+CaptAnderton thoroughly entertaining :) and i think it's actually an interesting thing to see what happens when you randomly pick a rig and find out how it all sounds! great watch, thanks!
+CaptAnderton What about most unusual/different sounding/unique but still good sounding rig for a certain price point. It seems like a lot of your challenges involve really going for a rock/metal or a blues/rock tone. It'd be cool to see where you guys'd go if you had to get something really different. Kinda the opposite of the 'inappropriate sounds' thing you were talking about.
+SIMON Alex Lifeson used ES-335's for decades. Now Rush isn't METAL but he played some pretty damn heavy stuff just the same. My ES-339 can burn pretty good through an Orange Terror head.
USA DUDES!!! I will be on the west coast with the Chapman Guitars Expedition Bus Tour at the following dates, no tickets required... just turn up and enjoy a Q&A, Jam, chat and shred from myself, Rabea Massaad & the Riff City Guitar crew! Jan 13th - The Crocodile, Seattle (4-8pm) Jan 14th - Star Theater Portland, Portland (4-8pm) Jan 16th - Brick & Mortar Music Hall, San Francisco (4-8pm) Jan 17th - Whisky A GoGo, Los Angeles (4-8pm)
+Rob Chapman I have a challenge for you! This morning, I was really bored and couldn't sleep (right now it's 2:40AM) and I had a pair of leather work gloves next to my desk... I think you know what I'm gonna say: Play a guitar with thick leather work gloves on!
Very entertaining although i don't think i'm going to walk into guitar stores blind from now on, mainly for health and safety reasons. Rob actually got really lucky with his rig, but his endtone didn't really float my boat. Differtent strokes for different folkes i guess ;)
I looked away from the screen for a while at the end and I could have sworn it was Chappers soloing, but it was the Captain! You've become an incredible player, man! Gives me hope for my own skill progression.
This is way better than any rerun on network TV. Hilarious and informative - I'm sort of sad I missed these for so many years - on the upside - I've got a hold catalog of great laughs to look forward to. Well done gentlemen.
About 21 mins in, I'm thinking: Rob's guitar sounds real Sabbath-y. Then I remember how 20 mins ago.. he ended up with an Iomi amp... hahaha. Guess they nailed it with that amp;-)
I really liked the jam at the end! Just so bluesy juicy tones when the guitars were switched! And man those bends and double stops Lee played (starting at 28:46), they must be one of the guitar highlights of the year for me!
Weekly segment of blind folded rig challenge? Do this every week and just get the best sounds you can get with your chosen rig. It would be awesome to see these random combos and just entertaining as hell!
Watching Chappers wander blindly with so many high end Gibby's at his feet had me holding my breath. You have an amazing store Captain! I'd love to be able to fly across the ocean just to visit Andertons! Merry Christmas fellas, thank you for all the great videos and entertainment you have made over the years. By far my favorite on RUclips.
super fun!! of all the trillions of content that's available via web, I seek you all - cuz you always make me laugh and bring joy to my life - keep it up, please
You both have the best jobs ever. I am watching this dreading going into work tomorrow to my boring IT job. I really wish I would have pursued something in music, but I got sidetracked and stuck with tech. Have a few friends that are constantly touring/recording, and I am so envious. Good on you both for doing what you love!
I have thought about it because I have been pretty good at predicting what tech companies blow up. For whatever reason, I never did. Maybe this is a sign for me to learn.
blackenedmartyr Learn price action trading not fundamentals or news events ect...and develop a strategy, paper trade until you are consistently profitable then trade at max 2% risk only reducing risk as your account grows.
+Kenton “GeekyLemur” Schroer It was the guitar. That gibson had a very bassy, creamy sound which makes distortion sound muddy as all hell. When Lee switch it to his rig it sounded how it was supposed to
+Ariel Lopez Maybe if Chappers tried to play some early Sabbath, heavy meets doom and stoner stuff, it'd be great for that. Definitely not for for what Rob normally plays.
Rob and Capt seem to be able to read my wants and desires. Last time it was the Revstar then after watching 3 blindfold videos yesterday, today another is here.
I went looking for a 'guitar for metal with a double locking tremolo. I looked at all the usual suspects like Ibanez, LTD and Schecter of which the shop had none. All they did have was a PRS SE Torero with EMGs and a Floyd Rose. Never even thought of that! So I tried it and didn't want to put it down again. I ended up buying the guitar and I love it to bits!
