I have a degree in economics from the self-proclaimed “most Marxist economic department in America.” My professors were mostly self-identified Marxists. I know a thing or two about Marxism. Critical Race Theory-more specifically, the concept of ‘Equity,’ which is the desire to use the government to equalize economic outcomes among racial groups-is Marxist. Marc repeatedly says he would “dispute” the link to Marxism but never does so. I’d love to hear him explain how Equity differs from race-based Communism.
The University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Look it up. Also, why is your handle Roland Fryer? Are you the Harvard economist here on YT calling people “jacktards”?
Critical Race Theory is a method of analysis. It can be used on law. It can be used on economics. It can be used on education. It can be used on anything and it is being used on everything in our society currently. When laypeople call something CRT they mean the methods of analysis created by CRT are being applied to whatever endeavor they’re talking about.
@Mordecai Tha Great It is wrong to apply CRT to everything. It is wrong to apply a CRT lens to every facet of existence in the same way it would be wrong to use an economic lens to explain every event or a theoretical physics lens to explain every event or a sociological lens to explain every event. No way of thinking about the world should become the default way of understanding all events. CRT is *one* way of analyzing the world among many, and we need to recognize that it is better suited for some applications and worse for others. CRT is a totalizing worldview. I think the people who push for its application to every facet of society are merely following CRT to its natural conclusion. That conclusion--that CRT best explains every outcome we observe--is incorrect though. Hence my first point that we need to recognize that in many contexts there are more effective ways of viewing the world than through a CRT lens. I could comment on how people who want to apply CRT to every facet of society come across, but I doubt that would be productive. CRT is a theory because it is one way among many of *interpreting* facts. There are facts and then there are interpretations of those facts. For instance, someone using the CRT lens might say "Black people are 25% of police shootings and only 13% of the population. That's a 12% disparity. Therefore, policing *is* racist." The exact same set of *facts* could be rephrased as "Police encounter approximately 6,000,000 black people in the course of their duties per year. On average, 225 black people are fatally shot by police per year. Of those black people shot by police per year, approximately 50 are unarmed. Of those unarmed black people shot by police each year, approximately 8 were shot under unjustified circumstances and the police officers involved in those shootings are either being investigated or have been charged with a crime. That means 99.99% of police encounters with black people are justified and conducted appropriately. Therefore, policing is *not* racist." counciloncj.foleon.com/policing/assessing-the-evidence/policing-by-the-numbers/ www.statista.com/statistics/585152/people-shot-to-death-by-us-police-by-race/ www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/investigations/police-shootings-database/ The problem is not a failure to understand the facts on either side, it is the interpretation of those facts. CRT is a questionable, and frankly unsophisticated, method of interpreting facts and it should not be applied widely.
Martin Luther King, the Black preachers who led the Civil Rights Movement, old lady sharecroppers like Fannie Lou Hammer and the little children being beaten, hosed and attacked by dogs were ALL called "Marxist tools of the Kremlin." Rabidly Racist J Edgar Hoover had files on all of them, calling them "Communists threats" Predictably and lazily, whenever wt Americans feel their wt -ness or wealth being challenged, they cry ,"Communism!!!" It's truly embarrassingly ignorant to try to say that undoing 402 years of legalized racial oppression and even studying the laws that allowed this crime against humanity to exist, is somehow "Communism". What is fascinating to me, is how automatically your brains use this mediocre logic to protect the thing you swear doesn't exist. You'll even go as far as trolling us on Black discussion forums, imposing your twisted worldview with your syllogistic lazy mediocre logic. Your Gaslighting tactic of making yourselves the victim, after burning down our towns, stealing our wealth, creating the ghettoes with redlining and a host of laws to help you, this is the definition of MALIGNANT NARCISSISM.

