      To be fair, I don't listen to Cavalera's stuff expecting Warren Buffet-level political correctness.
      I listen to it expecting the sound of a million orcs crushing through cities and raining fire from the sky.
      I expect the hell beasts to chase and tear apart the weak, bringing the strong genes back to the surface of society.
      I expect black dragons to blot out the sky, as if to symbolize the summation of all the sins of mankind.

    • @MoonOvIce
      @MoonOvIce 3 года назад +54

      Well, mainstream metal yeah. But metal conitnued and even evolved more in the 90's actually. Power metal, black metal, death metal, gothic metal, industrial metal, symphonic metal, etc. All of them started or evolved into their modern versions in the 90's. Just that in the mainstream, grunge ruled the world (I still liked it).
      But even in the 80's most extreme metal wouldn't have made it into the mainstream, bands like Death, Morbid Angel and Slayer were not "mainstream" by the standards of glam and pop music. They got big in the 80's, but became mainstream later. Metallica and probably Megadeth were the only "mainstream" bands in the late 80's.

      When the first Soulfly album came out, he was playing a show & doing a signing with Incubus. The establishment stressed, ONLY Soulfly will be signed! You will not be allowed to get anything signed, if you bring other items...........But it's Max!
      After I got to him & he signed Soulfly, I brought out all my Sepultura covers. The place did not like this, but he told them, "It's cool", & waved them off.
      He signed all my album covers up to the end of Sepultura (Roots), & we talked the whole time.
      Such a sincere, down-to-earth guy! At the end, we shook hands & he thanked me! HE THANKED ME!!!
      I couldn't stop thanking him, but he stopped me to express his gratitude!
      It may sound stupid to some, but I will never forget this!!!! How nice he was, how appreciative of my support & most of all, how he made me feel like an equal..... Or maybe just that he conveyed that he understood how much it meant to me!!!
      I felt like I just got done meeting a new friend!
      AWESOME!!!!!!

    I love how so many metal musicians have had the hardest lives and vent their emotions through their music because it actually gives the music substance. You have rappers these days who claim they grew up rough but in reality they were pampered by both parents all their lives and were far more privileged than most metal musicians…

Lot of big names had invited to play in Indonesia by him such as Sepultura, Metallica, even a celebrity like Julia Roberts. He lives in an middle upper class neighbourhood and i live near to his house and it was like the biggest house in the neighbourhood. Somekind like an Pablo Escobar mansion like Max's said

    • @branlopgar
      @branlopgar 4 года назад +2

      @@francorafaelgrande Yes and no. Because Igor eventually made amends with Max and Gloria, and she is still managing his two bands (one of them being a band where Igor and Max play together). It was simply him preferring to go on his terms (because Max could do what Chuck Schuldiner did in 1990 after the snafu that was the Spiritual Healing tour. Firing everyone to keep Death's name and brand, but didn't). So it's kinda unfair to pin all the blame on Gloria.
