I lost my home a couple of years ago... Upon waking up in my car that first morning in February, I felt the most tremendous sense of relief... All of the stress was completely gone! No more bills! No more 3000$ a month rent! All I had to do was put my seat up and drive to the store to get something to eat... That's it. :) So I totally understand when Carolyn says "The anxiety is all gone." Yup!!
Even if you do not have a mortgage just the bills alone is enough to drive people insane, I cannot blame people for making this radical move. more power to you all.
The more I watch these videos the more I am interested. Being nearly 80, and having a daughter who worries, maybe not a good idea, but what the heck is life if one doesn't try what interests. I paint and would love to be able to go places where I could sit down for a while and paint.
What does your daughter worry about? Your death? Better to die in a van looking at a sunset than have kids fight over your inheritance while they force you to 'bedrest'. Get out there woman, and quit dreaming and start livin'! We are all getting older, and so what?
I'm thinking seriously about doing this, and I appreciate your giving us some encouragement to live independent, debt-free lives. Like you, Carolyn, I'd rather be a nomad, free to see the country, than a slave to debt, paying someone else's mortgage and being stuck in a run-down little house I don't own or have any control over. Your home is YOURS and that's the point. You go, girl! and Thanks!
I'm looking at this video again many months later and it hit me that Carolyn just did just enough to get her set for the road... rather than get bogged down with overwhelming details... these actually are the best interviews because they show courage in breaking out of the rat race.
This is the first time I have come across Caravan Carolyn's interview with Bob. I have seen almost all of her videos and I think she is a great lady. Thank you, Carolyn, for introducing me to van life 6 yrs ago. I have so enjoyed seeing your life on the road. Best wishes and always stay safe. Helene/Tx
I heard Carolyn say that it doesn't matter that that she can't stand up in her van, because she is outside a lot. I found out that the bigger the "camper" the less you go outside to enjoy the world. Great video Bob. Carolyn is so pretty and we always enjoy her videos too. Keep 'em coming!!!
This is a very special need to hear people speak from the heart like Carolyn. Bob you are amazing how sensitive you are to interview all your guests. I spent my whole life carrying for dysfunctional youth and youth offenders in my own treatment center . You are correct how your tone of voice reflects your sincerity. Thanks for you great example of a human being.
She is a very well educated lady, and she is bubbling with joy of her new life style. It makes me happy to see others who are genuinely happy. Bob your a great inspiration for others and all your videos is over the top.
Don't be fooled by the happiness you see on camera. When the camera stops rolling the loneliness and despair sets in. I personally would rather die than live in such cramped surroundings without running water or the ability to take a nice long hot soak in my tub or the ability to use a toilet and flush it and wash my hands with soap and hot water after. In my view, this kind of life is good for a few weeks or a few months, but certainly not for the long haul. There are so many other better options than being a permanent van dweller, pooping in buckets and using funnels to pea.
I adore Carolyn and watch her channel religiously. Only Carolyn could do a commercial for a flexible funnel; she is so real! Thank you Bob for interviewing Carolyn.
Great job Bob I've been watching Carolyn's channel for some months now, she' seems like a wonderful person and a model for those who think they also would like to give nomading a try. You truly are the Guru...
I subscribe to Carolyn’s channel too & she is delightful and very informative on the full time RV lifestyle, as are you, Bob. Thanks so much for sharing the tour of her van home-really neat, simple setup.
Carolyn is a fun lady! She and other full-timers welcomed me into their camp when I was traveling, and I will never forget their generosity and friendship!
Great interview. I recently posted on Carolyn's channel that she looks younger and prettier now than she did in the beginning of her videos when she was still in her house. Van life certainly seems to agree with her.
All the van/camper/RV people all look like the happiest people in the world....while I sit with a violent drunk as a landlord below me. I wish I could try living like this!
I'm so tired of having horrible, scary neighbors. Even in nice towns I end up with the meth-head below me, screaming in the driveway until 3am. I cannot WAIT to buy a van and hit the road.
persiamotorman I'm just started research on this type of living. I'm so tired of apartment living. Noisy upstairs neighbors. So I'm hoping to hit the road in January.
@Patriot Jefferson so true. we could likely live w/half or less of the stuff we have as these folks found out. Closet full of clothes, cabinets full of dishes/glassware that we'll never use, bedrooms sitting vacant for years...paying for the trappings. Gotta give up a lot to camp too so not an easy ans.
So this is Carolyn 2 months into van life. Beautiful lady. But van life agrees with her. She looks so much younger now. I believe her when she says life is less stressful now. 💘
You can't dictate what an individual needs. Some people DON'T NEED or WANT a "HomeBase" and that is just fine for them. What YOU/OTHERS NEED or WANT is fine and works for YOU. And YOU should enjoy that.Interesting vandwellers and nontraditional home owners are not trying to impose their perspectives of life on you.
it has really changed thinking as well when it comes to living life free. What's the point in paying the government property taxes each year or expensive bills. Why not just live free from it all. Being Canadian all need my passport, travel 6months at a time to the USA to get away from the cold depending on what I can afford. It would be a dream come true to just live the that life.
