They're called BLACKPINK to represent two different attitudes -- the pink being like pop-y music, being pretty and girly, etc. with the black being like hiphop, being tough and savage, etc. And I think Kill This Love really shows off both sides of that very well.

I agree with you I had heard of Kpop and BTS but I really didn't know what Kpop sounded like like untill I came across this song in 2019. I was blown away I had never heard os seen anything like this . It made me a BLINK, got me listerning to Blackpink but other Kpop artists too like Kard, Jessi and Bibi. BLACKPINK and BTS is the clear leaders that introduce Kpop to the west. Don't know why the fandoms fight because the two groups are both good. BTS has their ARMY and BLACKPINK has their BLINKS but for some reason there is a lot of back and forth on who's better. But it shouldn't matter because of their efforts it really made the road easier for other kpop groups to have an international exposure.
For BLACKPINK songs to look into would be "DDU DU DDU DU", "How You Like That", "Playing with Fire", "Whistle", "Boombayah" and then after watching those to watch "Shut Down." The reason that I say that is because "Shut Down" was the title track on their last album and the video actual has easter eggs from all of these videos. Some were more obvious than others but even "Kill This Love" was referenced in that video which I missed at first until someone pointed it out to me.
If you want to learn more about the training process than you can watch BLACKPINK little sister group BABYMONSTER that is set to debut supposedly this month. They are from the same company/agency that produce BLACKPINK and they have a series "The Last Evaluation" that shows the last two months of evaluations before picking the members for debut. You will see how young they are and be amazed. If you don't want to watch the series or at least record a reaction to it you can record your reactions to their performances which is taken from their evaluations to get an idea of what kind of vocal talent that we are talking about.
Other groups to keep you eye on is XG. Technically not a kpop group but is Japanese girls trained in the kpop training style that sing/rap in English. They have just come out with a lot of music recently "Grl Gvng" (Girl Gang), "TGIF", and "New Dance" but you might want to start with their earlier releases like "Shooting Star", "Mascara", or "Tippy Toes": The group is amazing and so far for me has not missed with any of their songs (much like BLACKPINK as far as the songs don't miss).

I don't think you can go wrong with reacting to most of their M/V, visually they are incredible. Their songs are amazing, I probably only came across 1 or 2 songs that I wasn't as catchy as the rest but I still would listen to them. The solos they do are amazing as well. It's only been 2 months since I first listened to them and I'm hooked.

I can't add a lot to what's already been written. Kpop is a whole different world. The girls trained 12-14 hours a day, seven days a week, for Years. No trainee is allowed to debut until they are polished professionals. Blackpink debuted late 2016 and within three months they were already legends. Since you wanted a live performance, one of my favorites is the 2016 Melon Music Awards where they performed "Whistle" and "Playing with Fire." They will absolutely blow you away.
One of the things to note about BP is their producer/songwriter, Teddy Park, spent extensive time growing up in Southern California, where he soaked up hip-hop and other musical styles. Another thing is that all the girls have very different musical backgrounds and have blended those in the music. Kpop really is a hybred of world styles, which you'll discover. If you want to know more about BP and how they came to be, Netflix has an excellent documentary, "Blackpink: Light Up the Sky" which really goes into depth about the grueling training they went through, and how it forged them both into an unbreakable friendship and the most unique girl group in history. Since the girls have been photographed and recorded nearly all their lives, they're totally at ease with being filmed and part of the joy of Blackpink is watching the girls interact with each other. I highly recommend you watch this even if you don't react to it.
As to what to watch, check out BP's "little sisters" group, Babymonster. They have a pre-debut song, "Dream," which shows some of their background, and is powerful. Another group which is burning the charts is New Jeans, which is much more soft jazz/R&B inflected. "Attention" simply amazes everyone for being so different from the Banger Kpop style.
Lastly, BP's latest song, "The Girls" is actually from their new online game and features their cartoon avatars. Don't let this stop you. It's another Banger with their voices and choreography by BP's own choreographers. It's not only a great song, but kind of a sazzy "Fuck You" to the people hating on them. It also features Lisa doing one of the most rapid-fire raps you'll ever hear. BP is coming in loud and making it clear you don't mess with the girls...

Kpop is inspired by a really popular korean group in the 90's called seo taji and the boyz composed by friend who are inspired by american hip hop and wanted to bring it to korea they really blew up and sold 1 millions with their debut album. Hey, KPOP has types of genres within them, for example blackpink focusses more on hiphop (black side) and pop (pink side), but you also have other groups for example dreamcatcher which is EDM mixed with rock and metal. I'm sure many have told you, but you should react to babymonster last evaluation series. Babymonster is blackpink's sister groups and the series focuses on the training and elimination of the trainees.

He is Korean-American rapper, songwriter, and Record Producer. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Park moved to the United States with his family as a young child. When he was 17 years old, Park and his friend Danny flew to South Korea during summer vacation to audition for YG Entertainment and debuted with the group 1TYM. For so many years after that, he became an in-house producer for YG Entertainment and co-founded The Black Label in 2016. And he made the Blackpink stardom ✨️
