The Emperor was very different and to my eyes by no means a ruler without the part off his soul completely cut off. On the contrary he seems to be very intent on making his first son and the standin Emparah Robute set up as his physical body in this materrium. Sure there are others that are of importance. Roboute Gulliman simply because no one else would follow his father's dream so completely. No one else can organize such a vast body of work like it is nothing and also be human enough to make the ones who believe that they shouldn't be in charge by humanoids, almost cyber human still see the Primarchs of one them selves. Just like you look at Mike Tyson or Cro Cop. Guilleman is more human than many off the humans themselves and he's certainly not in it for his own goal. He has the leaders and authority that few have. The Lion has it. Even more so than Robute incredibly enough, but Even tough his ultimate new quest for him given to him by his Father is most likely one he has to choose first unless he'll be as stubborn and anything but a genius commander like Robute. When he gets so childishness fooled by the chaos champion. His energy won't even hit him. He's so awesome that the don't even dare. This is the commander of the chaos champion who decides over a fleet full of chaos Marines. Quite a few a very scourge by themselves. They keep on following this supposed embarrassing weakling that can't even conjure power enough to make it 59cm longer. Embarrassingingly bad writing in a book that is full of it........ but I still love it. And I have gone from a Dark Angel "haters" to one of my favorites just like that. I've always just kept them on the back burner since Russ and his Werewolves are the true force that makes chaos tremble and, ask their hideous mommy's look under the bed 🛏️ just to make sure old Wolf King Russ still scare the useless xenos. I just can't wait until Russ and Lion faces each other and it's written by a competent writer who understands that having to heroes fighting each other is such a BS move. Lion and the Wolf together against a size of Tyranids or some evolved/Köks/Orks on a superb war would be something so great to read or listen to that it would be hard to top as an action flick. The huge Amys of the Marines are only drawing fire. Fire so that the Ork Warbozzez doesn't realize that Lion and Leman..are going covert . Flanking their foes. They have a group of 5-8 Marines with them. To make banter death from others than the same two Great stuff would be by chance happening upon a female fighter pilot who becomes their battle sister ...and so on.... yada.....of course much revealing about the old ones. Not everything but some cryptic why the Emperor and the old ones are working together. More about all the phenomenal super stuff his power armor is made up off. And especially what it can do that is really cool. I don't know. Having him hand a Thunder glove as extra tool. Either arm I Guess but on his sword arm just makes it pop more imo.
It's certainly looks boring to have the master of mankind essentially written out of the setting. You can try justify it so many ways, but you know as well as any ten year old will that until maybe 20 but realistically 30 years from now will The Emperor of mankind, the master of mankind in fact even be talked about or mentioned compared to this new vagina. I understand that will roughle some feathers, but it doesn't make it any less true. I sure hope that I am wrong and that the real, the real without question the actual bonafide MASTER OF MANKIND isn't becoming a second hand character.. It's not like the exact simila scenario hasn't already happened to more franchises. Just wait until this very Small part will turn out to be OF SOOOOO much stronger than he incredible strength of his already shown part. Please don't try to just do justify how wrath, strength, wisdom etc......stronger than.......rainborns and unicorn.😂 Together they're the master of mankind. Don't try desperately trying to insert the Emperor can be both. Do be a bigot. The Emperor is a she. Has always been and will be welcomed by the ten people who gatekeep like crazy. I understand access to GW Sandman........ But I can also see what it really is that really makes you think WH40k is bloody awesome. Just a taste. The Lion battles Angron singlehandedly....... really screaming femininity, right? It wasn't such huge still talk about event in the setting after a year even though cool stuff wasn't either jamed down over througts..FYI I'm most certainly not complaining. I love lore from the Sandman. If I don't agree with your thoughts I have th perfect sandsack that will punish me forever doubting you. Hail to the Sandman! Hell tell that Ravenor isn't twice the draw as Bequin. Now let's compare with Eisenhorn. Am I Ridicolous if I say 1k.......39,999k. for anyone interested in Bequin as the main source and not old smiley face himself. Yes it's messy as arse to read but I know you. The fight between Horus vs Leman Russ. Horus vs The Lion Round 2 Horus vs Sanguineous Horus vs The Master of Mankind. You love this as much as I . It doesn't mean even a little bit that you don't want anything else. Just that I'm a boy and I like playing with the idea of being the utter un- egotistical super man who's utterly capable Like Russ, Conan my favorite, Lion El Johnson
I would devour a short story of just the Lion and Guilliman sitting down and talking. Like just talking. They get some rare time in warp transit maybe back to Terra and they just interact. Probably a brotherly hug, maybe a tear from Guilliman that one of his most stalwart brothers lives, and neither are alone and just to speak to one another. Especially regarding the conversations and troubling things the Emperor has said and is going through. Would be absolutely fascinating in my opinion.
It’s like how the scene of the three Spider-Men just chatting about being Spider-Man was the best scene in No Way Home. Sometimes characters just chatting can be incredibly compelling and entertaining.
Every time Abbaddon scores a big victory he winds up resurrecting a primarch and powering up Big E. What's next for the Despoiler? Successfully blowing up an important planet and bringing back Corax, Jaghatai or Russ? Launching an invasion of Segmentum Solar and having Dorn or Vulcan pop out of the shadows? Bombing a strategic imperial garrison world and having the ghost of Ferrus or Sanguinius manifest and set fire to the Vengeful Spirit?
If The Emperor is stirring, i can only imagine he's 2 prayers away from an aneurism. He'd have to reorganize his empire YET AGAIN in a Text To Speech style event, but with a lot less sass from Kitten and far more traumatic experiences... poor Kitten. He's gonna need so much therapy.