Ms, Wheeler's point is correct: To fully understand the methodology and objectives of Critical Race Theory, you need to understand Critical Theory. It is NO coincidence that the two are nearly identical in their names. Where CT deconstructed institutions looking for innate bias toward maintaining class differential, CRT takes the same approach with race, instead of class. (BTW it is also no coincidence that the two black female founders of BLM are self proclaimed socialist Marxists). The reason this is vitally important is because we Liberals believe that Enlightenment Liberalism - which focuses on individual liberty rather than than oppressor-oppressed identitarian/tribal categories - is the approach CRITICAL to maintaining our government by THE people (i.e. democracy via constitutional republic). Unlike many constitutional western governments, the US has a government founded on ideals, NOT nationalist identities (at least that is our ideal, I'm not saying that we have been true to this ideal until more recently in our history). Following the identity politics model that does not trust individualism/liberalism, we are likely to "balkanize" into mutually hostile groups based on identity. Attempting to live up to our Liberal ideals will solve the problems (as much as they can be) identified as "oppressor-oppressed" in institutional bias. There is NO magic bullet to solve all problems. Liberalism goes as far as we can go before we reach the point of diminishing returns (in democratic institutions) before we move toward totalitarianism, which is what the far left and far right are attempting - whether they realize it or not. Reject CRT, support true liberal values. Reject BLM, support sensible police reform.
Malcom X explained Liberals political 🏈🏈strategy very well. This govt system needs to go, not maintained or salvaged. U.S. citizens are being oppressed across the board. Define liberalism, and what your problem with it is. What would you like to see liberalism replaced with? Why does anything Malcolm X have to say relevant to this topic? Appeal to authority isn't a defensible position. Should I quote the Bible? Do the voice of the prophets trump Malcolm X. The same goes with Che Guevara or any revolutionary - right or left. Who cares what they say, if the implementation of their ideology doesn't result in a better society and political system. And when has this been the case? Do you really want to refer to revolutionaries given their track record? The only revolution I'm aware of working for any length of time was the revolution that founded a democratic republic based on liberal ideas. Marx and Muhammad had nothing to do with the eventual success of the US system. I believe it is a mistake to conflate liberalism with racism and capitalism - which seems to be what you're implying. There is no system that would not work if EVERYONE supported it. That is the problem. The ONLY system that can work where people disagree, use a political process to change governments peacefully is this one. It would be a mistake to believe the system is flawed. It's ideology that is flawed. White supremacy, for example. Marxist-communism is another example. There are many bad ideas but very few systems that allow bad ideas to be tried and discarded without great bloodshed (ofcourse we had our bad idea - slavery - that did end in bloodshed). Give me examples of US citizens being oppressed "across the board." Saying that liberals don't want revolution is a question begging statement because you're implying revolution is necessary when you haven't made the case for it. Confusing the conversation away from the core issue by getting bogged down arguing over academic jargon is what the host seems to be doing here. She just confronted Hill with simple evidence of what CRT looks like when applied in the real world. She just sighted a real world example of racism being practiced against White kids, through the curriculum by quoting directly out of the material being used, in public schools in the state of IL. That is not an isolated teacher, classroom or school, but a whole state! That is disturbing. She asks, is it appropriate to do that. Finally gets him to admit: no it is not appropriate. Because that position is indefensible. Marc does not dispute the basic facts that she sighted, that associates white people with the devil, that it is being taught on a wide scale. But then instead of saying, Oh eureka! I see your point! I see why people are outraged. instead proceeds to deflect with non-sequitors: but what does this have to do with CRT? Huh? Are you for real Marc? Her whole point is, it doesn't matter what the hell you call it, it does not matter what academic word salad you use. Her point is whatever theory leads to teaching kids people with white skin are associated with evil simply because of their skin color, that is immoral and racist. You don't have to get a PhD or even a 4-year degree to get this simple concept.

