Honestly Brett, I think you are the best at comparing and reviewing rc cars. Your videos are so informative, I watched the one where you compare the Vorteks to the Rustler, and you go into depth regarding every little detail of both cars. The size comparisons you provided in this video, were awesome, some uploaders don't even cover that much info in a single video that speciales only in "size comparison" the picture quality of your video, I can't see this get any better. 5/5 pure excellence. Thank you.
Kevin talbot takes the cake for durability test
@@Ethan_LeBlanc that’s just common sense
@@YaBoiWolf_YT lol
@Ethan_LeBlanc but only Americans matter
With a little disposable income I was gifted the opportunity to go shopping for a new toy, and since it initial release I’ve always had my eye on the Xmaxx, but was strongly advised to hold off and wait for this. My impatience got the better of me so I went out and bought the Xmaxx… and I’m glad I did! I absolutely love it!!. I drove my brothers XRT, and as awesome as it is… I like an rc that challenges you to keep it in control and upright, I don’t feel the XRT presents these challenges like the Xmaxx does… plus it’s not as robust as the Xmaxx
-Ok thank you very much. Xmaxx it is.
I love the amount of new tech/features integrated in the XRT. Great video, Brett.
Not much is new actually
@@rcplayground7 Sure. I was mostly referring to the vents in the body, and the body mounting system and such. I have a Slash so, that’s new to me. 😂
Another great video👍 XRT looks like a solid truck. Can't believe those jumps off the fence😱
EXCELLENT VIDEO.
I have always found your reviews to be very honest & accurate.
Always loving your content. I'm convinced now which rc will be my next. Keep up your great content.
Mine was waiting on my door step when I got home last night. I haven’t driven it yet but I love it already, the body is really rigid and the way it mounts is pure genius.
Love the breakdown on this. Well done.
So many RUclipsr have the XRT they always recommend to change the tires, with Brett you see how they perform, they rip make the XRT stable, but if you change for something with more grip that will some problem. Great platform that Traxxas create to show how strong is the rc with plastic only
I'm glad you showed the wing mount broke. I was skeptical because I saw it was broken when you turned it to show us underneath
I don't think we realized it broke until we got back to the office. We're not sure when or how it broke honestly.
-Brett
Good info Brett thank you. Always impressed with Traxxas. I like this truck.
You bring it perfekt to a Point - all the time. Love your videos
The XRT seems like a beast. The new tech, feature are great.
I bet you guys have a great time with those sick rc’s .. great job. Thanks
I love the GPS getting sent into orbit at 8:24 😂
Bumper did what it was meant to do! Zero breakages 💪💪💪💪💪💪
once again, great video Brett, highly considering one...jus waiting on my Kraton 4S from you guys!!
Awesome review as always!
I am really interested in this car. Great job reviewing it bro. Your the best, glad your the marketer for amain brother. Keep up the great work. 💯 appreciate it very much.
Finally finally what everyone is waiting for
I was just thinking that!
Great vid brother. Spot on as always and you seem to cover everything that we actually care about when we drive these trucks. And not only backflips!. 😂👊🏻👍🏼💪🏻 love my black edition XRT. Great job thank you. It is the most stable and best handling RC l have and that’s why l bought it. You seem to get that in your vid!
I like that last scene, how it washed the tires in that puddle 😊
Super awesome edit guys great work.
Awesome Job Brett, I’m looking forward for to purchasing mine from AMain
Its cool and if I didnt have a Sledge and Xmaxx I might consider it, but I am happy with the Sledge and it doesnt really compare to the Xmaxx plus like you shown every review I have seen has ended up with a broken wing mount. Great review as always
Cool review and run of the XRT, I was thinking about an XRT but currently i'm set on another X-Maxx but i might come back to the XRT when i make my decision on one or Kraton 8S EXB. Again cool video Brett i love your reviews and other videos.
Looks like a beastie!
Would love to some day get into this hobby, I just can't quite afford it right now. Maybe some day! It looks like so much fun. I remember loving RC cars when I was a kid. They certainly weren't this fancy!
8:24 “Smacks curbs and doesn’t care” I’m pretty confident I saw something break and fly off when it hit lol
Ha! You definitely did. That was the GPS speed meter that had been sticky taped to the back of the body. We turned that clip into a short you can see here: ruclips.net/user/shortsh1PEtr6yzhA
-Brett
I could imagine if you put street tires on this, put shorter stiffer springs on it and put stiffer shock oil in it, it would be a great street basher/ jumper.
