+CaptAnderton What about most unusual/different sounding/unique but still good sounding rig for a certain price point. It seems like a lot of your challenges involve really going for a rock/metal or a blues/rock tone. It'd be cool to see where you guys'd go if you had to get something really different. Kinda the opposite of the 'inappropriate sounds' thing you were talking about.

+SIMON I have a 335 and you would be surprised how good it sounds through a metal amp, just gotta be careful with feedback if you're playing loud

+SIMON Alex Lifeson used ES-335's for decades. Now Rush isn't METAL but he played some pretty damn heavy stuff just the same. My ES-339 can burn pretty good through an Orange Terror head.
Chappers screwed Lee, he put him in the section where there were tons of super srat types with floating trems. Sneaky sneaky bastard that Chappers.
Lee did put chappers in the 335/ les paul section
I think he felt bad and that's why he put him with the fender amps.
Very entertaining although i don't think i'm going to walk into guitar stores blind from now on, mainly for health and safety reasons. Rob actually got really lucky with his rig, but his endtone didn't really float my boat. Differtent strokes for different folkes i guess ;)

About 21 mins in, I'm thinking: Rob's guitar sounds real Sabbath-y. Then I remember how 20 mins ago.. he ended up with an Iomi amp... hahaha. Guess they nailed it with that amp;-)
The sound that the captain gets at 28:42 sounds absolutely incredible. Les Paul Custom is definitely on my wish list!

The amp just sounded really bad for metal. Actually the amp just sounded bad period. Sounded very muffled.
It sounded good in their original review, I don't think those pickups had enough punch.

I looked away from the screen for a while at the end and I could have sworn it was Chappers soloing, but it was the Captain! You've become an incredible player, man! Gives me hope for my own skill progression.

I really liked that EVH. For $1000 that thing sounded sweet and you both seemed to like the way it played.
Next time you need to set the knobs on guitars, amps, and pedals with the blindfold on as well.

Laneys are solid state if memory serves. Scratch that apparently that amp is supposed to be all valves!
I went looking for a 'guitar for metal with a double locking tremolo. I looked at all the usual suspects like Ibanez, LTD and Schecter of which the shop had none. All they did have was a PRS SE Torero with EMGs and a Floyd Rose. Never even thought of that! So I tried it and didn't want to put it down again. I ended up buying the guitar and I love it to bits!
I have to visit your shop Captain! :) Only about an hour drive from here. :) Just dont think my wife will approve unless she is with me to keep me in check. :) hahaha... Awesome shop, would love to see a proper tour of it all on your youtube channel Lee. :)

I really liked the jam at the end! Just so bluesy juicy tones when the guitars were switched! And man those bends and double stops Lee played (starting at 28:46), they must be one of the guitar highlights of the year for me!

You guys are great. Really enjoy the videos. Keep 'em coming. Dorje should book a US west coast tour. Start in Seattle and move south, hitting Portland/Eugene, San Francisco, Santa Cruz (for the surf, of course :-D) and wind up in LA. Maybe a San Diego gig too. Throw in some outlying shows 'roud the various stops. Ping me for any SF/Oakland possibilities.
Rob and Capt seem to be able to read my wants and desires. Last time it was the Revstar then after watching 3 blindfold videos yesterday, today another is here.

I really wish I would have pursued something in music, but I got sidetracked and stuck with tech. Have a few friends that are constantly touring/recording, and I am so envious. Good on you both for doing what you love!
Learn trading. You work for an hour or two in the morning from home and then go do what you want all day.
I have thought about it because I have been pretty good at predicting what tech companies blow up. For whatever reason, I never did. Maybe this is a sign for me to learn.

Learn price action trading not fundamentals or news events ect...and develop a strategy, paper trade until you are consistently profitable then trade at max 2% risk only reducing risk as your account grows.

I got to say Mr. Captian, Andertons is one nice looking and impressively stocked music store! I wish I lived there so I could shop at your store. I could spend hours there. We have some decent music stores where I live in Canada but nothing as impressive as Andertons. Merry Christmas to both Rob & yourself.

No surprise from me regarding the EVH. It's not what people expect from a Van Halen guitar. The neck is narrow and thicker than you'd think, with a bare wood feel.
I have a Japanese Special (the one with stainless steel frets), and it's by far the best feeling guitar I own. I swapped out the pickups with less powerful ones. I've had it for 5 years, and it still puts a smile on my face when I pick it up.
That Wolfgang and Lanny sure sounded great together!
Much as I love the idea of Eddie sweating over a router day in and day out, Fender do make his guitars.

Totally unrelated but I received an ATOMIC Amplifire today due in no small part to you guys glowing review. All I can say is wow, just what I was hoping right out of the box, and Im running it right into, still messing around with using the return on back of amp, a cheap Marshall MG100 head. Ive been a user of BOSS ME and GT pedals for years but was never 100% pleased with the results, I believe this will make me 100% happy and without having to buy a Tube amp just to run it threw to get tone thats pleasing. Oh, I ordered it on Saturday and it arrived on Tuesday Morning during XMAS week, now thats great service.

I run an EvH Wolfgang Standard, through a Crybaby wah, a Boss OS-2 overdrive/distortion and a Boss DD-3 Digital Delay, and to a Fender 25R Frontman amp, using Jim Dunlop Jazz III picks, Fender California and ssnake cables, and guess what? Still sounds like crap on blues…

Surprisingly the EVH is the star of this in the hands of both the guys and the 4k les paul is underwhelming in both rigs, for me anyway.
Totally not surprising that the dog of the day was the Laney.