"Most of the activity of the Department was to compile huge amount, volume of information on individuals who were instrumental in creating public opinion, publishers, editors, journalists, actors, educationalists, professors of political science, members of Parliament, representatives of business circles. Most of these people were divided roughly in two groups, those that would toe the Soviet foreign policy. They would be promoted to the positions of power through media and public opinion manipulation. Those who refused the Soviet influence in their own country would be character assassinated or executed physically, counter-revolution.Same way, as in the small town of Hue, in South Vietnam, several thousands of Vietnamese were executed in one night when city was captured by Vietcong for only two days. And American CIA could never figure out, how could possibly Communists know each individual, where he lives, where, where to get him and would be arrested in one night, basically, arrested four hours before dawn, put on a van, taken out of the city limits and shot? The answer is very simple. Long before Communists occupied city there was extensive network of informers, local Vietnamese citizens who knew absolutely everything about people who are instrumental in public opinion, including barbers and taxi drivers. Everyone who was sympathetic to United States was executed.Same thing was done under the guidance of the Soviet Embassy in Hanoi. And same thing I was doing in New Delhi. To my horror, I discovered that in the files were people who were doomed to execution. There were names of pro-Soviet journalists with whom I was personally friendly.Yes. They were idealistically-minded Leftists who made several visits to USSR and yet the KGB decided that counter-revolution or drastic changes in political structure in India, they would have to go. Because they know too much. Simply because, you see, the useful idiots, the Leftists who are idealistically believing in the beauty of Soviet socialist or Communist or whatever system when they get disillusioned, they become the worst enemies. That’s why my KGB instructors specifically made a point, never bother with Leftists. Forget about these political prostitutes. Aim higher. This was my instruction. Try to get into wide circulation, established conservative media. Reach the filthy rich movie makers, intellectuals, so-called academic circles, cynical, ego-centric people who can look into your eyes with an angelic expression and tell you a lie. These are the most recruit-able people. People who lack moral principles who are either too greedy or to suffer from self-importance, they feel that they matter a lot. These are the people who KGB wanted very much to recruit. They serve purpose only at the stage of destabilization of a nation. For example, your Leftists in the United States, all these professors and all these beautiful civil rights defender, they are instrumental in the process of subversion, only to destabilize the nation. When the job is completed, they are none, they are not needed any more. They know too much. Some of them, when they see the Marxist-Leninists come to power, obviously, they get offended. They think that they will come to power. That will never happen, of course. They will be lined up against the wall and shot. But, they may turn into the most bitter enemies of Marxist-Leninism when they come to power. And that’s what happened in Nicaragua. - Yuri Bezmenov 1985

Marc asks this same exact and very conveniently narrow question in ALL his interviews. It's just a debate tactic to divert attention away from the outgrowth of the issue. He seems bent on narrowing the conversation only to the academic version of CRT and failing to connect the dots to the tactics that ARE being used in K-12 educatioin as well as corporations and other institutions. If we want to specifically say that CRT, as written by his narrow description of "CRT Theorists" is not being taught, then that is true. However, if that is the case then why are you concerned about something that is not being taught? And why do you no acknowledge that the tactics used by Kendi and Robyn DiAngelo are nefarious theater that has zero chance of actually making black lives better.

@@LordBackuro Critical thinking means not believing everything you hear, but examining it's validity. It can lead to a lot of things. Critical thinking applied to tired, old American myths reveals why the oppression still keeps certain groups down while others move up by climbing on the backs of those oppressed.
@@LordBackuro That's an interesting idea. But no, CRT is based in part on many phenomena observed by attorneys in various legal proceedings. The classic example was one in which a black woman had a solid case for hiring discrimination. The company hired black men to do hard labor and hired white women to work in the office to serve the clients. But they didn't have any place for a black woman. So, they turned her down. The judge said that the idea that discrimination based on combination of factors (like gender and skin color) hasn't been found in the case law, and he refused to set a precedent--and he ruled against her. The woman's attorney then began a discussion with the legal community about how the existing legal process haven't been informed by marginalized people, and therefore contain monumental gaps that prevent protecting them (and includes things that directly harm them). Many other amazing discussions have arisen over the decades. CRT is only one part of those discussions.

