Elliot is hands down one of the best drummers to come out you should check out Spooge another early project of his and Neck is a project from the other dudes. I remember picking up Centralia when It first came out Wiley base on the band name and title tracks popped it in my car and went home and played that album until the next album came out. Him, Chris Pennie and Blake Richardson and a few other non humans changed my drumming forever. The early 2000s was the best for drummers. Now everyone is recycling the erra and metal drumming is just getting crazier thanks the these dudes.
I played a show with these guys to maybe 10 people in Philly, years before they were signed. I said to the dude in my band "we're terrible" as I watched Car Bomb smoke the room.
Oh man 100000%! Saw them live finally earlier in the ear and I just couldn’t believe that somehow live they turned it up a notch somehow even? I’ve listened to that Santa Cruz live album prolly over 100x….. just the sickest shit ever 🙌
In Brutal Assault 2019, I saw Daugthers, Meshuggah, and Car Bomb back to back, which is my All time favorite concert going experience. Since then, Ive slowly become convinced that Car Bomb are one of the most precious metal bands of our time, as their work keeps on exploring the unknown, while doing so in the most organically chaotic way Ive ever heard. Eren Jaeger probably has "The Sentinel" on repeat while cruising the shores of Marley.
Saw my mates band support this band at a tiny venue in Derby on one of their days off from the Gojira tour, I think just after Meta came out. They're the best metal band I have ever seen live, it was like being run over in the best way possible. Total sensory overload. Lovely chaps as well, shout-out Greg's aphex twin tattoo
saw them in brooklyn and you described the show I saw too. fuckin jaw-dropping, I remember doing the little chuckle you do when youre like happy and in disbelief
Elliott Hoffman is the best drummer most people have never heard of, an absolute beast. Not only can he play all that insane nonsense like he's strolling through the park -WITH NO CLICK- but he can explain it and write it all out like he's making a grocery list.
Meta is one of those albums that are superficially impressive due to all the fancy playing but then becomes god tier as you digest the entirety of the album. It wanders in and out of various modern metal styles and is at times quite jarring and abrasive but the overall scope and vision ends up feeling extremely cohesive and we'll thought out. It's like the musical equivalent of Tarantino's best cinematic work.
Listening to Cynic always drove me crazy. You could hear the Hi-Hat going during double base-parts. I never knew what was going on there until Sean told me that he is having his left foot on both pedals at the same time. (Miss that guy!)
@@JGBDYT too true. It's funny though. Animals has got car bomb opening for them, but idk I saw animals a couple months ago as well as car bomb and I can tell you idk if I would want to play after car bomb. Its honestly ridiculous
@@drumkidstu The first show I saw From car bomb and Animals was the same night, car bomb doing their first part. The first thing Tosin said when he arrived on stage right after Car Bomb left was "Alright Car Bomb is my favorite metal band guys for sure". At the time I didn't know car bomb very well so didn't understood shit but for me they were more consistent and clean. They are 4 playing without click and that's really insane how precise and in sync they are live I would say Car Bomb is a better band but drummers are equal
Small correction, Car Bomb are from New York, not New Jersey. The Dillinger Escape Plan is the one from New Jersey (and actually, their guitarist Ben Weinman lives in the next town over from me). Super rad band, though (both of them). Saw Car Bomb earlier this year and they melted my face off. 😂
It would be interesting to listen to Elliot's drumming views and dream festival stuff in a podcast or something. Like in a drumming podcast that's not really a drumming podcast.
If we're talking about best band names, I recently saw a band sticker in a venue bathroom for the band Priest Crippler. I love 'Thing Doer' band names in general, but I still can't get over how good Priest Crippler is.
7:00 no mate, it’s off mordial, which you probably have already put together. What an album. Meta still tops it for me, but I think because I rinsed that album, and still do, so much. But mordial is boss as and it’s really grown. Black battery is my fave. Elliot is a freak amongst freaks. The man needs a fence around him. Constant bass face active during any car bomb. And amen on the trip comment, though I had a very awesome experience and laughed at the sound the whole time, whilst my visuals were basically the dissect yourself video. And this was with meta in 2017. I lost my virginity to music again after Meshuggah’s punishing. But I can hear an aphex twin influence, in the chaos that is car bomb, so the tattoo makes sense and I didn’t know that until now. Lots of Elliot’s music has that prog electronica/IDM edge, those sequence videos are mind boggling, and the guitars are very experimental in tone and fx and placement with car bomb. Frickin love it
car bomb is on another level. w^w^^w^w is in my top 5 albums of all time. i listened to that album for 2 years straight and not a single other band. only downside is that i trained my brain to only enjoy complex music. a lot of previous bands i used to love are boring as hell.
It’s not a piccolo dude and why would you play this without a click? But we’re one the receiving end, Elliot creates this and yes, the entire band is incredible to say the least.
Car Bomb is one of those bands that, on first listen, you go "what the fuck are they doing?". Then once you start to realize you go "WHAT. THE. FUCK. ARE. THEY. DOING."
100% do not recommend this bands music specifically while on mushrooms. Weed? Bring it. Drunk? Let’s go. Too many texture changes that one could see in the music. 100% recommend mushrooms though 🫶🏻
I can only imagine dude lol. That’s for experienced psychonauts that literally want to try to push themselves into dark waters. The texture of car bombs music is so alien and abrasive at the same time I can’t even imagine trying to process that on an 8th of shrooms

They need to start off their next album with a sample of you saying “no click, get fucked”
"fuck right off"
me anytime i listen to Car Bomb pretty much
Why is your name so close to mine, an you like car bomb?
I played a show with these guys to maybe 10 people in Philly, years before they were signed. I said to the dude in my band "we're terrible" as I watched Car Bomb smoke the room.
Elliot is my favorite drummer alive. ~ian
YES
The most underrated drummer and band in the world imo. Just absolutely impressive in every way. Incredible live show as well! My jaw was in the floor

Car Bomb is one of my all-time favorite bands, and Elliot is a big part of why. Dude is fucking insane.
Insane to see him basically sleepwalking through parts that I can’t even begin to approach with any semblance of comprehension. So relaxed.

I think Elliot has actually been sober for 10+ years now or so.
Ahaha true mate
All these dudes are like super educated computer programmers or managers in companies. I found Mike on LinkedIn hahaha.
PSA: the FortinAmps channel has some amazing videos of Greg performing at namm a couple years back.
confirmed, Elliot Hoffman looks like Ron Pearlman
Fantastic band with a fantastic drummer.
I’m so happy you’ve done a car bomb vid!!
Unbelievably relaxed
Piccolo is giving me The snare sound from Will Haven, Soulfly etc from 99 - 02. I love it.
