I hope you all enjoyed the show. For me this was one of my favorite videos to edit, I smiled my way through most of it. I can’t thank all the competitors enough for joining in on this, nothing short of amazingly done by all of them.
Also want to give a shout-out to Cordelia, Marie and Verena for helping out with the entire process, their the best team I could’ve asked for with this!
Lastly a big thank you to element for hosting the walls as well as Rúngne for the price sum is in order.
PS. Make sure you use my code “EMIL” for 15% Off at the Rúngne checkout so we can do more of these 👀
Amazing and fun to watch! They all did really well, congrats to them, I'm not sure I would have been as good my first time climbing!
You should come to Florida and try out where I climb, it’s the first building ever constructed for the purpose of rock climbing (in the world), all other gyms were retrofitted into existing buildings. It’s pretty small, but very cool. (Tried to comment on Magnus’ channel too but the mods took it down lol)
Superbrilliant vid Emil. Very entertaining.
Auf gehts! 🤣
Enjoyed this a lot of the climbing videos get to feel very samey but this was different. Got Me watching till the end!
Plot twist: Yannis is Magnus' best disguise so far.
Hahahaha! That got me chuckling.
Beat me to it. 😂
Hello-my name is Yannis
hahaha
hahahah best comment ever
Thank you so much for having me, I had such a great time! ...and I still can feel the soreness in my forearms the next day, but I will definitly continue to climb higher :D
You were pretty damn impressive for your first time.. so I’d absolutely keep it up!
first time i climbed i felt the forearms for a week :D well done with the climbing and a sweet song too!
@@cillian6460 Thank you! I definitly will, it's an amazing sport :)
You fit this vid by Emil perfectly! What a song as well!
Hope youll climb more in the future
This song was actually a banger - didn’t expect that in the middle of a climbing video!
Emil calling out the IFSC for not paying podiuming athletes enough is fire.
I struggle to blame the IFSC, there just isn't a lot of money in such a small sport
@@Ben-ew3hv it aint small it just has very little tv rights
@@sekfnsdkfnfnwoiqdx true. which is stupid imo. Climbing competitors should earn closer, similar or even more than the "American" version of football athletes!
@@Ben-ew3hv I just looked up the numbers for 2023. Administration cost: 1.7 M €, of which salaries were at 1.1M. Sports and Event costs: 0.7 M €. There was no "price money" listed as expenses. But what is listed are membership fees (126k), Athlete license fees (110k) and registration fees (360k). That comes close to the event costs, so basically the athletes pay their events and prize money themselves. The IFSC is definitely not doing anything to actually pay the athletes for their work in the business. Which is admittedly still a rather small one with just over 5 M € turnover of the IFSC...
It would need another system to get more money into this. Not having national teams but commercial teams would be a first step. Team Red bull, Team Rugne, Team Lattice or whatever, like it's done in cycling or other sports. I don't care about the nationality a good athlete and nice person is, I cheer them for different reasons. Nationalism is diametral to most of the things that make our sport great. And so is it's relics in sports, the national teams.
Thanks for having me! Will try to improve my fitness by taking up bouldering
Everyone did brilliant! I couldn't even do a pullup when I first started so you guys all surpassed me by far
that honestly warms my heart ❤ you did so well and I absolutely loved your energy
For a first time climber, you were so impressive! You have a smooth style!
this comment make this video even beter. this is for sure one of my favorite video of this channel . Its so interesting to see ppls discover something that you like.
good job to all participants :)
Great job on the competition!
My guy asking "what's a boulder" and then explaining how the hand jam felt natural to him, get this dude over to Wideboyz pronto.
Pete will get him in the cellar and in a double fist stack in no time!
Magnus is getting better as his disguises
It was so much fun to compete (even if I didnt expect to climb that day) and everyone was incredibly nice, thank you!
and thank you SO much for joining
Loved your stoke and tenacity! You have such good energy!