Yeah, big E coming back will 100% plunge the entire imperium into chaos, possibly resulting in civil war. Half the Ecclesiarchy will be all for it and the other half will call it heresy with some splinter groups that won't really care but will want things to return to a status quo one way or another. I think Big E will be okay with how things are set up with the adeptus mechanicus in the short term simply for practicality, but long term he'd push for a return to scientific and technologic advancement and put them into a position where they'd either lose relevancy or be forced to give up some of their dogma to remain in power. Of course all of this is assuming that Big E returning isn't an 11th hour hail mary event to save the Imperium that's seconds from complete destruction anyways.
I think the Emperor would probably say "Having an aneurysm would require having actual brain and circulatory system, and seeing as I have neither, it is both a blessing and a curse that I can not do so."
I just love how deep we can get into the lore of a universe brought into existence to sell miniatures. Sometimes I feel like the lore just has its own life without any actual humans touching it. It just lives and it's glorious!
What is the Emperor doing now that he is awakening? A long, LONG, overdue shower. Hot coffee with a massive breakfast . Watching the News aaaaand falling asleep again ....
Big.E heads to the cafeteria "I want all your bacon and eggs"... "wait come back, what I think you heard was bring me a lot of bacon and eggs, bring me ALL the bacon and eggs" - God Ron Emperor Swanson
As a loooong time fan it's fascinating to see the Starchild concept resurfacing. I remember it from the Lost and the Damned source/rulebook 1990. I had a Sensei warband and lost every battle with them lol
What if and bare with me. The reason the Emperor is fragmented isnt just due to his self mutilation of his soul but also from his duel with Horus. In the old lore its stated that the emperor recieved one devastating wound from Horus that wounded him not just physically but spiritually. Now in the end and the death VoL 3 that is not what happens. Instead he is battered over and over. Being wounded then healed and wounded again. But here comes the important part. Their battle took place on the vengeful spirit/imperial palace which had been dragged into the warp and had become the center of the warp. Now their battle wasnt just on a physical level but also a metaphysical level. Heres the important part. Every wound Horus inflics upon the emperor causes the emperor to bleed years/soul. Bam there it is. Johns journey becomes an absolute hassle why? Because the inevitable city which was a combination of the imperial palace and vengeful spirit which had been dragged into the warp and became the center of the warp had been split once more. His path he had to re-thread was now seperated by both time and distance. And not by a little either. We are talking millenniums and light years. The emperors soul was carved into pieces and spread throughout time and space and thats why his perpetual nature couldnt heal it. He has to pychicly draw himself back together which due to the circumstances of holding hell back with the force of his will alone isnt something that can be done in a reasonable time 😂 This is also why his conversation with guilliman was so wierd. Hes having to literaly pull his fragmented soul back together. And this also means that the lion is likely only speaking to a part of the emperor when he sees the Fisher King. This may have been helpful. When creating an application its better to split data off and run seperately as to not overload the system. The emperor is literaly able to delegate work to different aspects of himself allowing himself to be in many places at once. Which was his only weakness back during the crusade and heresy. He had to leave the crusade to build his webway project. And then he had to sit on the golden throne instead of fixing the damage magnus cause and or killing horus before he got to powerful. Now he can be anywhere and everywhere and when he needs more juice he can pull himself back together like he did in godblight. Chaos watch out when he gets back the part of himself he actual meant to discard.
I appreciate how the books do state that the Emperor didn't have absolute foresight, but saw an end goal but with no firm understanding of the path that would lead there. So his plans came to ruination, but he had plans upon plans including one that accounted for his current situation (I think this was stated by Malcador). I prefer that to a desperate and broken Emperor pulling a hail mary and scrambling to sort things out.
@@jimdoom2276 You can see that it will happen but not the steps you need to take to get there. So he couldn't anticipate which plan of his would be a waste of time.
@@jimdoom2276 you can have an end goal but you cant know every possible thing that will happen in between now and a year from now where youve set your goal to be complete. Things can go wrong or sidetrack you
Also tbh i dont know if the emperor really had contingencies for what happened in the heresy. He certainly couldn't conceive initially that his favorite kid would join chaos. And then malcador kinda scrambled to set up the inquisition. And his idea to beat horus was to become chaos god #5 (sorry malal). The imperium today is on the opposite end of what the emperor wanted for humanity, and if he returned people would worship him even more. Theres not really any way to salvage the imperium imo... Unless this is some 5d chess plan to build up his power by being worshipped like a god. I mean just look at sororitas living saints...theyre basically warp demons but good aligned.
I'm really believing that star child thing. That conversation with Guilliman had so many contradicting statements. People were debating which was the real position of the Emperor when e.g. he calls them sons and also calls them tools. I remember something about the Emperor speaking as if he was struggling to pull himself together. All of that points to the fact that his soul is in two parts. I'm not even sure Guilliman was only speaking to one of the halves...
This is an interesting take on it - The soul communicating being disjointed forces with some level of autonomy based on each part of himself's particular aspect. Wimilar to how we have seen some of the expression of the shards of Sanguinius' soul
Retcon or not the the Emperor's origin was in the immolation of some untold amount of pyskers. Each being a legion onto themselves given what we understand about being psychic and spiritual in w40k.
I don’t see a disparity between the Sons/tools argument, necessarily. In the Christian theology, Jesus is Gods begotten son, yet he also came for a purpose and was the tool of Salvation.
Hes talking about shoving the emporer into a blank, WHAT IF ITS YURGEN?!?! That would be so great hes serving tea to Caiphas Cain and all of a sudden he erupts into golden light or something haha

