- Marc Lamont Hill sits down with Vernon Jones, Republican candidate for Georgia governor, who
said that he would ban critical race theory if elected.
Republican-led states are moving forward with a ban on the teaching, saying that it's "un-American."
When asked to define what critical race theory is, Jones could not answer what he'd be banning, leading to a heated conversation with Hill.

It's mind boggling that the American public is being duped into believe that CRT is being taught in k-12 public schools. Ask the people that actually WORK in schools like teachers, school leaders and curriculum professionals.
Yeah, hard to understand why people would think CRT is being taught in the schools when the teachers union says they will defend it. The problem is that both sides stick to their talking points and ignpore the reality of the situation. Lamont is an educated man who knows alot about CRT, so for Vernon to act the way he did was completely wrong and really shows his ignoranace. However, Lamont is being disengenious to say that CRT is not being taught in schools. Technically he is right, CRT in it's orginal form is not being taught in the public schools, however, RT (race thinking without the critical part) is being taught. Teaching that America is still a sytemically racist and white supremacist country falls under the new modern ideology of CRT and is being taught in our schools. There are advocates who are pushing that the teaching of math is racist and says focusing on a right answer
could be a form of white supremancy. So yes, that is not CRT, but this what they are trying to push into our schools. The left initially used the term CRT because it has a long estabilished history, sounds good, and is actually a good thing. But then when the right realized they really aren't teaching CRT, they are teaching just the RT part of it, the left now makes the arguement we aren't teaching "CRT" and wants to debate over the definition of CRT so they can say, "see we aren't teaching that". So it has become a game of semantics and both sides end up losing.

That first question he was asked to define what it is he wants to ban was on point. The fact that he could not just define it does not speak in his favour whatsoever.
If you propose a "theory" it is not the responsibility of your critics to to disprove you. It is your responsibility to make your claim. But I guess that is the scientific method, which is part of white supremacy.
I suppose, if you assert an idea as an a priori truth, or an axiom, you have no obligation to support your idea.

If you come to a show to debate or discuss about something you are against and want to ban you absolutely have to describe what your understanding of that thing is.

Do you know what CTR is. The host gave a complicated picture of CTR that had no meat on it.
I can simply explain a major part of CTR that has people so angry.
CTR has a new definition of racism therefore almost all Americans and most American laws and custom become racist.
CTR views Black people less as individuals and more as a group.
Racism is about power not evil thinking.
With the new definition almost no Black people can be racist
The average white person dose not hate people due to their DNA or color and American law is colorblind.
But according to CTR colorblindness is racist. Not wanting to learn CTR is racist.
The only people who can mitigate the new racism are experts.
Telling people who don’t hate Black people that they are racist is outrageous to them.
Also white people are collectively responsible for slavery and segregation legacies even though 90% of them oppose segregation

It’s actually a problem that PhDs are a dime a dozen nowadays. There are a lot of good articles on it. You could even tell Dr Hill waffled in this interview on whether a PhD made him an expert on the topic, so I think Dr Hill is aware of the issue; most likely anyways.
@@kw2080 no that’s not the problem. As someone who had phd there are not an abundance of us. There is actually a shortage. The issue arises that universities don’t want to pay PhDs in the liberal arts to be precise
@@chalkywhite2598 Thank you, Chalky. 👏👏👏
@@chalkywhite2598 I think it's because many PhDs don't add value to society. Those universities know that there is no market for those fields, so they can pay whatever they want. The value of a PhD depends on what degree field it's in. Like what is a person with a PhD in woman's studies or race studies going to seriously do with that degree? Not everyone can become Marc Lamont Hill. There is only so much room for these social commentator types in our society! It's a joke because hardly anyone values those fields in the marketplace. Those are status degrees that don't mean much financially. For example, I have a master's degree in psychology. It was the biggest mistake of my life. There is barely any money in the social sciences or liberal arts because those things no longer are major drivers of society. The fields are almost entirely government or large institution dependent financially. Luckily, I was good enough at math to go back and get a computer science degree. I now make 4 times what I was making before, and I get to work with truly brilliant people.

Some of these laws still are on the books till this day. Regardless of if they’re enforced. The laws the have passed recently are more covert in the way they a written out. Think about how “Stop and Frisk” has been used to incarcerate black “super predators” like the Clintons call it. Or even the way crack cocaine vs powder, depending on which you get caught with can determine if you spend a few years(for powder) vs. a decade or more in jail(for the rock).
CRT is all about the laws, and any claim that the average white citizen is responsible is strictly an attempt to wake white people up to how they benefit from the laws in a way black people don’t and if acknowledging that is wrong than I’m 100% incorrect 😅

*The Massacre of 1921: Tulsa, Oklahoma*
*The Massacre of 1923: Rosewood, Florida*
*The Black Teen Holocaust of 1959: Arkansas*
&
*The Massacre of 2015: Charleston, South Carolina*
Just to name a few. This is a small portion of the atrocities done here in America towards blacks specifically but there are horrible things that have been allowed by our government against all its citizens.

@@Blackkrimson89 That cop was convicted of murder and in solitary confinement in a maximum security prison. No evidence to suggest it had anything to do with racism, but either way the system is working effectively. What does that have to do with the fact that Lamont correctly called CRT a fart?
Because grade school teachers don't know what Critical Race Theory (CRT) is, how can they teach it? The subject requires a sophisticated analysis of how the law affects race from many vantage points ie., voting rights & suppression, policing, incarceration, education, school finance, housing access, healthcare access & outcomes, etc. Reforming institutions, structures and systems undermining racial equity is the goal. CRT doesn't involve targeting White school children or Asians, for example, nor personalities like "Bull" Connor, Donald Trump or David Duke. So, one may ask why is CRT an issue? Let me answer it thusly: It would honor Americans to refrain from carrying water for Donald Trump and his acolytes, who are perpetrating a cynical, race-based disinformation campaign targeting Native Black Americans via Critical Race Theory, Voter Suppression and Black Lives Matter, the purposes of which are to divert attention from his vast state-federal legal troubles and fortify his base so it supports such shenanigans, to gain political power they could not otherwise with integrity obtain--which takes into consideration decreasing GOP demographics, to undermine American democracy and, many believe, instigate a race war. The breath and depth of this Trumptonian treachery is horrific for being based on lies, which many believe with cult-like devotion. But as he showed America before he became the most powerful man in the world, dude is wholly unsuited for being anything, except the perfect Russian asset. Stated differently, sociopaths are not a remedy. And the memory of Jim Jones helps prove it. With due respect. (KFB 8.24.21)
I’ve watched many, many videos and still, NO ONE can define it!
I’ve heard it defined several times.
Maxine Armstrong , I too have heard it clearly defined. Perhaps you simply don’t understand. Critical Race Theory is based on a premise that race is a social construct that systemically oppresses and exploits Non-White people by using legal institutions , in this country , to create and maintain systems of racial inequality to benefit White people. The concept of Critical Race Theory isn’t new. It emerged from the scholarly examination and writings of legal scholars, such as Derrick Bell, who was a law professor at Harvard University, during the early ‘70’s. He was also a civil rights activist.
Mark Lamont Hill did not clearly explain the concept of Critical Race Theory..
@@baderinwa1 He didn’t. What he said was vague as hell.
@@derrionarrington link please?
🤣🤣🤣the way he keeps saying "well..."
You know he has no actual definition
He is being so petty😅😂😂
I saw him do an interview with a white lady on ABC, he threw race at her right away, then over talked her the entire time, and accused her of trying to shut him up 🙄😬
I love this guest!!! Now THAT is an American!!!! God bless that man