Brian Berkes that is insane taxes. And what do you get in return for it. Lousy education for the kids who don't appreciate it, lousy roads and cops that harrass you.
64maxpower oh yeah I'm sick of the socialist s that have taken over our country. And Obamacare tax that taxes you so you can't afford to go to the doctor.
Laura Anderson I agree. She is beautiful and that smile. Very bright, articulate lady. I think a lot of us realize in our fifties that life isn't about material things and it's the simple things in life that make us happy.
Forever karma your very angry and hateful person.... smh I hope you never need help from a cop in your life, but chances are you will so why not just spread love and kindness not hate and jealousy?? Try it, I know you have a heart in there❤️✌🏼🙏🏼
This lady is way more put together and 'glam' than I've ever aspired to be in my life! Just goes to show, live your life as you choose to- be who you want to be, living her best life Good for you
This is a good interview for someone on a budget! Seems like some of your interviewees have enough money to live more comfortably than others, but this lady knew exactly what she would “need” for the nomadic life. “Wants” can come as she can afford them...smart woman, and also so cute! Thank you, Bob, for helping these people live their “best” lives!
Simply Beautiful. I have watched hundreds of videos on tiny houses, and nomad living. This is the video that has made up my mind that my next home will be mobile. Thank you Carolyn. ~Smile!
It's sooo wonderful to see people find happiness with such a simple life. This life free them of stress. The whole thing is people helping people. Bob is such a great guy helping others ease into this nomad life.
Carolyn is so positive and upbeat. She epitomizes what being truly happy with your life looks like. Lots of money and ‘things’ that require so much of your life just to maintain doesn’t equal happiness. I suppose for some, things do mean happiness. That’s something I personally don’t understand or agree with. She’s a very lucky woman to have found what makes her happy. Good interview.
Love this lady and you can see the glow in her eyes....stress free and happy...and if she is financially better off and having that freedom must be fabulous...well done Carolyn xx
I watched this right after this video was made and she had been on the road 2 month. I went to her site and subscribed and have been following her ever since, Thanks Bob and Carolyn.
U go girl! I love it and am really looking into living that life as well. I have really gotten over living for this world and I am not attached to stuff and don't need a lot to live for God. I just really want to live free and travel and go where God leads me while telling others about the good news of Salvation through Jesus Christ. I wish you well and pray for your safety, peace and traveling mercies. 😘😇
Melissa Mills I am SERIOUSLY looking to get into this lifestyle! I'm researching this now! SPREAD THE GOODNEWS OF JESUS CHRIST! VERY DISENCHANTED with the things of this world!
God bless you, dear sister! I have also been looking into van life for the same reasons! God willing I really want to try it next year but while keeping my current job and using the extra money to pay debts and help those who have need. I really want to have less things in this world to tie me down. Our treasure is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven!
Listening to how these nomadic folks are so happy to be stress free and less anxiety riddled really speaks volumes about the sicknesses in the status quo society. They make a lot of sacrifices to be liberated from the everyday societal nightmare formally dubbed "the American dream."
I just want to reach out to her through your channel because I know she has the comments turned off. I love your videos Carolyn and I started watching your videos because my friend is moving into her van. My friend has sick parents who are elderly, and kids, and a boyfriend, who all live in different places. Plus after losing just about everything from a divorce, it all just makes the most sense right now in her life. I hear you loud and clear about cyber bullying and depression, and we just lost a sweet member of vanlife community named Lee from Lee and Max. I never saw it coming. But it's so true that people are really sensitive and comments and words hurt. They started a fund to prevent cyber bullying in Lee's honor. I know there are a lot of sensitive people out there like us, and I would rather be a sensitive person than a bully any day. I hope you keep making inspiring videos to show others how this lifestyle can work and can be so fun for people who want to save money and travel. Please take a big hug and all the good energy I'm sending you! Thanks for your time and for making other people inspired.
Looking forward to the day that I join the freedom that nomadic living brings to us. Thanks for sharing your van with us Carolyn and the flexible funnel is an awesome idea!!! Happy Travels and blessings from PDX
Thanks so much for sharing her story, Bob... What a joy to feel her joy...as she begins her new life, and to see the many practical ways she's making it work! I always love how you showcase each person's spirit, passion and journey...and invite others to have the courage and foresight to see if it works for them! I just keep enjoying your videos and keep telling others because your insights have been so very helpful already. Looking forward to implementing many of them...as doors open! (And I love the spirit of cooperation and win-win as you promote each other's channels and blogs and such!)
