To answer Mrs Coaches question, Lisas cup was full of cereal. During the Tomb Raider explosion there was no CGI. All 4 of the Pinks were absolutely covered in debris and dust. This can be seen in "the making of" video, which also confirms your theory of Rosie and Jisoo un-aliving themselves

What makes BP a distinctive group is that each member has a unique musical style and image, the public can easily identify and like one more than the other, but the synergy What they achieve is perfect.

I used to see some explaination about the hidden message in the M/V like Jennie was the slave of her love and she wore the maid outfit, she has a broken wing on her tiara. Lisa kicked the door which has the word heaven over it and she closed it. Crying Rosé drove the car with Ego lisence plate to chase after herself and when she sang with her angelic voice the relics was savage and she was floating like an angel. Jisoo in the reflection that you can see she was in an eye and the head piece she had, looked like blood spread in the eye, she was the Goddess of Moon eclipsing the Sun. The explosion scene has the head of Goddess of love, Aphrodite on the ground. It was really fun to see lots of explanations and things we might miss. And if you see behind the scenes, they are adorable and hard working kids.
Hi , speaking of the explosion, it was indeed a real explosion filmed in slow motion. If you guys check out the behind the scene video, you can see that the girls were all covered in dust in the set after the explosion. And also, this song, which came out in 2019, was later featured in Nicholas Cage's 2022 movie (among other songs) "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent"

Thanks to KILL THIS LOVE I discovered BLACKPINK❤ that's why it is a very special song for me, in August 2019 its thumbnail on RUclips caught my attention and when I saw the video it was love at first sight, it was also love at first sight for ROSÉ Her beautiful voice captivated me from the beginning.

Those explosion are real. If u watch closely, that scene is the only time where the girls wearing In-ears to protect them from the sound.

All the scenes mean the same thing as the song title: "Kill this love." When Rosé runs over herself, she is killing love, and so is Jisoo when she points the arrow at herself. They don't kill themselves but the love they carry inside. The heart-shaped bear trap is also another allegory to killing love. Then, as the music transforms into a military march, the dancers dressed as soldiers come out and do the final dance to kill love. It goes without saying that the love they want to kill is a toxic love that does not allow them to function as people. It's a good message for young girls today who are exposed to toxic relationships.
The behind-the-scenes video is very curious because it shows how they made the explosion. It's fun.

So... as you've noticed, Blackpink's songs contain these two sides (the "sweeter" side and the "badass" side) and it's basically the definition of what Blackpink is.
Black is the powerful, hip hop, girlcrush (Jennie and Lisa) and Pink is the more delicate and feminine side. (Rosé, Jisoo).
But, of course, they all end up showing these two sides in the songs and on stage at some point, without much distinction. ❤
Btw behind the scene is really fun this one, especially explosion scence. The Rose' car plate is "Ego", that why they have to kill.

Coach you really nailed the part when you mentioned how Jisoo and Rosé were seemingly trying to “end” themselves with the arrow and the car. The song is basically saying that in order to “kill this love” the girls have to “kill” the version of themselves that are weak and vulnerable to be strong in the end and leave the relationship
It's a very interesting way to put out that message, and we enjoyed it, as usual. Blackpink never misses.
In the "behind the scenes" you can see the explosion debris falling on the ladies (harmlessly, but spectacularly)
C and Mrs C .. the message is .. they hate themselves for putting so much time and effort into a relationship/ love that isn't good for them and has changed them from who they were. They have to kill the love within themselves for their partner and the toxic relationship.
*FYI:* We had news that we are getting a Christmas album from *Rosé* and *Jennie* will release a Christmas cover but asked Blinks for suggestions.

BLACKPINK have "making film" for every title track. If you watch it, you will be amazed at some of the scenes, And you will see the pink side of all 4 members.
June 15th 2019. That was the day I saw this Video. It was also my 1st day of discovering Blackpink. On that day, it had already reached approx 290 Million views. It came out in April of that year. America 1st saw it performed live at Coachella (their 1st USA appearance) Some details. Jennie is holding a Crystal heart. It also is sitting on a Table in the Shut Down: MV. Jisoo's scene is resembling a bloodshot eye. The licence plate on Rosie's car is "EGO". This video was banned on one Korean TV network, because she was not wearing a seatbelt..lol (The car wasn't moving) The exploding statue is Aphrodite (the goddess of Love) I went to work the next day raving about this group and were met by "Blackpink, who are they?" They know now!