It’s amazing how Brett doesn’t care about the first scratches or rolls I would cry after that 😂
Its easy when its not yours ;)
If you don't want it scratch it or break it leave it on the shelf.
It's donated to the channel..they could careless if caught a train to Texas and got ran over by reindeer 🦌🎄
@Fishing Southern Indiana I don't want mine scratched but then take it to the skatepark the next day
@Nathan If you can afford it buy an extra body.. One for runs and one for the shelf 👌🏼
This thing just set the bar a little bit higher, didn’t it? For those interested in over powering and modifying the truck:
1/5 scale servo is WAY easier to install
The Max 5 combo fits with a radio box delete, and large aluminum motor mount.
It does bottom out too easy, so fuel tubing bump stops will help save driveshafts and shock shafts, and 70-90 wt shock oil helps dampen the suspension.
Increase front diff oil to 100 back to 300-500, and you can then get it to slide a bit more around turns.
Super high density foam or soft rubber in the rear bumper mount helps it from breaking.
Shoe Goo Fiba Tape on the body will increase the bodies life span.
The seals/felt bushings around the driveshaft will help with dust migrating it’s way into the diffs.
The wire guides Traxxas added are awesome.
And yes, all of the above is unnecessary.
The XRT V2 will have new wing bumper mount and new steering bell cranks. That’s the only two things that broke on mine. I used the steering upgrade from M2C and have had zero problems with that weak spot. Replaced wing bumper one 3D printed with a flexible filament. So far, so good.
When will the V2 be available?
Killer monster truggy. I’m not really a fan of the air scoops. Yea, cooling air is a good thing, but they scoop up a lot more than air. Whatever you run on or in, those scoops are inevitably going to inhale some of it. Sand, dirt, grass, gravel, snow/water. 90% of the time the air coming in from under the body is plenty when coupled with the twin fans. Bash on people🤙🏼🏁
Cool RC and overview
Basically the truck I wanted shortly after buying an X-maxx(and realizing other then being huge it just handled like crap). Would of kept it if they just made a LCG chassis. 5 Years later, Traxxas finally made the truck I wanted then.
This might be a long term thing though. Just can't justify the price of the truck and new electronics cause that servo and esc have to go.
We need more head to head comparison videos, like rustler and vorteks video
Awesomeness, great review!!
Your friendly
(RET)SSG
needs a hitec d845 servo and at least a 1100kv hobbywing and max 5 esc ....awesome drop on this beast traxxas!!!!!
In many ways, this reminds me of a giant Rustler.. It's amazing how stable this truck is, it almost wont flip over no matter what. The only downside i can see, is that lack of air control, to do backflips etc, like the E-revo, but i guess you can't have it all.
Great video. Thanks.
Nice looking truck!
My local dealer had 2 and said he only needed one, sold it too me for 799$. What a steal can’t wait till this weekend!
I hope you had many great weekends with that XRT, I know I would. Damn I love this RC car, I wanna buy one when I can!
One big truck. Nice
Nice, Thats a huge Car, maybe i order one
Awesome truck
TRX4M relese gave me so much more emotions that XRT. Please Do!
One thing I have to commend Traxxas on, despite the many things I have issues with them with, is the fact that they don't generally give inflated scales for their cars. They're not trying to call this 1/5th or 1/6th scale, they're just calling it "large scale".
Watching that thing at a dirt track is like watching the Terminator walk into a kindergarten. Jeebus!
Great video but why didn’t you compare to the 1/5 scale Arrma Kraton 8s besides the 1/8th scale Kraton?? Racing trucks have ever adjustments available like for example turnbuckles, sway bars, adjustable links, camber.
Finally!
you know what I like to see Traxxas do.
ADD A CAMERA on board with goggles like the DRONE DJI FPV
enjoy the experience of what's it's like be hide the wheel and be able to drive it far without losing sight.
yes, we have Gopro but that's only to see what's been recorded
I'm sure ppl have rig them up, but it be cool if it came equipment
Dream basher, but little princey, really love to have it in blue
Any thoughts on how it compares to the Arrma Fireteam? I’m really interested in the XRT but already have the FT. Apart from size there doesnt seem to be much more to the XRT. Watching both of your reviews for these cars, you seem more enthusiastic about the FT describing it as a “beast” and the XRT as “stable”.
I can't wait till proline makes other bodies for the XRT so I can custom paint them
Should be called the Traxxas XTR(a). What a beast.
i've been waiting for traxxas to make a truggy similar to the the x maxx yet with that sledge style.
correction its a truck
Soooooooooo sooo sooo jealous. The only nice track in my 100 mile radius closed a few years ago. And with 10 rc's total, my wife says I don't drive them enough to stay in the hobby. That track is super cool. Great explanations.