Bob, I am wondering if the nomad community uses any websites or other resources to find people who would allow you to spend a few nights on their property. I would love to offer my property to nomads for short term stays. I have 5 beautiful acres close to the freeway just outside of Sacramento CA.
Jason, you are welcome to post on the forum at www.cheaprvliving.com! Another resource you might look into is Boondocker Welcome boondockerswelcome.com. What a generous offer!
What a beautiful lady, personality wise as well. I really enjoyed your video with Carolyn, she is appreciative of everything she has, and has proven that living in a van is not a hardship for her. Her glass is definitely half full!
It is just amazing how many people live in cars an vans an RVs . its like if we all did that an no one lived in the ridiculously high priced apartments an homes they would have to lower there prices were I live they just built new apartment one bedrooms starting at 1,400 a month not including utilitys an the one bedrooms that are not from new apartments start at 1,100 utility not included its just insane
The more I watch your videos, Bob, I'm more excited about van life and I'm also more educated and feel assured I made the right decision. I bought a van that I can't stand up in and since it costs $10,000 extra for that I'm glad I got what I have. Thanks so much both of you for this video.
We all should be living like this until banks and corporates run out of people to sell for. The younger generation should start following this lifestyle until homes go down below 25k per home .
@@samlsd9711 .....You and Zia "get it". People are no more social these days than 30 years ago. I easily see this and much more. There's a reason mental illness is a huge problem rarely talked about in detail. Society is way too"plugged in" at a young age. Zippo self discovery ever accomplished. So many people act so identical too. I actually have studied this about people through so much interaction with others. These interviews show how a normal persons personality and thinking should be! Try and find one out ten people in a working class neighborhood who can express themselves like these rv'ers. It's downright scary to listen to people's terrible logic and so much more. Yep...perfect obedient worker bees that have no identity and need to "buy" their identity in various ways. Profiling them is so easy and amazingly accurate. Heck, there's only a few options to sadly have to choose from.
So true. I think this is just the beginning. What it will be like when millions are doing this, well....... But until then this looks like a really gr8 way to go. J
Carolyn, just discovered you & subscribed immediately. I sold my van last summer due to high cost repairs but I've been sick ever since. Right before I sold it I had mapped out a drawing of how I would create a home for me & my cats - now looking back I wish I had put a little more $ in it & hit the road. I am pretty much a loner who loves life & animals this lifestyle seems perfect for me. I'll be watching. Continue to shine.
I lost my home a couple of years ago... Upon waking up in my car that first morning in February, I felt the most tremendous sense of relief... All of the stress was completely gone! No more bills! Not necessarily a "radical" move at that. :)

There’s been a lot of changes in Carolyns life since she made this vid! But it seems she’s still quite happy as of 2021. I wish her the best.

"Why aren't you?" my favorite part of the entire video...... Beautiful woman enjoying her retirement.
I’m so stressed out about my property taxes this $7000 a year. This woman looks like a breath of fresh air
Property taxes are government's way of stealing from everybody & building a few roads & whatever. Glorifying themselves that they doing things for you
No way in hell I'd pay $7000 in property taxes. I'd get the hell out of that place.

Thanks so much for sharing her story, Bob... What a joy to feel her joy...as she begins her new life, and to see the many practical ways she's making it work! I always love how you showcase each person's spirit, passion and journey...and invite others to have the courage and foresight to see if it works for them! I just keep enjoying your videos and keep telling others
because your insights have been so very helpful already. Looking forward to implementing many of them...as doors open! (And I love the spirit of cooperation and win-win as you promote each other's channels and blogs and such!)
Wow she is truly lovely and her happiness radiates! She has a great smile as well.
Mouse Toes Thank you Toes!
That's so cool Jason!!!
What a beautiful lady, personality wise as well. I really enjoyed your video with Carolyn, she is appreciative of everything she has, and has proven that living in a van is not a hardship for her. Her glass is definitely half full!
she's adorable. I will follow her for sure.
Been following Carolyn for a while. She Rocks.
John Price thank you John!
Carolyn is way ahead of the game in the future this lifestyle is going to be normal.
Chik Pea I think so too.
What a pretty lady! She is beaming ear to ear and u can tell she really loves her situation! Safe travels! X
Great interview with Carolyn!!! 😁👍 I know her personally so this is so cool that you got to meet her. Hugs 👍😉💓😄🚐
😙😊💜👍
A lovely woman. Wishing her and her cat one day after another filled with fun.
We all might be living this way soon. If things get bad..
We all should be living like this until banks and corporates run out of people to sell for. The younger generation should start following this lifestyle until homes go down below 25k per home .
@Zia Smith I 100% agree about the capitalism disease. It's turning humans to emotionless robots.