I run an EvH Wolfgang Standard, through a Crybaby wah, a Boss OS-2 overdrive/distortion and a Boss DD-3 Digital Delay, and to a Fender 25R Frontman amp, using Jim Dunlop Jazz III picks, Fender California and ssnake cables, and guess what? Still sounds like crap on blues…
+TheCollisionofworlds the Boss does not have true bypass, and this is what pisses me off. I want to buy a Metal Muff instead. And I want a tube amp, but they are expensive as hell…
Awwww Lee's often looking at Chappers like a brother on Xmas morning with tears in his eyes saying 'yours is better than mine...can I have a go on yours now?
When Lee was starting for the amp, I was like "please turn left and get an ashdown bass amp!!!" that would have been the best video EVER!!! (well at least the best since the miku-video :D)
I have to visit your shop Captain! :) Only about an hour drive from here. :) Just dont think my wife will approve unless she is with me to keep me in check. :) hahaha... Awesome shop, would love to see a proper tour of it all on your youtube channel Lee. :)
+Brendan Blazas Well the wife has been playing guitar for 23 years, myself right at a year. Not to mention my wife is a kick arse Yorkshire lass and I am a crazy ass American. I think we could take care of ourselves. hahaha...
Go one step further and be blindfolded the playing part too. Like "What knobs does the amp have? ... Okay, if you can lower the gain and treble..." etc. And it would be funny to see more pedals on that and those wow moments when you engage them! :D Great vids!
You guys are great. Really enjoy the videos. Keep 'em coming. Dorje should book a US west coast tour. Start in Seattle and move south, hitting Portland/Eugene, San Francisco, Santa Cruz (for the surf, of course :-D) and wind up in LA. Maybe a San Diego gig too. Throw in some outlying shows 'roud the various stops. Ping me for any SF/Oakland possibilities.
Just to clarify this video serves no useful purpose whatsoever, we just did it for a laugh!
top lads
+CaptAnderton And there's surely no better reason than that!
+CaptAnderton thoroughly entertaining :) and i think it's actually an interesting thing to see what happens when you randomly pick a rig and find out how it all sounds! great watch, thanks!
+CaptAnderton These are the best videos! Do more of them!!!!

Rob was so close to grabbing that Tubescreamer!
Yeah so close!
+Dirk Bogan The TightDrive is sort of a Tubescreamer
+Dirk Bogan tightdrive is way better imo
He still managed to snag an OD tho
so close but no cigar
a true bluesman smells his pedals
if only lee selected the ibanez 8 string!
+Tom Dickinson Yeah, or one of that nice Washburns ^^
If only Chappers chose that ES335
+Tom Dickinson Would have been hilarious
+Tom Dickinson He could've picked the VOX!!
+Tom Dickinson Yeah he was close to ESP 7 string too!
Is it just me or does is Captain's rig sound better at blues than Capper's does at metal lol. I don't really like the sound Chappers got
I'm with ya there
Charlie Taylor yes
Certainly doesn't sound like Sabbath!
Hvenet even seen the video yet but ive never liked chappers metal tone or any other tone.
I think it’s kind of a preference thing. I enjoyed them both a lot.
If Rob took that 335, the rest of the video would be hilarious
I was thinking the same thing lol
+SIMON I have a 335 and you would be surprised how good it sounds through a metal amp, just gotta be careful with feedback if you're playing loud
Or if Captain took Misha's Juggernaut model :D
+Abe Thedrummer I so agree with you !! I don't own one but this guitar is so versatile !! Form Dave Grohl to Oasis...
+SIMON Alex Lifeson used ES-335's for decades. Now Rush isn't METAL but he played some pretty damn heavy stuff just the same. My ES-339 can burn pretty good through an Orange Terror head.

My brother will be going to the Seattle date... Good luck in the states Chappers!! \m/ Wish I could go
Wish i could go! :( Im on the East side here in Detroit.
Wish i could go! :( Im on the East side here in Detroit.
+Rob Chapman Are you possibly coming down the 101 while otw to san francisco?
+Rob Chapman I have a challenge for you!
This morning, I was really bored and couldn't sleep (right now it's 2:40AM) and I had a pair of leather work gloves next to my desk... I think you know what I'm gonna say:
Play a guitar with thick leather work gloves on!
4:30 "I'm just gonna put this in my pocket." and thus it was never to be seen again...
I love this channel.. it is like "top gear meets guitars" , and surely one the best channel in music category in RUclips
My favorite couple on RUclips ❤️
That Charlie Browne was unbelievable on his Van Halen im seriously thinking of purchasing one myself thanks for the support!!
Yess, the challenges are back!