How do you mount your GPS? I just wrap mine in electrical tape around the battery hold down on my Slash and Sledge, but it doesn't stay on the Xmaxx battery hold down. Also this is a great video, I'm getting an XRT soon and now I know what to look out for in this beast!
New Traxxas XRT 8s 👍💯
Love it..
Exelent monster truck !!!! is it running on 8S ? no heat issues ?
Truggy's are making a comeback
Nice
So, it runs on two batteries? If I want a back up system I have to buy 4?
You forgot the 8s Kraton in that size comparison line up there bud!!
Love mine
With the XRT and the Sledge. Where does that leave the Revo 2.0?
I'm following a lot of RC channels but no one can better explain as You. I like your Videos. BTW I pre Ordered the same color and in Germany its awaible from 9.12 :(
You think the XRT need a better Servo?
Best greetings from Germany :)
Thanks Vic! The factory servo does the job ok, but an upgrading servo would definitely be on my list of upgrades! Better servo + servo adapter: www.amainhobbies.com/traxxas-xmaxx-maxx-xrt-standard-servo-adapter-tra7749/p512518
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies same Adapter like in the X-Maxx and mini Maxx. Thank you Brett :) Soon I will upload a Unboxing Video on German when the XRT arrive hit a Like button :)
@@AMain_Hobbies Do you think the XRT needs a bit more punch/speed? Maybe just an esc upgrade and the optional gearing would do? I've noticed the XRT just doesn't seem as "rowdy" as the stock sledge does. Great review!
Wonder if extra long xmaxx shocks will work. . Do the suspension arms/steering design allow for the resulting ride height rise?
No, I don't think so. The arms and driveshafts don't plunge down that far if I remember right.
-Brett
The XRT seems like such a beast. I do a lot of bashing with no or very small jumps, and it just seems perfect for that. I've been debating whether I'll keep saving up for an X-Maxx or switch to saving up for an XRT since the XRT was announced, haha. Still leaning towards the X-Maxx, though, because I don't have a truck like that, but I do have a Rustler (which I absolutely love, it's my favorite one), and the XRT seems to basically be an incredibly powerful Rustler-type car. I bet it drives really different because of the weight difference, though. Gah... now I'm doubting again. XD
I'm in the same spot like you. But finally I will get the XMAXX.
@@evoxer87 I probably will, uh, might, maybe too? XD
I think i might buy the King shocks Losi but would love to get an Xmaxx or Xrt but a bit out of my price range for now
I recommend the X-Maxx.
Xmaxx all the way.. just look at some of my videos and see what it can handle
Hi, good video but I didn’t get the beep sound..what should I do?
Awesome video again. You ship rc’s to europe ?
Yes Sir! We cannot ship Traxxas to EU sadly, as well as some "hazardous" items, like nitro fuel and lipo batteries.
-Brett
I would be tempted slightly but at $2k au+ batteries I'm not to sure I can bring myself to buy it going from a ristler 4x4 vxl and wanting something more capable on rough terrain.
You know, sometimes you just can't really appreciate the size these things are from watching the video...
There was a piece of plastic flying after you hit the curb, was that the wing mount?
I saw that as well. Durable truck, but saying it didn't even care wasn't quite accurate. I'd still love one.
It was the GPS speed meter popping off. Here's the clip from our AMain Hobbies Shorts channel: ruclips.net/user/shortsh1PEtr6yzhA
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Ahh, that makes more sense. Thanks for the clarification, Brett. God bless my friend!
Has anyone done a narrow XRT build yet using the stock xmaxx arms? I think it would be the ultimate in handling around a race track.
I like the way you think!
-Brett
Look how much less contact patch there is with those tires ballooning like that.
Brett, You need to turn off the gyro to do backflips off the fence, you hoodlum. lol
Show
$1,500 truck 2 batteries charger extra tires... dang
Hello :D I want to buy some RC crawler tires kind of like snow mud that works better in both summer and winter which compound is better g8 or Predator compound, Thank you have a good thanksgiving day!
How do you install the 6700 properly with causing to much damage on the wires?
Usually the wires are more flat, or kind of directional, coming out of the battery. You want that flat, or direction, to be pointing into the chassis. This was my strategy at least, and also very careful snapping the strap tight, and then unsnapping loose.
