave yard up closer to the ruins? You have to go off-trail a bit to find it. It only has 8 - 10 graves.
Looks interesting! Thanks Russ, as always.
Another great video Russ. Thanks.
I was really impressed with the Colorado, S.Dakota Utah trip Mt Rushmore was fantastic. Not to impress with desert,I seem it to many times from my many trips to California, I made so many trips all my life, that I know every crack in the highway, lol
Good video and a dirt devil too. too cool for school.

I would like to see that ghost town in Cali called Cerra Gordo,I've been to Calico
This van's a rockin! Oh, just a Dirt Devil. Great catch on camera.
Hasn't changed much in the 50 years ago when we went thru that place... Thankfully !
Great trip to another off beat place, thanks Russ for the great video and looking forward to the next destination!!!
Hey Russ! Great video! Love that area!

No rush if you go south of Highway 8 about 3/4 miles you'll run into the All-American canal I go down all the time with my grandson and fish in it huge catfish Fun Spot

Ty. Love your videos. Good job. We now live in Qrartzsite. But love the traveling life. 👍🏻😁🎉♥️
Hi Russ,
Have you considered a Baja California road trip? San Felipe is incredible. The water is clear on the Sea of Cortez.
Cool Russ👍Thanks😀
I really like these videos. Thank you.
Great to see the dirt devil go over the van, love the videos, nothing like that here in the Uk
Wow you lucked out on that Dusty!
The Tumco area and the Cargo Muchaco Mountains southward, were the first gold mined by the Spanish in California area in 1980's
Cool, nice trip
We call those little winds willy willies here in Australia Russ
Neat dirt devil! We don't see those in New England.
Anxious to watch this one later tonight. Also, we were just wondering if we missed that video where you went metal detecting and found lots of bottlecaps.
Very good video, thanks
You missed the smiley-face @ 11:44 in the video.🙂
Looks like Tumco had a rail spur, judging by the raised railbed next to the access road.
Good thing you had those stabilizers applied to The Beast's rear-end, Russ, or you might have ended up in Kansas!
POWMIA under Stars and Stripes looks telling it's no ghost town :) anyway, dirt devil is really cool.
I aagree, "got love the desert"!
The dust devil almost got Russ...!
👍👍 Thanks.
thanks russ
Cool
When your in a little car and one of those catches you, you will understand the term;"I feel like a fart in a whirlly dog. Yee haaa!
Awesome Dirt Devil.
Wow, how'd you arrange that twister?
Cool Dort Devil
Place could be a spot for remake of Don Knot's movie; Ghost & Mr. Chicken. Maybe that's the spirit of the Bugs Bunny's co star Taz (or Mrs.T Devil).
Sorry not going to Poloisy land where owning a pistol can land you in jail.
people in Mexico would say that road is a very good main road
They would where we live too!
People in mexico would use this road to leave Mexico behind
Racist
know if you to travel hundred years ago you would have drove on the plank Highway used to be a highway from Yuma across the sand dunes and it was a plank Highway check it up Huell Howser did something on it several years ago who ride
👍👍😊
Tons of foxes on the Tumco ghosttown side. They will come right into your camp at night. Not especially skittish either.
Spooky ghost
I was born in California my Mom move us out here to Oklahoma after her divorce from my Dad in 1958,I still have family out there & use to in Flagstaff but they are all gone, so everything your showing looks familiar sure brings back memories.
DUST devil, not dirt devil
California doesn't fix their roads
It's the southwest. 😂😂
Watch out for illegal alliens
Not many illegal aliens there. The desert is too unforgiving.

Patches? That's CA for you. All that tax money and they can't even pave the roads.
YAY