FYI, the explosion was real and the behind the scenes video shows them completely covered in dust after the explosion and assistants rushing to brush off all of the dust. Really funny scene, but tells you what they are willing to do for a cinematic shot.
You have to also watch 2NE1 (first YG girl group) their senior sisters. You can see some similarities because BP was formed to their likeness. 2NE1 debuted in 2009 with their song "Fire" which have two MV versions (Space and Street ver.) and Blackpink debuted in 2016.
for the "don't know what to do" (best bside on this EP or maybe even their best one) you guys should watch the inkigayo performance! the choreo to this song is very different from what the pinks usually do and it's just suuuuuper gorgeous so please if not the inkigayo stage then find one with good camera work! 😭
The Inkigayo performance is on the Blackpink official channel and will feature a fan chant that is a unique feature of K pop and shouldn't be missed.

👉👈The second song on the album is *DONT KNOW WATH TO DO,* I recommend you watch the Dance practice, it is beautiful, the song does not have a music video but it does have Dance practice, also the live version in Tokyo dome and the color coded lyrics version.

The song is about getting rid of "loves", or addictions, weaknesses, and the like that are harming one, to be a better, healthier, stronger person.
If you re-watch it from this understanding, it makes a lot more sense.

This song, to me, is about trying to Kill This Love in ourselves. Rose and Jisoo, literally killing the side of themselves that Loves. Rose crying while she does it, showing her pain "driving" her to do it. Jisoo coldly stopping herself dead from loving. Awesome video!

The members of Blackpink have stated that "Kill this Love" is about toxic relationships and finding the strength to end these relationships. Jennie is addicted to the highs of new relationships, Lisa is only interested in the strongest one feeling that must be equivalent to real love. Rose and Jisoo want to end that weak part of them that cannot end a toxic relationship that is clearly hurtful to them.

Oh yeah, the members were absolutely, devastatingly encased in dust and debris after that explosion!
EDIT: Green screen. They have used it. (Rose sitting on the globe in Whistle. The limo in On the Ground uses CGI. I think there's one more I'm forgetting.) But yes, like 99% practical. The most impressive, to me, is How You Like That. The amount of WORK that went into that video before the members even arrived on set is STAGGERING!
The license plate on the car Rosé is driving says "Ego". My take is that they are basically killing the love within themselves to sort of get out of the pain after a break-up (or possibly during a break-up). Don't know what the cereal is about though, I think it's just cool.
What's great about Blackpink and sets them above the rest is obvious with talent, looks, choreography, set design(no green screen) camera work, editing n infusion of different music styles( based on hip hop and R&B) is the message they'll deliver about women empowerment. They use a lot of American metaphors n symbolism. How? Because their producer Teddy Parks is a Korean American rapper from Los Angeles who had to sign a "rap" contract with YG entertainment in S Korea because he couldn't get one in LA, because he wasn't African American. This song is about a toxic and abusive relationships, that is physical and or mental. And that you must kill your weaker self and become this vibrant, confidant n strong woman.
Btw, "How you like that" song is similar except in a failed relationship message that you gave 110% effort, but you were cheated on and dumped. You had to realize that it wasn't you that was at fault, but you boyfriend who gave up on a beautiful n vivacious woman. Failed relationships can be depressing and destructive.

The explosion is real and so that giant bear trap too. There is behind the scene of this mv to show they never use green screen. Also They can’t put real brands on the cereals Or they gonna get a copy right strike 😂. For youtuber they just get banned after 3 strikes but for them they get fines in hundreds thousands of dollars for copy right. If you see a brand on them then it just means they are brand ambassador of the brand

This is kind of what I said in the babymonster reaction. I like rap. Mainly older stuff. But I think K-pop does a great job of blending it in with amazing vocals which makes non rap fans like it. A whole song of Lisa rapping like the cereal verse you might not love. But with the vocals it just works together.