-Brett
at 8:25 you say that the xrt didnt even care so you ran up the curb again.... I'm curious what it was that appeared to break off the car when you hit the curb, and did the car begin to care once it realized it was injured? Or did it forgive you?
ahh. i see. you bucked your wing-mounted module. was that concerning for the car? Or was it delighted to know it was no longer being so closely monitored?
It was the GPS speed meter that popped off from the back of the body. We had it stuck on there with double sided tape for the speed run. We made a short of that clip, unfortunately it's not slow mo: ruclips.net/user/shortsh1PEtr6yzhA
-Brett
I think if I get on I’ll put a narrow kit on it
So xmaxx or xrt to build from scratch?
Heya, would you go for the Traxxas XRT or the Arrma Kraton 1/5 EXB. I don't know which one to go for. Please help.
I have a regular kraton 8s, and an xmaxx, the kraton cannot wheelie or do any stunts. It jumps farther than the xmaxx, but the xmaxx does better flips. Getting a kraton to flip in the air is damn near impossible
Xrt please
Arrma and it’s not even close. Arrma is far more adjustable and customizable. Standard 1/5 servos, more space for bigger motors, fits giant ESCs with minimal fuss, adjustable battery trays, adjustable suspension, overall larger beefier running gear, etc.
Got one on launch, worth it...
Traxxas XRT or Arrma Kraton 8s? which way should I go? Great review Brett!!
Xrt. Please
K8 and it’s not even close. With the Arrma you don’t have any proprietary nonsense. Far more servo options, adjustable ESC programming (including BEC voltage), far more motor choices, adjustable suspension (camber, toe, etc) adjustable battery trays, helical cut diff gears, sway bar mounting points, and it’s cheaper.
@@PigglyWigglyDeluxe Right On Brother! bought the Kraton 8s roller and the Castle 2028-800kv/XLX2 esc combo. Now to hunt down a good servo!
@@shuster1921 I’ve got the spektrum 9110BL servo in mine. Mighty spendy but pretty damn good on 8.4v
@@PigglyWigglyDeluxe you sound like a bent chassis😂
Would you recommend this over the new Sledge?
No, they're too different to go head to head. I'd say go XRT if you want the biggest size possible, but go Sledge for the most explosive power experience. If possible, own one of each :)
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies That's what I thought, thanks!!!
Extreme Race Truck guess traxxas forgot about the E in Extreme
And the R for racing. Since when does Traxxas do racing?
Can you make a veodeo of the traxxas Rustler 4x4 vs traxxas slash 4x4 thank you ?...
i just hope that they never end produce spare-parts for the x-maxx
Hi Brett I have a Question for you. Does the XRT VXL-8S Combo fits in the UDR? Motor and ESC? best regards from Germany :)
They're probably too big, but we have never tried that. If you did put 8S in the UDR, how long would the truck last?
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies I'll try it this weekend... Vitavon Rear Driveshaft is a must have I think. Gona try it first on 6S didnt find any lipos that fit in the battery tray 2x4S.
@@vic_Mei Oh yeah! I didn't think of that. ProTek has these really thin 4S packs but they'd be pricey: www.amainhobbies.com/protek-rc-4s-130c-low-ir-sigraphene-hv-lcg-lipo-battery-15.2v-4300mah-ptk-5101-22/p1370761
We took two of them, changed the connectors, and used them in a 1/8 kraton to make is 8S in this video: ruclips.net/video/Oh4yKdPkJK4/видео.html
They're the slimmest 8S option that I know of.
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies spicy Price :) they are not avialable in Germany. 15,2v some extra Power ^^ thx for your advice and time. If it works I will writte you how it goes
@@vic_Mei Yes, please let us know! Good luck.
-Brett
When is this going to be available for online purchase ? It has said store pickup for a while now.
We don't know. That's up to Traxxas to decide.
-Brett
Thanks Brett! You rock as usual.
Beautiful truggy. Would love a scaled down version. Slegde doesn't do it for me.
Rustler 4X4?
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies my friends rustler 4x4 broke on the first pull of the trigger. He never drives it now.
@@twinturbotony93 What did break on it if I may ask? I considered buying a rustler 4x4 vxl but I'm not completely sold on it.
what broke off at 8:25?
are these off the market already? not on the website?
They're only purchasable at retail hobby shops, not on the website. We still wanted to make a video regardless, so hope you enjoyed it. Checkout your local hobby shop.
-Brett
it definitely bottoms out at 11:15.
Drove my friends XRT once, handles REALLY well, but the stock electronics are horrendous, ESPECIALLY the ESC. He swapped it out for a Max6 and the car instantly became faster and accelerated better. I have no idea why Traxxas continous to include such bad electronics in their cars.