*The Emperor when The Lion returns* : Oh hai favourite son! Here's a kick ass sword and shield. And here's where to find some of your sons so you can heal the rift in your legion! Love you!! 😘 *The Emperor when Guilliman returns* : Eat shit.
Wuh? The Emperor basically gave Guilliman both Regency over the Imperium in his stead and his literal sword. Tf you mean? The same Emperor who literally looked millennia into the future, and has plans that literally span the majority of the Imperium's lifespan. Clearly, Guilliman is the best suited, if the Emperor himself put the man there.
@@empyrealcultist1992 Not the way you put it. Every single one of them is akin to emperor. Considering every single of them carries emperors traits. My head cannon from what i read the novel when Big E spoke to Robot man he wasn't much of himself only mere seconds near end of their conservation Big E was able to put his scattered mind together to speak. But when he spoke to Lİon he probably had more control compared to before. If you ask my personal comment on the emperors favorite it would be robot man. Cause he is what Big E wanted everything in a tool/son. Has common sense, thinks about ppl, incorruptible and most importantly he doesnt have ego or attention issues.
Living saints appearing at those moments when things are at their most dire provide those “Deus ex-machina” plot devices that miraculously turn the tide, and boost the morale of those in battle. The Sanguinor does the same for the Blood Angels. I love to see it, even if I see it coming! I love Valdor and that he’s been in his own pocket dimension in the Warp, with his nulls and winged Angels. I would love to see the Sensei in 40k again - the Emperor was a MAN, always a man, who took wives and had children over those thousands of years before he ascended to being the Emperor. Some would have inherited a measure of his gifts. How many children have those children had during the whole setting, with some of those children displaying those gifts, some being persecuted as witches and heretics by the Ecclesiarchy and the Inquisition? It’s such an exciting time in 40K!
I always liked how Dan Abnett portrayed the Emperor-in-the-warp as a much more benevolent and loving god (though still not "good" persay) in Gaunts Ghosts. I think the fact that E detatched that part from his pragmatic, scheming, and machivelian emperor-on-the-throne means they will almost inevitably come into conflict. I see the emperor-in-the-warp as something akin to Sigmar or Ulric in the Old World of WHFB. A guiding entity not fundamentally tied to material reality. I see this entity as something different from the last vestiges of the man Neoth (for lack of a better name) tied to the throne.
@@criticalcommenter That's the stupidest equivalency I read, even those that doesn't got brainrot of INquisition LARPing and fans of W40K would find that statement of yours stupid lol
@@criticalcommenterHard disagree. The imperials have literal winged angels and they’re fighting literal demons. It’s not hard. “Oh but some hiveworlds suck to live in!” Okay well whose fault is that.
that theory of the legion of the damned being the warp resonance of all the xenos races is probably spot on, esentially an army of the angriest chaplains ever!
I prefer to believe that they are a manifestation of how Imperial citizens see space marines. Space Marines normally struggle against demons and warp entities, but in the minds of the faithful, they are an invincible force
If the small amount of humans in the tau empire are enough to make a deity, then the Imperium HAS to have made something massive in the warp. What if the warp effigy emperor and the true emperor are separate entities?
Maybe they started out as the same and became separate. Imagine a pair of identical twins raised together for their first years only to the be separated. As adults they could have followed lastly different careers.
Quipster brings up the idea of GW "weaving the tyranids and old ones together somehow would be interesting." I remember hearing a fan theory that has always stuck with me about how an Old One or Old Ones escaped the galaxy after the war in heaven to create the tyranid race in order to scour and perhaps restart the milkyway. Also his point about ancient old ones tech being totally absent in the galaxy/lore was a real wtf moment.
I honestly doubt we’ll get it. The info on unification being sparse helps immensely as a narrative tool to show the loss of knowledge in the setting. If you’re interested in that period though Valdor’s book give some good insights as well as master of mankind
@jacobnordquist3448 If they go with the unification wars I would absolutely love if they were all complete unreliable narrators. Not just hazy details, but something written from the pov of some of the emperors enemies where you can't really tell if it's propaganda or actual history.
Fun Idea: The tyranids are the old ones, them being masters of creating as many biological lifeforms as they have were driven out of the galaxy, they regrouped and decided their only option was to change themselves to what they felt they had, to completely purge the galaxy of the warlike corrupted monsters inhabiting it now, empowering the ruinous forces.
Mephiston got a glimpse of the hive mind and described as something along the lines of “desperately hungry”. I’d buy them as a creation of the Old Ones tho
@@rushpatriot2866 The flood, Tyranids and Zeg all draw from the same older well. That well is a mix of old sci-fi and ancient myth. Uniquness is a strange and ethereal thing.
could also be that his approach was based on his sons personalities. Guilleman he gives a sort of itemised list of things with the Lion he makes it more of a hunt
Im 44 years old, and you have awakened a new thrill in me to learn about Warhammer. Thank you! Sad I didn't get into this years ago, but you're never too old to learn!
I swear, somwtimes it feels like Warhammer is a boutique board game that sometimes releases novels. No one is allowed to win, the needle budges but no one is ever eliminated.
@@SrenHolm-k3o It needs to happen though since so many factions in 40k serve no narrative purpose, nor do they even sell that well so there isn't even a business reason to keep them around.
He's a perpetual though, so he'll heal once he's off the Golden Throne. That's one of the great ironies of 40k. The thing that everyone else believes is keeping him alive is actually the thing preventing him from healing.