I think you kept a nice balance when climbing and had a natural flow to it. Good job! 💪
Thank you! It was a lot of fun, sara talked me into it like 3 hours before it began 😂
please continue climbing. you look so natural when you were climbing these problems that i didn't believe this was your first time climbing!!
"What is a boulder?" After entering a comp, this is top level insanity. Wonderful!
*after winning a comp
after entering and winning! xD amazing dude
And then "did you like them?", "yes.. I mean no"
I hope someone told Berry that she's a natural climber! The way she moves and feels out the positions instinctively, she'd progress really quickly if she started climbing regularly.
My dude literally said no at first, then got talked into it and freaking won the whole thing. What an absolute legend! You love to see it.
Huge props to the setters, the problems looked fun and interesting yet firsttimers were able to do them. I feel like in my gym the easy problems are usually basically just ladders, while the harder ones get all the interesting movements.
Excellent point and agreed!
This is the best point I think, it's impressive to set boulders for absolute beginners that are more than ladders and they were all fun boulders to watch.
V0 and V1 at my gym are basically ladders but V2 and V3 can get interesting sometimes. I feel like the boulders in this video might be on that V2 or low V3 range so it makes sense right?
@@maxfern5701 Unlikely. the v scale starts at V0, which is fb 5c. Most beginner 'ladder style' boulder problems dont even register at the V scale.
@@peterkapunkt6783 the V scale starts at VB witch is 3. V0 is 4, 5c would be in V2.
Emil: professional boulderer, beginner at awkward street conversations.
Hahaha, so true
Jannis is a natural born climber! Not only does he find the hand jam at 16:18 but he also instinctively does a heel hook at 26:55 to secure the win. Congratz to him and I hope he had enough fun to come back to boulder some more!
Thanks! Yes I did. Only once so far, for summer got me turned on for a lot of beach volleyball, but I'll be back on the rocks for sure :)
The crowd went silent with shock when he figured it out!
What a move and what a crowd too!
@@DeanoDrives I did not expect he would come that far on overhang, every time i was like nooo waaay he held on to the next hold?! Pretty sick
Surely it’s not your first time right?! Having the finger strength for the overhang and finding that heel hook is insane for a complete beginner. I can tell you are going to progress really far💪
I literally yelled HEEL HOOK?! while watching him, thankfully I was at home. 😂
They’ve earned more money than 99% of climbers worldwide. Epic and tragic at the same time!
Most under-rated comment by a mile. Hilariously tragic for sure
Let’s hear it for Sarah. Totally outclassed on a physical level but all smiles and effort the whole way ! I have several friends that don’t fit the “norm” for climbers body that have agreed to come try after seeing her climb. #teamsarah
something in her reminds me of Chloe Caulier
Big climbers unite!!! I love seeing it because Im fat AF and love climbing.
Going and trying something totally new and scary while under the eyes of a crowd of strangers is crazy impressive. Hopefully she gets invested into climbing because its clear theres natural mental fortitude there
i‘ve seen so many “bigger” climbers surprise me on the wall, I‘m sure your friends will have fun ^^
She had a good drive-and professional sporty attitude. I hope she s continuing!! Mindset is a lot in sports!
I LOVED this video!
Sarah never gave up, Berry pushed past that reachy first move on B3, Jana with the buzzer beater, Anthony performing well despite nerves and Yannis crushing it! I love that Yannis made a song and visualized himself winning. He was definitely motivated to earn double(!) what he earns in a month just for having fun & trying hard.
Thanks to Emil and to Magnus/Rugne for helping all of these climbing creators make the videos we all enjoy :)
WOW this video is sooo good! We are so incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to host this special competition with you! Watching this video gave us goosebumps-the atmosphere was absolutely electric, and the competitors gave it their all!! We couldn't have wished for anything more. Thank you so much, Emil and Cordi! We hope it won't be too long before we see you again at one of the Element gyms.
That dude bringing in his guitar is epic, bravo
dude just went home got mega hyped and made a song in one evening what a legend
@@korok2619 thanks mate, that describes pretty well what happened :D
yeah was fkin amazing !
