I ended up buying a air hose line from Harbor Freight and using small zip ties to connect the TD cable to it. I inserted 1/4 in shank eye screws into both ends of the air hose and also connected those with small carabiners. Thanks again for the great video.
*I bought this model for my 14 ft Jon boat. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend love it!!! It pushes my boat with ease ( 2 men 220 each). I would highly recommend this to anyone.*
Thanks for your video. I was ready to remove the lift assist off my terrova and run my transducer down the slot in the shaft. I did a very close version of your idea and it works well.
Good idea! As an alternative to the zip ties, you might cut some 1-inch pieces of shrink wrap tubing and put it every six inches or so along the length of the cable.
This set up worked perfect thanks for the idea! And yes he had the transducer cord on the wrong side, if u put the cord over the head of the trolling motor and zip tie u are set! 6 ft cable works well! Amazon has some cables
Garmin won’t warranty the cables if you have to send it off to be fixed and they see zip ties marks on the transducer cable I found that out the hard way. I don’t know about Hummingbird. I used your system to mount live scope on my Ulterra. I have already spent nearly $5,000 on the trolling motor and a 106sv and I’m not spending $400 more just so I don’t cut the cable. Thanks for sharing.
I have what may be a dumb question, but how is that eyebolt secured to the housing? That hole is the access for the screws holding the side plate correct? I am not that mechanical, but other than that question this looks like an excellent solution. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. I really like your solution. I see a couple mods I'll make for my install, but your solution will be the basis for mine. I have viewed quiet a few different install solutions and none of them look as good as this one.
Looks like it would work well for open water. I was just be worried about getting it hung on something (tree) underwater and rip my transducer or finder off the boat.
Dude, that looks like right idea to me. I own a Power Drive, but still have the same issues when it's deployed or stowed. I think the Eye Bolt is an improvement over my idea of using self sticking round coax cable clips on the bow (mounted near the base of the TM). Did you secure the cable at the base of the shaft? The bicycle lock cable use is interesting as well. It almost mirrors the electric steer power cable on the Power Drive.
Thank you for sharing. Are you still happy with the set up? Is there a picture of the move you made with the Eyebolt? Any other suggestions?? Thank you.
Looks like you could have a cable pinch problem when the unit is stowed. Maybe move the 'ducer cable to the other side of the motor, on top when stored. Otherwise, a very interesting solution.
Thanks for the ideas. I just had a Terrova with lift assist installed and bought a new Lowrance Elite 7 Ti. I wanted to use my older Lowrance Elite 5 DSI on the Terrova and while most people are wanting side scan I only cared about downscan but did not want to buy a hummingbird. Unfortunately the DSI has power and transducer cable connected together so I cannot run cable through an air hose or the hose that comes with the precision works product ($130). Your solution is perfect for me. The only question I have is how you mounted the eyebolt. Did it replace the screw that I see in my Terrova mount?
I just did this same thing with my terrova and yes I just replaced the cover bolt with an eye bolt 1/4 I believe. Just put a nylon jam nut on the eye bolt the same length as the threads on the original bolt. I haven't taken it out on the water to test it but it looks good.
I'm trying to get my dad set up with a hummingbird helix 7 and a Minn kota Ulterra on his tritoon and need some help. Why would you want to mount the helix transducer to the trolling motor? Do you use a separate transducer on the stern for your other helix at the console? With the trolling motor transducer, would that always be turning your image based on which way the trolling motor is pointing? I hope someone can help me clear this up. Thanks
Sure would like to know more about the change your made with the cable mounting point. I'd like to do this to mine, but the change you made would be very helpful to know. Could you post another video or photo? Thanks
Rojamon...I am using a helix 5 on the integral 2d with an external helix 7 si transducer mounted like this. They both work as they should with both transducers on at the same time.
I'm lost I thought there was a transducer on the motor under the unit in that flat area? What transducer did you mount on the core as you called it or motor.. That I bolt hasn'tworked out yet Looks bent

How has this held up over the last year?
@@scottbroder5908 Still working great. I fished the sacramento river for stripers and lakes for bass
You have the video?

I set mine up the same way after watching this video. This man has it figured out. Minn Kota should be paying this person some money.
Minnkota should have designed it better. Not everyone want it on a pole bolted to the deck of the boat.

Ive watched dozens of these videos and I have now found the way im going to do mine

I'm going to do this set up thanks

I really like this set-up! I tweaked it by using a snap swivel on the motor end to get the swivel action.
instablaster...

Nice idea but wanted to ask what is wrong with using the 2D in the Ulterra? isn't that a down image transducer built into the motor assembly. Thanks
no the built in will not do down scan or side imaging
I really like this I’m using this set up on my new Helix 7, but why not clamp the cable directly to the motor, eliminating the clip.
No doubt will work well in clean water. Here in Florida fishing grass and weeds not so good.

Also there is no adapter cable from Hummingbird or Lowrance because the DSI combined power and TD in one connection.
Protect the harvest is a great organization also.
Hi all. The system is still working great. I have had no problems to date.
what about when you are in anchor mode and the head spins 360...any issues there ?
@@timmyc365 i wanna know same thng...

Love it. Can I ask you where you purchased the bike cable?
Walmart
Amazon
Where did you get that bicycle cord at
Walmart in lock section
Wrap the bike cable/transducer cable around the TM leg.
How long is your bike cord. They make many different lengths?
Sure would like to know more about the change your made with the cable mounting point. I'd like to do this to mine, but the change you made would be very helpful to know. Could you post another video or photo? Thanks
I would like to see how you did the jam nut ordeal
Great Idea. Thank You
Check with precision sonar they make mounts just for this type of motors I have one on my powerdrive works great
Thank you for sharing this information. With a little tweaking of my own, this idea works great!!!
did you ever put the zip ties on it?
Excellent thanks it’s really stupid they made them that way. I have the same problem with a ix3 motor Guide. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I am having same issue
Where did you buy your bike cable
Walmart lock section
outstanding thanks
what do you do with the integral 2D universal sonar cable that is pre-installed?

1/4 or 1/2 size cable?
Perfect ! Thanks

He doesn't fish the slop with that rig
Is this still working well?
Yes, no problems. I did move the cable mounting point to an eyebolt closer to the starboard side of the boat for a better angle.
Eric Whitley thanks should work good for my dads pontoon
Eric Whitley could you expand on this a bit. I’m not sure what you did. Thanks for the video.
Could you post a new video or photo of what you changed?
What a mess. Guarantee thats a weed magnet. A couple zip ties and a length of 1/8 bungee is all you need.