@@alanalb1449 No, Horus basically did the equivilent of stabbing a normal person in the torso. Painful and debilitating, but for the Emperor, it would heal fine, probably within a day or two. Unfortunately, Between Chaos United and the constant seepage of demons through the webway / invasion of Terra, he didn't have the time to heal, so he just left his physical body to die while he powers the Astronomican. He's a perpetual, so even if his body is obliterated, he'll still come back IIRC. Even if that didn't work, he could still just reincarnate through the sheer power of his psychic might.
19:13 Imperial Civil War between Star-child and Corpse-God factions of the Imperium? Civil war amongst Chaos elements when Psykers forced to side with Chaos suddenly have the Star-child option? So many possibilities...
Corax was nearly immune to the Emperor's Glamour (he saw the real man, not the Master or Mankind) The Emperor found it curious that Corax could remember his true face, Corax's ability to hide is just the inverse use of the Emperor's Glamour ability. Throughout his books Corax can "conceal" or "amplify" his Primarch aura
Correction, he wasn't immune but he was resistant. He saw someone closer than any other form, a man in emeralds. Still glorious, but much closer than a giant gold man.
"it's curious you should remember that" -The Emperor when Corax told him of the face he remembered seeing through his gestation pod on Terra. Upon his landing Corax only saw an "unremarkable man, with black hair and of average height and build a white robe.
We need a faction that randomizes what happens in a turn by literally using a "tarot" deck; it could be Adepta Sororitas, could be Custotes, could even be Word Bearers.
The funny question is IF the custodes know about the emperor being cleaved in twain, and these two parts not necessarily being alligned, who do the custodes follow?
Im super new to 40k, discoved it when darktide came to xbox, but since then I have read the first two Eisenhorn books and they are incredible. I could definitely see them being a great choice to start a 40k cinematic universe.
If I was a primarch, at this point I might consider helping Abbaddon. Almost all his latest plans help the empire out enough to make up for the bad stuff.
Imagine people weeping for angron, and then coming to hate him as he falls to chaos and still feel so sorry for him any time his consciousness emerges from the fog of rage. It would be like no it's too tragic for even a hint of the great person you were to emerge we have to kill you quickly and horribly any time the empath emerges from the butcher
It bothers me, admittedly an unreasonable amount, how much people want Tyranids to have some type of ‘creationist’ origin. I truly think Tyranids naturally evolving from single celled organisms with no intervention from another faction is the most interesting possible story. Bare with me here, a natural evolution opens up an avenue for GW to actually explore a scientific subject that isn’t pure fantasy. Specifically what I find interesting, is the scientific concept of “emergence”, which is a real thing we see in organisms like ants. The fact that a solitary ant is so unintelligent, but in a collective develops an organized intelligence is fascinating. And not like orks, cause orks obviously achieve what they do through a primarily fantasy mechanic. The idea that emergence is so powerful that it becomes (not creates, but evolves to) a psychic presence; that is true science fiction. If they turn out to be some other specifics, like the Old Ones’ creation would be so ultimately disappointing.
As a nids player and fanboy I wholeheartedly agree, so much cooler thinking they evolved on their own and didn't just get pooped out by a god or godlike being
Food for thought: Andromeda is a measly 2.5 M LY away, which is _peanuts_ compared to how long the Necrons have been sleeping. The Necrons could have flown settlers to Andromeda, found the Tyranids creators, been wiped out, and there's still many millions of years for the Tyranids to get here. The Triangulum Galaxy is about 3.2 M LY away - also not long compared to how long the Necrons have slept - or, for that matter, the War in Heaven. With relativistic time dilation effects, near (but non-FTL) travel would definitely be a preferred way to go: the time is seemingly instantaneous to the traveler, and probably inconsequential to anyone else.
Look into "Michael Levin's academic content" channel. He's a researcher at Tufts University with living experiments and his work shows that evolution isn't DNA based, it's electro-magnetic communication based. He's legit, not a cook, just at the cutting edge. Individual cells are like the ants in your example and perform calculations that can only be called intelligent. DNA is a parts list, not the organizing principle.
Imagine if the Tyranids where originally a rather benevolent species that got corrupted by some kind of infection. Perhaps the real monsters in the tyranid hordes are actually a virus/bacteria/micro organism that has taken control over their victims. The scary thing is that there are such things happening for real. Imagine a infection reprogramming your instincts. Suddenly you get a rodent that loose its fear of cats and actually seek thrm out. Toxoplasma does that. It is also suspected of creating the "crazy cat lady" phenomenon in humans.
It is an Old One creation, sorry to say. They came to the milky way with Zoats leading ahead of them, in Warhammer Zoats are the lizardmen remnants of the Old Ones and the Zoats are the only species to ally themselves with Tyranids for any length of time. This only makes sense if there are lingering control safeguards which prevent the Tyranids from consuming them outright because they have no need whatsoever for emissaries, and no interest in technology, which they leave to the Zoats. If you look at the Archivist, who is a Zoat, or other pictures of Zoats you will see a striking resemblance to Orks, because Orks are derived from Old Ones, this is why they are all psychic. The frequency of psychic potential is hindered in the Zoats because they are ultimately slaves to the Tyranids, though they do break away from bondage due to their independence from the hive-mind and its biotechnology. One such freedman, the Archivist sought the Blackstone Fortress to recover Zoat artifacts which could be found on the re-activated station, why would there be Zoat artifacts on an Old One vessel, despite them being newcomers to the galaxy, unless they had a connection? Who else but the Old Ones could engineer such a versatile and fearsome creature?
16:42 that kind of fits into the fact that the Imperium of Men is an Organisation where nobody is really in control and different people have ultimate power in different Situations and for different reasons. Emps being more then one being kind of fits that.