And the song was actually good!
@@yanniskraemermusic3991 Great song!
It looks like it’s all fun and games but this video is essentially one of the best promotional pieces for the sport out there.
EVERYBODY starts just like this.
The whole room was buzzing with excitement. It definitely helped the contestants persevere through camaraderie.
Love to see it!
Mad respect for the beginners climbing in front of a crowd and the camera! I can't believe how natural the top 2 contestants look despite the malicious overhang. Such a supportive crowd, especially the woman shouting "Fußwechsel!!!" 😂
OMG Jannes our boy actually wrote a full song, that's so impressive, and it was good, too!!
Thank you :D I just couldn't resist...
Haha, I love it! Sorry for butchering your name lol. And enjoy your holiday!
9:48 Liked for the song, had no business being that smooth lyrically
I was part of the crowd cheering and it was so fun to watch the competition. All five of them did so incredibly well!
Looking forward to finally be able to go climbing at Elements Cologne next week :)
This made me emotional. I was so depressed when I started climbing and it helped me so much. You have no idea how you might have changed some of these people's lives.
- What did you think of the boulders ?
- What are the boulders ?
Haha legend
I really want a professional to quote that. Can you imagine like Toby Roberts or Jakob Schubert winning a boulder comp and hitting the interviewer with "what are boulders?"?
It was so fun hosting you ❤🎉thanks for your terrific video 🥰
The gym looks great!
This was complete different type of video and I loved it. Love you Emil abrahamsson ❤
❤
Hahahaha
That is so German. Going from a "no" to "YEAH I'M IN, I AM ALSO MAKING YOUR TITLE SONG!"
That's lovely
I wish gyms set like this for beginners. Not only would it be more fun but I think better and more technical climbers would emerge
They looked amazing, but also expensive to set. So many volumes, and they take up the entire wall. But yeah great setting.
@@chaozzah I don't understand why gyms don't make their own wooden volumes. Would be so much cheaper.
@@chaozzah I am not really talking about the looks but more about the interesting movement
@@matejnovosad9152 my gym did that!
That's something I really love about my gym. They set interesting boulders at easier grades, which is also great for when I'm injured 😆
Love how it was treated all the way as a proper competition, both in organisation with isolation and everything, and by the crowd cheering the climbers on with every move.
Great idea and all of them did way better than I expected when I saw the boulders.
Opening boulders for total beginner and finding the balance between too easy and too hard is a big challenge. Well done for the creativity and effort of your team. It was truly an amazing experience to watch
Yanis is a natural! He had great intuition on that last boulder
The heel hook had me very impressed..
I haven't happy smiled during a video this much in a million videos. This was so good from the competitors, to the audience and Emil, Rugne and Element, and the video production of it all. I love the climbing community, and it looks like we just got five more awesome climbers!
Fantastic video. Emil you‘re becoming a real fave! Also the ad part is simply true, Magnus has done great things for the sport with his success
i always love how supportive the climbing community usually is. everyone is so respectful and helpful
The song was awesome.
But the most impressive aspect was how good people can be when they're really motivated. I have helped lots of beginners but never seen that much successful first-timers.
Congrats to everyone and Emil!
"what do you think of the boulders?"
"what are the boulders"
the hyena shriek laugh i let out oh my god
the colors in that gym are sooooo pretty. they are very underused tbh
The video was recorded before the opening of the gym, so all holds were indeed only used by the setters. But, in element gyms, also the walls are cleaned on a regular basis (every second reset I think), so it will stay a lot cleaner than most gyms look like after a few months.
Thanks for having me! Will try to improve my fitness by taking up bouldering
Best climbing video I've ever seen on RUclips. So wholesome.
"What are the boulders?"
Epic
8:46 that song was FIRE 🔥
Came to say the same thing i love climbing an all but can we pause an appreciate this dudes music?😂holy hell
These people are so good for their first time, everyone did great! Also, very impressive how you set boulders that totally have the _look_ of comp-style boulders while being completely accessible to total beginners.
