Miguel, your issue is definitely your tank. been wanting to tell you that months ago, but kept forgetting and we got some entertaining videos from it. LOL. That sock filter is getting dirty too fast indicating the lining of the tank has corroded and is starving the pump when the sock filter gets dirty. Change the tank you're good as golden. Ask me how i know.
yep I had these problems on my evo. Really showed up when i switched to E85. I did a few videos on trying to clean the tank but theres too many baffles. Just gotta put a new tank/fuel cell in
@@ArtInMotion881 I’m experiencing the same issues losing fuel pressure with a brand new tank on my eg civic. I’m running an eBay fpr so guessing it may be that. Totally different cars same issue but I’m guessing Miguel and I have something similar going on
Glad to see the 3000 getting the love it needs, it’ll be back on the road soon with you and your wonderful pit crew! 🙌❤
Hope to see it fixed soon man ! You deserve it after all this work
It’ll be worth it 🙏🏼
@@MiguelDsm 100% will ! This build is very unique. I love it.
The biggest problem with this platform is the negative feedback loop. There aren't many of these cars and they're expensive and hard to work on due to a lack of good knowledge bases, so not many people with a lot of experience work on them or make parts for them or build knowledge bases for them, so they are expensive and hard to work on, so experienced people don't work on them, so they're expensive to work on... etc etc
Stealth 316 and supercarengineering are really still the best resources for this platform and they're really old and don't reflect modern technology and understanding of efi systems.
Well said. I’m starting to realize the amount of money I’ve put into it just to get it back to running. Ridiculous compared to the Dsm and even Evo platform
Wtf kind of repeating gibberish is this lol
Humble OG55 here, own Starion n Vr4 for 30yrs+ from Chgo. I see your gas filter is filty. What dirtygas waterdown do u used?? Make sure to replace your rusted fuel filter, lines &cleaned checked finj etc. Also Checked all the emissions sensors too. Cleaned throttles sprayed cleaned if necessary. General diagnosed the car. I hope that will help.Good luck young Man.
i had to drop my fuel tank, recoat it, clean the lines, rebuild and clean the injectors. now it runs like a new car.
I’m gonna overhall my stealth and make it how I believe Mitsubishi should have . Along with my own touches. Complete overhaul
I agree with the gas tank. Flash a light down there to see if any rust buildup or debris is in there. If the new filter got dirty when you drove the car less than 100 miles or so then it’s most definitely the tank, if you checked the pressure, injectors, etc. first. Highly suggest checking the tank first tho for sure cause if that’s bad, everything else in the fuel system is gonna be bad
Working on it tomorrow! Tank is main priority
Miguel , las 2 vacuum lines tienen one way valves . Don't throw the old ones yet until you recover the original valves from them.
We got new check valves as well 👌🏼
I bought a 98 a few months back and my tank ended up having so much rust in it that it contaminated the whole fuel system. I just did the whole fuel system and it made it so much better. Still not running 100%. Ive been watching and we have damn near ever single same issue with the car haha
Fuel pressure should be held between the fuel pump, fuel lines, injectors and finally the regulator. If the fuel tank was venting technically the pressure on the lines should stay.
I’m stumped at this point. We’re looking over it tomorrow
There’s only 3 things that would cause a leak. A faulty pump, leaking injectors, or the regulator. The way the pressure drops almost immediately makes me think it’s the pump or regulator.
Ohh nahh DSM Miguel enjoying VTec 👀
I ended up pulling the tank on my stealth and washing it out. It wasn't as bad to do as I thought it would be. I'd recommend doing that if you suspect the fuel was bad.
What did you use to clean it?
Diesel?
This might help, my tank got rusty on my 3000gt and I had to drop it and acid treat and reseal, it clogged the strainer, fuel filter and injectors making it run all kinds of werid but I pulled them and cleaned the injectors replaced everything and it works great now!
subbed. love the 3s platform
still talking a lot getting lit hahaha dude its insane how so many ppl turned a blind eye to this car and now its some of the most views in general on channels lol id love nothing more to fly out some time and hang out and detail that thing to extremes! I can patch the wear in the seats almost not noticeable lol but damn the work to get it goin :p
If you're losing fuel pressure as soon as you turn off the car, and you have no visible leaks, and you've replaced the injectors and fuel pump, then it has to be the Fuel Pressure Regulator itself. Fuel tank has nothing to do with holding fuel pressure, that's all between the pump, the fuel lines, the fuel rail, the injectors and the FPR. The FPR's job is to hold fuel pressure in the rail and if the pressure is leaking down quickly with no external leaks, and you've replaced the Fuel pump and replaced the injectors, then the FPR has to be faulty.
You could also possibly have a fuel injector stuck open making fuel pressure drop i am unsure if rust particles can be easily cleaned out of them possibly injectors just need to be replaced along with that tank and a good fuel system flush to remove any remaining rust particles
Safe to assume the brake booster vacuum line is expensive due to the check valves that are installed
Check valves weren’t included unfortunately. Had to buy them separately
@@MiguelDsm frick that’s lame. I’m super curious to see what’s going on with your fuel system because my turbo eg civic is doing the same thing. Good luck brother!