Kill this love is about toxic love that start to ruining their conscience, so they destroyed their weak side and tougher their ego. Thats portray in Rosé and Jisoo scenes. The car that Rosé driving had Ego writiten on the plate number. Her Ego trying to destroy her weak vulnerable side. Basically this song means dont endulge in toxic love/relationship bc there's no happy ending in it. Love urself before you love someone else.

About the meaning of the song, the song is about a toxic love that, before it kills you, you have to kill it first so KILL THIS LOVE! About the M/V, everything you see is real, no green screen, at the start Jennie is really lowered down from above with steel cables, the explosion at 3:31 is real and the big heart shaped trap is real!

You asked about the meaning of Rose running herself over and Jisoo shooting herself with an arrow. There is a RUclips Video called "British Priest Reacts to Blackpink Kill This Love", where they discuss the Freudian themes that you referenced, where there is a type of tug of war between different parts of a person's psyche (Id/pleasure seeking side, SuperEgo/logical side, and the Ego/mechanism being used to negotiate between the SuperEgo and the Id, which was the car (note the license plate "Ego" and the bow and arrow). The chorus also shows the head of a statute, which is that of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Hedonistic Love in Greek Mythology, as opposed to emotional unselfish love (the Judeo/Christian version). Indicating the logical end to such a hedonistic love (i.e., broken and tragic).
Very deep meanings in some of these videos. It's likely a person could watch them many times and still see something new.

BlackPink saved YG in 2018. Psy had left the company, Winner weren't the monster rookies anymore and had cooled off in popularity thanks to a long gap between comebacks, Ikon was respected musically but never performed up to expectations commercially, the same goes for Epik High but the biggest shot to their wallet was BigBang having to do their mandatory military service. They were technically the biggest group in the world before they had to do military service coming off a sold out world tour. Not only did YG lose their top group but their 2 top solo artist because they were also members of BigBang with G dragon's amazing Kwon ji Yong and Taeyang's all killer no filler White Night albums both topping the billboard world album charts as a goodbye for fans. Everyone thought YG was going to struggle without them but Du-Du Du takes off and BlackPink become international superstars. They even got big in America. Now YG is in crisis again but this time they need BabyMonster or Treasure to hit big because it's looking like BlackPink are leaving YG.

I think the message they are delivering here is when people are in very bad and toxic relationships and if there is no joy happiness and secure future guarantee left it's better to walk out of that relationship than suffer more to do that we have to kill the love inside us for that toxic partners......I guess that's what Rosie's and Jisoo's scenes imply here.

Explosions, dust, fire, standing in cold water while having water rained on you outside in the winter. etc. - these girls go through some stuff to make these videos. I see a lot of folk recommending the behind the scenes, and they're very fun and interesting, but I know that you guys have a lot on your plate, so that might be for a later time. I told you about the ex-CEO, Yang, well, he just wrapped up his legal issues with a year of probation for intimidating a witness in a drug case against him. He is not a good guy. I teased about no BP, and it's nice to see more of them, but you're mixing it up well, don't let people pressure you into going off script, not that I think that Coach is a stranger to pressure. Be well, both of you.

If two people love each other but have no real idea how to go about getting along together as a couple, they are going to have massive problems. That is for mentally and emotionally STABLE people.
What happens if an emotionally damaged or mentally damaged person (or God forbid, a Narcissist), is in a relationship with a comparatively innocent person? The innocent person gives every part of themselves while the narcissist is a jerk and hurts the innocent one at every turn.
It is time to break up but the innocent person is going to have to hurt themselves to do it. They may even feel like they are numb afterward, like their heart has been ripped out, they can't connect with anybody. Healing time varies for different people, it's never the same. They might not even trust themselves after having fallen for 'the wrong one'...just a MESS-AND-A-HALF.

Mr. Coach, can I just say that only few and far between reactors are as quick as you are my friend! You catch so much on a first viewing and I promise you it isn’t easy with BP videos! Mrs. Coach said ‘wow’ right about where I did near the end…and I tell you I would have joined band a thousand years ago in high school if it looked like the last scenes here!🥁 Everyone else is explaining the major themes of the song very nicely so I don’t need to.