This was fun! And wow, shout out to the spectator crowd for their energy!
9:18 this is amazing 😂
I love this video! Just shows how warm and welcoming the climbing community is! Amazing job to all of the competitors! Sarah was especially my favorite. She's just here to have fun, and i love it!
You guys are so wholesome it makes my heart burst, love how they cheered each other!
What a great video Emil! I hope thousands of non-climber get to see this and give our amazing sport a go. You, Magnus and the entire youtube climbing community are fantastic ambassadors for our sport. We are so lucky to have you.
So wholesome and fun! This was a great idea! I hope the winner enjoyed his holiday and that everyone stuck with the sport and made it back to the gym!
The entertainment value of this was similar to an IFSC comp, Impressing performance from all competitors! Rugne too for such a generous prize pool!
This is a very enjoyable video. We need more like it. If more people signed up for the competition, it would be better to split men and women into separate groups to make it fair. I can imagine the stress they went through, looking awkward on the walls in front of a crowd. But they all held well and fought for the victory. And Sarah didn't give up even knowing there were no chances left for her to win any places. Huge respect!
This is so lovely! I was a scaredy cat when I first climbed, and to have the courage to not only boulder but also doing it in front of a crowd. Kudos to everyone!!
Emil, this was incredible to watch and so happy that you decided to do this. Also love seeing you get out of your comfort zone on the streets looking for climbers.
It’s so great to watch these new climbers start their journey. Makes one think about doing just a little bit more everyday to ensure those new climbers around you are having a great time. No top out should go unnoticed!
Thank you so much for having me, I had such a great time! ...and I still can feel the soreness in my forearms the next day, but I will definitly continue to climb higher :D
It was so much fun watching you all climb and have fun in the competition, you did great!
Truly epic. Thanks Emil and Rungne for making this happen!
My heart was warm throughout all the climbs. The community is so wholesome! Last time I went to boulder I tipped a beginner climber how to do a heel hook in order to stabilize for the final slight lean-in top hold that couldn't be held on to while standing on a foot chip. He didn't understand a heel hook at first, but tried it and nailed it! Looked back at me in pride that he made it that time and I cheered in return
You see Emil come up to you on the street." Have you ever climbed before" "nope". That climber who win the comp, probably 😅😅
and big ups to all participant! like a beginner climber myself who started 3 months ago, thats a really difficult thing to manage with the pressure and out of your comfort zone
Ive been so excited for this video!!! Turned out amazing!
This was a very exciting video and I could not help but smile as I saw the new climbers push through the routes with the encouragement of the crowd.
Incredibly wholesome.
This was an amazing video. And absolutley loved it when you called out the ifsc. Keep up the great work man.
And to everyone competing. You guys did amazing!
Be on top -- what a banger. He was so ready hah
this video deserves alot more views, one of my favorite videos on your channel
Got real happy watching this and will most def buy something from Rungne to support the cause. More of these videos! Would be amazing if you followed up with some of the climbers after 6 month to see their progression if they kept on climbing.
Great concept!! And shows how supportive the climbing community is no matter the level of climbing!
As an introvert myself, finding the competitors was the hardest route in this video.
I have to applaud all the competitors that you secured first of all, what an enjoyable performance from them all start to finish. This production has been an amazing way to introduce more people to the community with the support of all the individuals in the audience as well as you and the team behind the scenes. A great idea with great sponsorship and a great production quality as well. Speaking of the quality, major improvements recently to you and all involved with the filming and channel as a whole. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this and everything else recently.
I would love to see a follow-up with the competitors in the future, maybe after their 6 month memberships and host a rematch competition to see how they've improved.
Again a fantastic video. I was smiling all the way through. Thanks to all involved and for their contribution to this great community that we all have grown to enjoy.