Great content, great voice, you’re one of the sources for my 40K fix, keep up the amazing work and enthusiasm. Food for thought. Can the Legion of the damned be related to the II and XI legions?
Do all the writers have sitdowns before a novel is written? Is there a roadmap for the future or is it made up as they go along? If there's a roadmap, what sort of latitude does each writer have to play with within the roadmap? Who approves each book?
Arbiter Ian and Mira Manga do some writer interviews and they do have roadways IE here is where we are, here is where we are going, fill in the blanks and submit it for review.
@@SandmanofTerra how they are not doing interviews with people like you, I do not know. They don't have to reveal anything but they should open up to fans because it pulls them back in. :)
"Do all the writers have sitdowns before a novel is written?" No. None of the BL authors really communicate with each other. That's why there are always so many narrative inconsistencies between novels written by different authors. That's why I unironically don't consider anything BL puts out to be canon. It's just officially supported fan fiction. If it isn't written in the lore section of the rulebook or codex, then it isn't canon. That's my take and it simplifies things immensely.
My prediction for Emd times: 40K edition™️ Step 1: Tyranids attack the entire the galaxy, Xenos and all Step 2: Necrons shit out a black hole or something idk, they’re the biggest counter to nids and they have got tier tech. Or maybe they put a C’tan back together. Step 3: The true threat shows up. Maybe it’s something new, maybe it’s Orks, or maybe, just maybe it’s T’au. *huffs Zeno copium*
If 40k ends I hope they just use all of these characters in a fantasy setting. Same Emperor, Lion gets scattered to Brettonia, Vulcan to the Lizard People, Russ to the North tribes, etc etc. Let them fight the Skaven!
The Emperor in WFB is a weakling/fop whose dooming the Empire to destruction from its foes. At least, that's the original and best version of it because it's a grim world of perilous adventure after all. It wasn't a fun place to be. Then they went all Empire in Flames and had him turn into Sigmar and it all went to pot. But no, they don't really need to transpose them to WFB/WFRP. It's much better off as it's own thing.... now... Space Skaven squirting the musk of fear.... oh yes, yes please. That would be awesome.
Linking the Nids and the old ones starts sounding like the flood and the precursors from Halo. I think the introduction of more old one lore would be cool, maybe a storyline about vashtor trying to acquire old one tech to ascend to godhood
Was The Emperor using those adjectives to Guilliman or rather ALL of the primarchs at once? Was - thru the pain - the Emperor casting "titles" out for all the others? Think of how those words fit the primarchs...
I have no problem with GW bringing back all of the Primarchs if it is done well. Likewise if they want to bring Magnus back over to the Emperor’s side, do it well. Do it over time with stories that capture the imagination.
I agree w/ the point made at 27:49 regarding the power of belief that a group of individuals if they believe enough it can become a reality. Starchild, Legion of Damned, heck the whole Orc WAAAAGH!!! power, seems to be a fundamental tenant of a lot GW at times. It was a good point to make or get folks thinking about
I want to see the WH40K series follow the Imperial Gaurd, Planetary Defence Force, or Belsarius Carl's ascension from human to tech priest. Any of the three would feature humans, that new people to 40k could relate to.
Fuck new people, be a hardcore nerd and become engaged like all of us or F off, my beloved setting does not need dragged down to shit like everything else through appeal to the illusive uncaring wider audience!
I agree that Warhammer 40,000 has an endpoint and I think it's important for GW to keep in mind knowing when to take a bow with the setting. The worst thing would be to watch it die without ceremony. Also I can picture an animated story of Loken in my mind's eye.
@@Argumemnonbut even after resolving one storyline, you can start anew with a fresh story like after chaos the eldar or necrons or tyranids take over in a massive way
I don’t think GW with ever “take a bow” with the setting, which means there can be no end point. Unless it stops making money, in which case they will kill it without any big organised end game. As public company, they have a legal obligation to the shareholders to generate profit. If the IP is profitable, it would actually be illegal for them to kill it - unless they can demonstrate to the shareholders that they have some other way to keep the money flowing in afterwards.
The problem with that is GW are a bunch of dumb, greedy bastards who will milk the franchise until they've lost as much good will with their players as Hasbro/Wizards has with D&D and MtG. That's just reality. The only way the story is gonna end is if fans get so frustrated they stop buying/playing new editions because they're just a mindless caah grab, a la D&D.
A few years ago, with the advent of the primaris/indomitus/models White Drawf had an issue with a list of appearances by the Legion of the Damned in an inquisition file, showing that an ordo hereticus was trying to hunt down every instance and attempt to capture them...
After reading about the Star Child during 5th Ed, I am hoping they are bringing it back to full canon because it is a cool plot element and could really be a kickass plot for an inquisitor campaign and novels. I would how the Sisters of Battle would view them?
The point about Eisenhorn for the Amazon TV show starter not needing as much special effects is a good one. Keeping the majority of the effects practical rather than CGI (especially given how well Amazon did the CGI on RoP) would really help ground it and make it "feel real". That'd give it a big boost. Edit: Villeneuve would be a great director for an "epic movie/trilogy" but he really needs that scale to do his best work.
about thoughts and prayer part: since the emperor's sensory output is so strong and potent, I'm fairly sure he'd be able to "detect" any prayers in his name, and since quantum entanglement is a thing, the souls he'd cut off from himself could still attain the same knowledge or awareness of said prayers.
Great video. But I'll see your Denis Villeneuve W40K and raise you a Neil Blomkampf W40K movie. Villenueve can do cinematography and atmosphere, nail that Gold Gothic look but he's kinda sterile and his action is not visceral. Blomkampfe can do action and a more mechanised, military feel. You want to see Chaos or the Eldar pop, I'm gonna say Guillermo Del Toro. Think about it.
The issue is that Del Toro sympathizes with the monsters first, last and always, (unless he has a co-writer a la Pacific Rim) and there's noooot a lot to sympathize with if the movie is primarily about the Imperium. I do think he'd be great as a conceptual designer for the forces of Chaos, though. My pick for director would be Gareth Edwards if his experiences with Disney didn't destroy his soul.
@@MoonLitChild Those are fair points. I really like Gareth Edwards but I'm just not sure if he'd nail that grandeur. I mean the his action but lit though.
@@MoonLitChild I don't see that as an issue, it always makes a better story when you can relate to the villain just as much as the good guys. In fact its especially important in adding legitimacy and depth to the motives and actions of these God like, Marshall characters. That said, I totally agree that while he would be the perfect Art Director for imagining the look and feel of Chaos and its forces. I imagine his version would feel deliciously Lovecraftian and kafkaesque.
I love your selection! I also want to throw in a few other names in with yours: -lana wachowsk (the matrix films), For a dark and philosophical Dystopian Scifi Epic -Luc Besson (the 5th element, Leon the professional), For Vibrant world building and engaging characters -Oliver Stone (platoon, natural born killers) For a psychotically bloody and brutal war film -Christopher Nolan (Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk) An exciting scifi blockbuster for the masses -Francis Ford Coppola (apocalypse now, godfather, Dracula) A dark, character-driven, decent into madness -Neil Blomkampf (District 9) A gritty and visually unique Sci-fi following the journeys of various characters- as they try to survive and come to terms with their own roles or beliefs. -Guillermo Del Toro (Pans Labyrinth) A dark gothic film with Lovecraftian and kafkaesque style horror.
@@nadiabairamis3854 There's honestly more nuance to Chaos than there is the Imperium (yes, even for characters like Fulgrim) and Del Toro would be great at visually capturing that nuance--the fact that there's less nuance to the Imperium because of the whole Space Catholicism just makes them less interesting, even as villains. That's just my take. I think Del Toro would be able to capture the fact that Chaos is a memetic mind-virus really, really well.