Therefore, policing *is* racist."
The exact same set of *facts* could be rephrased as "Police encounter approximately 6,000,000 black people in the course of their duties per year. Therefore, policing is *not* racist."

www.statista.com/statistics/585152/people-shot-to-death-by-us-police-by-race/
www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/investigations/police-shootings-database/
The problem is not a failure to understand the facts on either side, it is the interpretation of those facts. CRT is a questionable, and frankly unsophisticated, method of interpreting facts and it should not be applied widely.
@Roland NAAWP Fryer You didn't say anything about equity, you racist idiot. What would I possibly respond to?
All I hear and see are people who are panicking and afraid of something that they clearly don't understand and have no interest in understanding but with that being said just the conversations and disagreements over critical race theory is a learning moment for me and it could and should be for so many Americans for numerous reasons.

This is a subversive method of undermining the supporting structures of the country. Of course nobody is going to step forward and spell out for him the goals and methods of a subversive movement. And he can’t grasp the fact that those who have latched onto CRT as purely an effort to push a true narrative of American history are unaware of the iceberg beneath the surface while they lend their support to the advancement of the part that’s visible above the surface.
Interesting POV.
Thank you for making the case for liberalism..
Malcom X explained Liberals political 🏈🏈strategy very well. This govt system needs to go, not maintained or salvaged. U.S. citizens are being oppressed across the board.
Give me examples of US citizens being oppressed "across the board."
Saying that liberals don't want revolution is a question begging statement because you're implying revolution is necessary when you haven't made the case for it.
Give me example of liberal control for narcissistic motives. Sounds to me like no one would take a backseat to you when it comes to espousing a "higher moral ground."
@canteluna, just curious about your thoughts on this ... Is any course of analysis or deconstruction of a theory, a practice or process, inherently Marxist? Confusing the conversation away from the core issue by getting bogged down arguing over academic jargon is what the host seems to be doing here. She just confronted Hill with simple evidence of what CRT looks like when applied in the real world. She just sighted a real world example of racism being practiced against White kids, through the curriculum by quoting directly out of the material being used, in public schools in the state of IL. That is not an isolated teacher, classroom or school, but a whole state! That is disturbing. She asks, is it appropriate to do that. Finally gets him to admit: no it is not appropriate.

People can have racial bias and not think they’re racist.
She didn’t say shit of relevance. Wtf were you watching 😂😂
She did an amazing job at speaking non-sense.
@@greatone275 because you yourself are black racist ?
She is terrified of societal change and the loss of white hegemony ....
“Reimagining society” is revolutionary.
Revolution requires overturning the political order, e.g. dismantling the governmental structure. Reimagining society is far more general, and could be something as simple as abolishing cash bail. Hardly revolutionary.
MLK..who I'm "PRETTY sure" SHE would ADVOCATE for😆😆😁..was called "a MARXIST"😩
And MLK openly praised Karl marx , but the right never mention that when talking about MLK
Conservatives happy to give a left handed compliment to the “I have a dream” MLK. They’d hate the MLK that advocated for jobs and the poor of the earth.
Same tactic different day.
Marc doesn't deny the Marxist roots of CRT but denies that the authors of CRT were calling for a marxist revolution.
kinda crazy how people are complex and typically not correct 100 percent of the time. Marxism is for pussies
She said Critical Theory was not a theory but a tactic in the '30s.
It was a theory. But theories can suggest tactical choices.
@@LordBackuro You're really reaching. Tying something you don't like to a soviet spy is just a tactic.
CRT is used to try to build a framework to describe the societal and psychological rails that make ordinary people into accidental or intentional agents of marginalizing and oppressing the same groups of people over and over again.

Critical thinking means not believing everything you hear, but examining it's validity. It can lead to a lot of things.
Critical thinking applied to tired, old American myths reveals why the oppression still keeps certain groups down while others move up by climbing on the backs of those oppressed.
@@LordBackuro
That's an interesting idea.
@@LordBackuro Tell me what you saw in one of the books.
Crt is just not a legitimate scholarship. Its just not.
I love science. Science is rigorous.
Critical race theoy certaintly isnt.