This was such an incredible video, I found myself clapping and cheering along with the crowd. Huge props to all the beginners for stepping out of their comfort zone for this
Man i couldn't help but smile for the entire duration of the actual competition. I just absolutely adore the 100% positive energy ever single climber got for their performance. They're all DEFINITELY going to try more bouldering in the future now, haha! It's just amazing to see how the climbing scene is evolving and how Rungne is super supportive in helping creators do cool things and push the sport forward.
I don't climb but have gotten into watching various climbing youtube channels the past year. This is truly inspiring. Congrats to all the competitors!
Very fun and entertaining video, brillant idea. And again the introverted side of Emil, as on the Catalyst Megadyno Video. I can relate to that very well and appreciate it so much to see that side of people being kind of in the flashlights. ❤
And to Sarah, Berry, Jana, Anthony and Yannis the bard, that was truely impressive seeing y'all diving into the sport that quickly and deeply. Very fun und nice to watch 🎉❤.
It's been a long while since I enjoyed a youtube video this much. Climbing has become such a fun part of my life since beginning in May, and seeing people go through that first day as well - in THIS format - is awesome.
The guy that wasn't even going to compete ends up winning, just awesome.
Would be cool to hear if any of them plan to continue climbing after this. Good video.
I believe atleast 4/5 (maybe all 5) have gone back!
I did and I will :)
@@EmilAbrahamsson Nice! Keep it up and eventually there will be no more beginners left :D
@@yanniskraemermusic3991Good job Yannis! Greetings from Texas USA.
This is the most wholesome climbing video ever!! Really well done to all the competitors - all such great sports and performed really really well! Thanks for the unique, fun and lighthearted content Emil!
Absolutely fantastic! I love the energy the crowd provided, and the climbers did so good! Great video ❤️
This video was amazing, from the great editing to the wholesome competition vibe. Definately deserves more recognition!!
Wow what an amazing event! All of the competitors did much better than I would have anticipated. Thanks for the great video Emil!
Thanks
I had a smile on my face the whole time watching this, brilliant idea for a comp. It was so much fun to watch! Great job to everyone who was involved!!
So this dudes 5th move ever was a NATURAL hand jam??? Mad lad!
This was so fun!! I had a smile across my face the whole time.
the climbing community is so wholesome, i love it so much!!!
Ear-to-ear smile throughout the whole video. What a cool concept with such an amazing and wholesome execution! And here I thought I couldn’t love the climbing community any more. Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻
Emil your last videos, each one of them is joyful. As a starter myself, they are also inspirational. Please keep on going.
Such a cool video idea and well done too! Jannis is a natural with that heel hook at the end
This was so much fun to watch! I love how they say "I'm a bit exhausted!" - said every climber ever!
This was as impressive asf, they're beginners and look like they have at least 1 week of experience. Well done Emil with the video and the class
This was wholesome, fun and awesome to watch - maybe it could be a series? Would absolutely love that!
More of this. I can only watch so many V99 level rock climbing gods.
Such an amazing video Emil! Love the editing! Keep up the great work, can't wait for more videos from you and your team!
So exciting to watch!! From the first competitor on the first problem I was hooked! Please be the first of a new series!!
Emil please come to Scotland! I'd love a coaching session !! (from an experienced yogi who took up bouldering few months ago).
Great video x
great idea, huge props to everyone who competed and just bought some Rúngne chalk!!
And Yannis almost said no to joining the competition...
I love the idea of putting noobies in the spotlight! Climbing is for everyone, and hopefully it gets them hooked!
Awesome idea man, that might be my favorite video of yours somehow! Congratz to everyone that did the competition they all climbed really well! The Yannis song was also amazing.
On a sidenote, the setting was really cool. I wish we would have more of this kind of easy boulders, it's a great way to engage beginners and teach them about movement.
Asking a German to do something spontaneous that they don’t have an expertise on, it’s quite an advanced challenge 😂
Absolutely fantastic wholesome video,
Loved it! I hope they are all hooked.
Thanks Emil!
That was so wholesome to watch 😊