Why do you think that the emporer calls Gman "betrayer" because of imperium secundus? All sons rebel against their father (even if it is just a minor act). Making all betrayer at some level. *edit* The emporer fully expected Gman to build an empire. Can't remember which story, but when the emporer asked malcador why he couldn't see guilleman. Malcador frets about what gman is doing and the emporer asks "what do you think he would be doing?" As if the answer was obvious.
And when the emporer awakes, he will shout with all his might "Yaassss quueeennn!!!", He will get rid of all the primarcs except for the one that be come women
The best way they could reintegrate Cypher into the Dork Angels is to have him keep doing exactly what he's been doing until now. Infiltration, scouting, intel, making deals and popping up where you least expect it with an occasional report back to Lion.
I think chaos Gods work the opposite of how we view time travel. Like we are stuck on a linear timeline with many paths and we can influence the path but still kinda stuck on a line. So, the Eldar were stuck on a line to create a god and boom, on the material timeline, Slenesh is born. At that moment I believe the past was changed like a butterfly effect but backwards. So for a Chaos God to always be, someone must birth them in the future for that new God to effect the past. So sense we are watching time unfold linearly we as outside viewers don't know when this "birth" and rewriting happens.
When you think about it, the Emperor couldn't help but become stronger. The Chaos Gods increase their power by gaining followers and getting sacrifices. The souls of psykers are more powerful sacrifices than the souls of normal people. The Emperor has received a DAILY sacrifice of one thousand psykers for the past ten thousand years, with the number of daily sacrifices even increased in the past years. And he has trillions of followers, a lot more than the Chaos Gods
In the end you are talking about what Henry Cavill could play on screen and I always thought you could do a Eisenhorn series and start sprinkling in visions of the Yellow King from the start, working your way up to Bequin if the show is successful enough. This way Henry could play Valdor as is his wish AND his face could be on all the promo as Amazon will want.
Guilimans conversation with Big E reminds me of interacting with Parkinsons grandparent in the retirement home, just enough in there to almost recognize you but thinks you are your dad or uncle that they are mad at for something 20 years ago.
All these questions you are asking about the Emperor are answered in the first book I read, "Eisenhorn". When the Emperor talks to Eisenhorn, the voices of the Emperor debate each other about the result of a course of action. On that note, it surprises you that you are allowing GW the ability controls canon. Once it is in print, it becomes canon.
Hello there my friends I just had a thought while watching this and wanted to know everyone's thoughts on this idea. What if the more emotionless Side of the God Emperor becomes the Dark King and the more Emotional and good Side of the God Emperor becomes a Deity and the whole story pits the Two sides of the God Emperor against each other? So the Dark King story comes back into play because as mentioned in this video the God Emperor was about to have an ascension while fighting Hores what if the darker side of the Emperor does absorb the dark forces of the Worpe and becomes him?
Well that is the way that sanguinius said the emporor spoke to him when they first abalone baal. When he said son, he also said primarch, weapon, 9th , general, etc each word meant numerous words. I feel now it's so much harder for the emporer go gather himself it just doesn't come off as unfiltered.
I genuinely want Henry Cavil's show to be animated. There are so many things that animation is capable of that live action just can't touch. It's a shame how animation isn't given the respect it's due as a medium.
I would love to hear some more discussion about that wonderful piece of fanfic that was Rise of Tau. It covers a wonderful endgame timeline for most factions and characters in a very epic way.