Very entertaining although i don't think i'm going to walk into guitar stores blind from now on, mainly for health and safety reasons. Rob actually got really lucky with his rig, but his endtone didn't really float my boat. Differtent strokes for different folkes i guess ;)
Chappers screwed Lee, he put him in the section where there were tons of super srat types with floating trems. Sneaky sneaky bastard that Chappers.
Lee did put chappers in the 335/ les paul section
I think he felt bad and that's why he put him with the fender amps.
The sound that the captain gets at 28:42 sounds absolutely incredible. Les Paul Custom is definitely on my wish list!
Damn that last jam was a thing of beauty. I instantly rewound and played it again. And Lee, you won that challenge hands down.
Next time why don t you choose each other's rig and then challenge yourself to find a good blues/metal tone out of it? that should be fun
+mmaker83 yeah but pick the worst stuff for that genre/style so it is a real challenge
+Dan 2c plus of course...that's where the fun is!!!!
This is a great idea!!
+mmaker83 this needs to be done
Absolutely!!! Who gets the best blues tone from a BC Rich Warlock/Gunslinger running through the most basic of line 6 amps on the floor.
Now imagine Rob picking that Vox. It would be the best sound demo ever.
That was a clever and very nice way to promote your business.
Bravo e paraculo :)
i would be very scared to let someone walk around a music shop that has stuff worth hundreds and thousands with a blindfold
I looked away from the screen for a while at the end and I could have sworn it was Chappers soloing, but it was the Captain! You've become an incredible player, man! Gives me hope for my own skill progression.
Six years later (Can't believe it's been six years since this video, I'm turning into an old man here), how has your guitar playing progress been?
This is way better than any rerun on network TV. Hilarious and informative - I'm sort of sad I missed these for so many years - on the upside - I've got a hold catalog of great laughs to look forward to.
Well done gentlemen.
+CaptAnderton has gotten so good with the soloing. Big jump in overall playing. Really great to see and hear.
Do that challenge again.
Eintrachtminecrafter Christmas is coming and I want this video again
I really liked that EVH. For $1000 that thing sounded sweet and you both seemed to like the way it played.
Oh my god, that was some sweet ass Captain solo at the end there....
What did we learn children? Any guitar is suitable for blues if you can play them and don't buy a Laney Iommi amp.
Those jams keep getting better and better!
About 21 mins in, I'm thinking: Rob's guitar sounds real Sabbath-y. Then I remember how 20 mins ago.. he ended up with an Iomi amp... hahaha. Guess they nailed it with that amp;-)
lol Rob's amp sounds like the solid state in this one
I really liked the jam at the end! Just so bluesy juicy tones when the guitars were switched! And man those bends and double stops Lee played (starting at 28:46), they must be one of the guitar highlights of the year for me!
Weekly segment of blind folded rig challenge? Do this every week and just get the best sounds you can get with your chosen rig. It would be awesome to see these random combos and just entertaining as hell!
Capt. There is a very special purpose when it comes to tone!
Wow! I really enjoyed that jam at the end. Felt more soulful than usual.
Best tone of the video: That Paul into The Captain's rig! Also YES do both of those other video ideas you mentioned.
Lee... you've come a long way as a guitarist. I love your style.
CHAPPERS WAS SO CLOSE TO THE TUBE SCREAMER
this is the kind of video I miss from these guys
I've owned a musicman axis for 15 years - best sound ever for me.
Great jam at end as always.
Super good times, guys. Really good idea and a fun time. Rock on.
super fun!! of all the trillions of content that's available via web, I seek you all - cuz you always make me laugh and bring joy to my life - keep it up, please
Anyone miss these mad fun videos
This is like the older goofy Rob and the Captn....LOVED IT!!
Really love these store / rig videos. Glad you did another and hope you keep more coming.
Please do more rig/ challenge videos pleaseeee. Theyre always so entertaining to watch!
It's the Blues rig for me. Big win for the Captain!
You both have the best jobs ever. I am watching this dreading going into work tomorrow to my boring IT job. I really wish I would have pursued something in music, but I got sidetracked and stuck with tech. Have a few friends that are constantly touring/recording, and I am so envious. Learn trading. You work for an hour or two in the morning from home and then go do what you want all day.

You guys are the best. I look forward to seeing both of your ideas for future pointless videos!
Been loving these videos today on Christmas day 2019. Actually been binging ALL day long 🎸🎅🎄
These blindfold challenges are always awesome
This is pretty much Top Gear for guitarists. LOVE IT!!!
Captain wins. Metal tone wasn't quite there.
The amp just sounded really bad for metal. Actually the amp just sounded bad period. Sounded very muffled.
