    Kiitos videosta! Tilaan tuon työkalun ja mittaan N47D20C koneen tilanteen. Kilsoja on 344tkm ja merkintöjä ketjun vaihdosta ei ole, joten vähän jännittää :D

    Hi Jani.
    I just wanted to say thanks very much for putting together your series on N13 maintenance.
    You're a talented, thorough mechanic and videos are brilliantly put together.
    I've been thinking of selling my 2015 116i, but actually I will be able to keep it and do a lot of the work myself because of you.
    Thanks so much.

    with some subtitles in Spanish and a translation option for the questions and answers would be the best of the channel.

    Great video. My N13 was making a worrying noise and I followed your advise, bought the special tool and a new tensioner. I did the test. In my case the protrusion starts flush and turning the engine, moves a little bit to the inside and like 1mm to the outside, which is good news, isn't it? Don't know how much should it come out.
    My tensioner was in good condition, or at least it didn't fall apart when removing it. Put a new one in and engine runs as it was running, making the same noise. I will sleep better today, even though not entirely sure as the noise hasn't improved...

      Thanks!
      You determine the minimum dimension with this special tool.
      If the flush distance is detected on a special tool (measuring pin), you should already consider changing the timing chain
      I also tested that special tool after replacing the timing chain, and now in the latest video (valve stem seals replacement); so you can get a little indication of how the tool behaves.

      @@JaniVoutilainen I had a look at the product description in the website and yes, it has to come out permanently, not intermittently. I have to replace the chain.

    Hi Jani, appreciate your videos. Can i lease ur bmw f20 tensioner chain checking tool by some arrangement? A bit of a waste for diy when it will be used probably only once. In Switzerland.

    Thanx for the wonderful videos…I have n13 with 110.000km and I change oil every 7.000km with amsoil 5w40euro…Should i just replace tensioner or not? engine is very clean inside I had to chnage the oil pressure sensor in the oil sump and mechanic told me everything was super clean…Do I need to lubricate the tensioner before installing? Thx !

    Hi i have a 116i and dont have chain problems yet but i am considering replacing my tensioner but is this even possible whitout retiming it?

  • @flexo7267
    @flexo7267 3 года назад

    Hey, What was the reason for changing the tensioner? Ratteling noise at Engine Start? Second question, are you shure, that it is the Right Tool for your Engine? If so the messuring pin Looks permanently in so the chain should br replaced. Die the same with my Engine n43. So Pin has to be permanently outside zehn Chain is ok.

    • @JaniVoutilainen
      @JaniVoutilainen  3 года назад +2

      I wanted to check the condition of the chain so that there would be no problems in the future like with the N43 engine. Surprisingly, that broken chain tensioner was found.
      I personally think about the suitability of that special tool because it is a little shorter than the actual chain tensioner, but according to the data it is also intended for the N13 engine.
      Anyway, I'm going to change the timing chain anyway. I just wanted to show the elongation before the renovation 👍

    Hola, te felicito por tus videos, me son de gran ayuda. ¿Estás seguro que el par de apriete del tensor son 80Nm ?, te lo pregunto porque en otros videos pone que son 65Nm

      @JaniVoutilainen  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! 👍
      The tensioner torque is 80Nm for engine N13 and 65Nm for engine N43. This has been revised from ISTA-D

      @JaniVoutilainen  3 года назад +2

      Don't worry, I haven't sold! The E91 with N43 series will continue 😊. It is not worth going to sell it after a relatively large amount of effort has been put into it. 😉
      For example, the Nox system still needs attention ...
      First, other vehicles must be serviced 👍

    Did you had any chain rattle? Thx

    • @JaniVoutilainen
      @JaniVoutilainen  3 года назад +1

      There hasn’t been any extra rattle for at least half a year. At least I haven't noticed.
      About a year ago, gently accelerating at 2000-3000 rpm, the engine sounded a momentary and very random rattle but I never localized where it came from. That sound has not been heard for a long time.
      Currently, there are only occasional misfires, usually at idle, such as fluctuations in idle cycles that may be related to a broken intake pipe or a dirty MAF sensor ...