To make banter death from others than the same two
Great stuff would be by chance happening upon a female fighter pilot who becomes their battle sister
...and so on.... yada.....of course much revealing about the old ones. Not everything but some cryptic why the Emperor and the old ones are working together.
More about all the phenomenal super stuff his power armor is made up off. And especially what it can do that is really cool.

The Emperor’s Tarot was first mentioned a zillion years ago in Inquisitor, the first book in the Jaq Draco series.
Damn, me too!
It’s like how the scene of the three Spider-Men just chatting about being Spider-Man was the best scene in No Way Home. Sometimes characters just chatting can be incredibly compelling and entertaining.

He has to pychicly draw himself back together which due to the circumstances of holding hell back with the force of his will alone isnt something that can be done in a reasonable time 😂
This is also why his conversation with guilliman was so wierd.
Love this viewpoint.

I don't have any idea of how this kind of 'foresight' is any different to 'having a goal'. 🤔

This goes back to Ian Watson's books and the Emperor's multi-mind
I assume this is correct.
I don’t see a disparity between the Sons/tools argument, necessarily. In the Christian theology, Jesus is Gods begotten son, yet he also came for a purpose and was the tool of Salvation.

Living saints appearing at those moments when things are at their most dire provide those “Deus ex-machina” plot devices that miraculously turn the tide, and boost the morale of those in battle.

@@SandmanofTerra Another poor soul gets sucked to Warhammer XD.
Another soul sacrificed to the golden throne
We're building to a cataclysmic event... The £1,000 Big E mini. It's not even 40k years away, maybe a decade or so
I swear, somwtimes it feels like Warhammer is a boutique board game that sometimes releases novels. No one is allowed to win, the needle budges but no one is ever eliminated.
Feels like ? It is exactly what warhammer is lol
Well, yeah? Eliminating factions is bad for the miniature selling business.
@@SrenHolm-k3o It needs to happen though since so many factions in 40k serve no narrative purpose, nor do they even sell that well so there isn't even a business reason to keep them around.
If there is no need for other races, then jump on the heresy train
If he's awakening he's gonna be in for a surprise seeing as his body is basically a rotten corpse at this point.
He's a perpetual though, so he'll heal once he's off the Golden Throne. That's one of the great ironies of 40k. The thing that everyone else believes is keeping him alive is actually the thing preventing him from healing.
@@Commodore22345 I think the custodes probably know this. But as Ems probably told them not fuck with his body they just leave him as he is.
@@Commodore22345I don't get It, didn't Horus wounded his soul?
@@alanalb1449 No, Horus basically did the equivilent of stabbing a normal person in the torso. Painful and debilitating, but for the Emperor, it would heal fine, probably within a day or two. Unfortunately, Between Chaos United and the constant seepage of demons through the webway / invasion of Terra, he didn't have the time to heal, so he just left his physical body to die while he powers the Astronomican. He's a perpetual, so even if his body is obliterated, he'll still come back IIRC. Even if that didn't work, he could still just reincarnate through the sheer power of his psychic might.