Seeing all the challenges of a 6g72 must be why so many 3000GT's are running 4G63's instead
Sad yet true
It’s a swap I’m considering if the 6G gives out on me
The main issue is the lack of maintenance for these cars. Before they gained reputation they were extremely cheap to buy in and as such attracted a lot of owners that ran them down/didnt know the tricks/tech just wasnt there yet. The 6G72 is well loved by the forum gurus like Ray Pampena, the issue is having a healthy base and building outwards.
not really , there are no many mechanics that we can fix those cars. Thats the problem
Huh? There’s only a handful of 4G swapped 3S’s lmao. Most people start but never finish. Besides, the issues that Miguel is having is just old car issues. It sat for years. Can happen to any car.
you can get a kit to clean and seal your tank had the same problem with my eclipse kept blocking injectors
What kit?
Rostio Tank rust remover 1 Liter plus Tank-protection Emulsion Tank Sealing Set, Tank Rust Removal
Hello Miguel, my name is Derrick, I'm new to your channel and I think your content is great. I have a 1991 dodge stealth rt and for the last few months I've been looking for a engine for it,but everywhere I've checked to find an engine for it,has been a bust,or the businesses I've found were bogus. My question to you is can you give me some information on where I can purchase one. I would appreciate your input on this. I live in norcal.
New doesn’t mean fixed, I’ve put two brand new fuel pumps in mine and both had faulty check valves where it couldn’t build enough fuel pressure and fall off once you turn the car off
It’s on its third one
Went thru 3 floods with my 3000gt last week in order to get home and now it dont start. Hope its only the starter 😢
thank you for the video!!!
Thank you for watching!
Can you get some foldable tables so your not just laying parts on the grass??
If you change the fuel pump and there’s no leak from the lines, then it Hass to be an injector or the regulator itself. The fuel lines should not go anywhere else.
Hi Miguel, I hear you’re looking for a gas tank try Miller imports, in Kannapolis North Carolina they do ship
Stop using Teflon tape on an bulkheads.
Just use a Teflon washer on both ends like you should
I feel like those lines should be replaced too while you're doing the tank, if you haven't already.
maybe run a long hose from the rail to a white bucket with some sort of cloth strainer, have a battery connect to run the pump continuously till it fills the bucket and see what comes out
Thanks for the insight man. Working on it tomorrow with the guys
Definitely think ya k cleaning is worth doing
I take it a replacement tank isn’t easy to come by?
I mean… I’d like to buy her off of you, and finish the repairs and upgrades.
9:11 this guy is saying a "suck" FIAV valve will affect your boost.
Yoooooo bring it to REDLANEPERFORMANCE in floridaaa💪🏽
Good video
Thanks!
Hello! Static discharge! Ground yourself!
Where did you get that block off plate?
not sure if you have checked your fuel relay yet but could be causing some issues
believe its called the mfi relay
Maybe toss a 15 gallon fuel cell under there?? Lose the stock fuel tank.
Time to sell it and buy a '95 Cavalier 😭
What? 😂
Change the fuel tank!! Problem solved
15k 😂😂
Get rid of aeromotive FPR for a different one, I have and others have had issues with them. Another thing is that most fuel pump have an internal check valve in them. It could be possible for that valve to be damaged or stuck open, there's only one pump I know have that doesn't have an internal check valve and that's the Walbro 535 "Hellcat" pump. I'd probably try swapping the pump since they are pretty cheap, but definitely get rid with that FPR.
Also not sure if you should with a -AN line if you have one on the return side. Clamp the return line off the regulator then turn on the pump then back off. If it drops pressure it's the pump, if it doesn't drop it's the FPR.
I’ve got a 92 VR4. Just changed the fuel filter and got rusty fuel that dumped out of it. Got back to the tank and it was corroded along with a lot of sediment. Patching it up alongside ya, hoping we get these things resolved!
I've never seen a fiav stick open or closed, but you'd know it pretty easily. It's a sealed valve so if it was stuck open while you're boosting you'd just have a slightly larger throttle body. I would not recommend deleting it especially if you have no symptoms of a bad fiav. The car will run worse when cold basically.
I deleted the FIAV on my DSM. You just have to hold the throttle for 30 seconds when it's cold, then it idles fine. I've seen them fail and I just didn't want to deal with that in the future
i had the same isue with a rusted fuel tank, i saw your gasoline is orange just like mine it clogs my inyectos in 100meters of driving so i tossed it away and made my own aluminum fuel cell for the same amounth of gasoline and location as the oem one... its hard to get a 3000gt good shape fuel tank
Those phillips bits are sometimes p3 instead of p2. If you try and drive a p3 screw with a p2 bit on an impact driver it's easy to shatter the bit.
All pretty standard maintenance on a vr4...
Check the gas tank it might be rusty
🔥🔥
I think you could also have a clog or build up of that junk in the lines somewhere not allowing sufficient fuel to flow. Best bet is replacing the entire fuel system A to B and make sure it's not a ECU, electrical or tuning issue throwing your fuel trim off..