It sounded good in their original review, I don't think those pickups had enough punch.
+0M0rty had I been blindfolded I would've probably done way worst. lol
Next time you need to set the knobs on guitars, amps, and pedals with the blindfold on as well.
That was an amazing jam at the end. Thank You!
Rob and Capt seem to be able to read my wants and desires. Last time it was the Revstar then after watching 3 blindfold videos yesterday, today another is here.
I fucking love these types of videos, keep up the great work!
That Wolfgang and Lanny sure sounded great together!

+Metallica Fan Maybe you just need to work on your blues.
+ShoreyJr yes, maybe. But the fact is, that it still sounds like crap.
+Metallica Fan Get rid of that frontman and get a nice small tube amp and maybe a good distortion pedal, your'e amp is holding you back
+TheCollisionofworlds the Boss does not have true bypass, and this is what pisses me off. I want to buy a Metal Muff instead. And I want a tube amp, but they are expensive as hell…
+TheCollisionofworlds ok, thanks. I am not someone, who knows alot about gear, you know.
Wow, Captain's tone is suprisingly good for being so realtively low-priced, I'm really astonished by that little Fender.
Awwww Lee's often looking at Chappers like a brother on Xmas morning with tears in his eyes saying 'yours is better than mine...can I have a go on yours now?
Really enjoyed watching that. Thanks guys and Happy Christmas :)
these dudes absolutely hit the pub before these shoots. very entertaining.
Oh man, made me clinch so hard seeing Rob stumbling around near the wall of Paul.
love the jam sessions you two get into in these vids. can't wait for the next one =D
That was really great, guys! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!
Rob and lee you should do another one of these challenges
Do more stuff like this please! They're the most fun to watch
When Lee was starting for the amp, I was like "please turn left and get an ashdown bass amp!!!" that would have been the best video EVER!!! (well at least the best since the miku-video :D)
One of your best guys! Happy Christmas 😀🎸🎸
I love these video so much they lighten up my day I hope to visit your actual shop at some point
I just love these challenges keep up good work
Awesome video guys. Merry Christmas to you both and to your families. Peace
great video, amazing jam at the end. merry Christmas!
These are my favorite kind of vids you guys do
I have to visit your shop Captain! :) Only about an hour drive from here. :) Just dont think my wife will approve unless she is with me to keep me in check. :) hahaha... Awesome shop, would love to see a proper tour of it all on your youtube channel Lee. :)
Definatly don't bring your wife. Any girl that walks into becomes the Captians girl
+Brendan Blazas Well the wife has been playing guitar for 23 years, myself right at a year. Not to mention my wife is a kick arse Yorkshire lass and I am a crazy ass American. I think we could take care of ourselves. hahaha...
+David D. Stanton dude, go. it's awesome :D
+Cameron Forster will try to work out a visit.
Lee, mate, your playing sound wicked on the Gibson
Lee, that solo at the end on the les paul was fucking great!!!
I would have LOVED it if Lee were stuck with a 7 or 8 string :D
so so so happy the challenges are back!!!! hurah
Great video as usual. You allready convinced me a year ago I needed i JTM145 which is a truly great amp. Now I realized I also need a Charlie Brown.
loved this video, great to see you doing more challenges🎸
Captain's really cooking it at the end.
Go one step further and be blindfolded the playing part too. Like "What knobs does the amp have? ... Okay, if you can lower the gain and treble..." etc. And it would be funny to see more pedals on that and those wow moments when you engage them! :D Great vids!
I miss these kinds of videos..... *becomes nostalgic*
I love when they make videos like these
It's that time of year again!
Wow, that Fender amp made that Les Paul sound so much better, it was like night & day
For real classic metal rob nailed it
Like, you could nail the sword with that
IT DOOMS
Totally useless, but utterly hysterical to watch! Thanks guys and happy holidays!
4:37 when Rob gets his finger stuck is just hilarious every time
love these challenge videos!
This feels like it was uploaded last week not a year ago...
Y'all ought to do this more often!
Enjoyed the trip around the shop
You guys are great. Really enjoy the videos. Keep 'em coming. Dorje should book a US west coast tour. Start in Seattle and move south, hitting Portland/Eugene, San Francisco, Santa Cruz (for the surf, of course :-D) and wind up in LA. Maybe a San Diego gig too. Throw in some outlying shows 'roud the various stops. Ping me for any SF/Oakland possibilities.
I was hoping that one of you would pick up a miku pedal
lmao when lee almost grabbed a 7 string for blues...
That Les Paul Custom is the stuff dreams are made of, holy shit.