Imperial Civil War between Star-child and Corpse-God factions of the Imperium? Civil war amongst Chaos elements when Psykers forced to side with Chaos suddenly have the Star-child option? So many possibilities...
Corax was nearly immune to the Emperor's Glamour (he saw the real man, not the Master or Mankind)
The Emperor found it curious that Corax could remember his true face, Corax's ability to hide is just the inverse use of the Emperor's Glamour ability.
Throughout his books Corax can "conceal" or "amplify" his Primarch aura
Correction, he wasn't immune but he was resistant.
He saw someone closer than any other form, a man in emeralds. Still glorious, but much closer than a giant gold man.
I thought he only saw it breifly when the emps first steps out onto deliverance? But even then, thats more than almost anyone else.

If I was a primarch, at this point I might consider helping Abbaddon. Almost all his latest plans help the empire out enough to make up for the bad stuff.
Imagine if the Emperor wakes up but hes been "sleep walking" through the Void and is like "WTF have yall been doing for the last millennium!"
Have a movie of each Primarch conquering their respective worlds,
With the ending of each being the emperor’s arrival.
There’s your WCU phase one.
Emps being more then one being kind of fits that.

why would the legion of the damned leave behind a fire hawk banner then?
Do all the writers have sitdowns before a novel is written? Is there a roadmap for the future or is it made up as they go along? If there's a roadmap, what sort of latitude does each writer have to play with within the roadmap? Who approves each book?
I also wonder all these things aha
Arbiter Ian and Mira Manga do some writer interviews and they do have roadways IE here is where we are, here is where we are going, fill in the blanks and submit it for review.
@@SandmanofTerra how they are not doing interviews with people like you, I do not know. They don't have to reveal anything but they should open up to fans because it pulls them back in. :)
"Do all the writers have sitdowns before a novel is written?"
No.
Based take

Step 1: Tyranids attack the entire the galaxy, Xenos and all
Step 2: Necrons shit out a black hole or something idk, they’re the biggest counter to nids and they have got tier tech.
"MOSTURIZE ME!" - The Emperor's first words after awakening probably
Quipster yessss as a fan of BoB.. Gaunts Ghosts immediately struck that nerve and would be sooo damn good.

U know what so far this is my third video of yours i watch.. but damn bro you need to be one of the official voices on warhammer!
Very kind!
I agree that Warhammer 40,000 has an endpoint and I think it's important for GW to keep in mind knowing when to take a bow with the setting. The worst thing would be to watch it die without ceremony. Also I can picture an animated story of Loken in my mind's eye.
Yeah but money.
Even if in lore they make an end of the current storyline, they'll either then reboot or just keep going.
warhammer 50k would be bs

Boom. Another banger video. Video after video you just keep proving you're the best Warhammer 40k lore channel on RUclips!
The Emperor is definitely planing is escape or ascendance from the golden throne
Biggest mistake with Dawn of Fire was putting Nick Kyme in charge of it. He’s a prat.
about thoughts and prayer part: since the emperor's sensory output is so strong and potent, I'm fairly sure he'd be able to "detect" any prayers in his name, and since quantum entanglement is a thing, the souls he'd cut off from himself could still attain the same knowledge or awareness of said prayers.
I also want to throw in a few other names in with yours:
-lana wachowsk (the matrix films), For a dark and philosophical Dystopian Scifi Epic
-Luc Besson (the 5th element, Leon the professional), For Vibrant world building and engaging characters
-Oliver Stone (platoon, natural born killers) For a psychotically bloody and brutal war film
-Christopher Nolan (Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk) An exciting scifi blockbuster for the masses
-Francis Ford Coppola (apocalypse now, godfather, Dracula) A dark, character-driven, decent into madness
-Neil Blomkampf (District 9) A gritty and visually unique Sci-fi following the journeys of various characters- as they try to survive and come to terms with their own roles or beliefs.

To be fair Rowboat went full "forget about them their gone".
>"hahahaha lets cause some chaos!!!"
>accidentally awakens emperor
>"NOOO! NOT LIKE THAT!!"
And when the emporer awakes, he will shout with all his might
"Yaassss quueeennn!!!",
He will get rid of all the primarcs except for the one that be come women
Opening the great rift and the fall of cadia just charged him up like a supernova🔥 I love the concept of the legion of the damned☠️
The best way they could reintegrate Cypher into the Dork Angels is to have him keep doing exactly what he's been doing until now. Infiltration, scouting, intel, making deals and popping up where you least expect it with an occasional report back to Lion.
59:30 Skaven aesthetic emerging in Necromunda can't be a coincidence then
I think chaos Gods work the opposite of how we view time travel.
He loves Adeptus Sororitas doesn't he? Maybe he'll play a gender swapped Sister of Battle?
Someone better get the imperial coffee maker working again, or heads will roll when the Emperor reaches for a coffee to find none waiting.
