      An original favorite of my friends and family: "jack could have survived rose" (obviously a play on a jack rose)
      1.5 oz Applejack
      .5 oz licor 43
      .25 oz allspice dram
      .5 oz cranberry juice
      .75 oz lemon juice
      2x dashes of ango
      2x dashes of a nut bitters
      Shaken and served up in a coupe.

    In Louisville I learned an old fashioned recipe called the "sweater weather Old Fashioned". 2 oz bourbon/rye, .5 oz maple syrup, half bar spoon of vanilla bean paste (think...dime size), ango bitters. Stir, pour over a rock, garnish/stir with cinnamon stick. It's incredible.

    Love smokey drinks. Came up with a the 'Intercontinental SMOKEY old fashioned': 1oz Tallisker 10yr, 1oz Woodford, 1 tsp raw sugar, 2 shakes whiskey barrel bitters and stir down over ice. Smoke rocks with dried thyme sprig in smoking chamber (can do 3 x drinks at a time in a large chamber). Strain over an Anders cube and garnish with Orange zested and cherry marinaded in Rye.With a Havana... but smoking is carcinogenic...disclaimer.

      Been planning for this exact thing since I stumbled on a cocktail smoking kit earlier in the year. It came with cherry, apple, and mesquite woods to start. But then my small torch quit, so now I need to replace it. I was inspired by a local cocktail creation called “The Smoking Gun”. Basically an old fashioned, with two major enhancements. The Bulleitt bourbon was washed with browned butter first. Second was that it was served in a mason jar, with the smoke piped in at the finish, then sealed in with a screw down lid. You then had the option to either simply remove the lid, making for a lighter smoke flavor in the drink, or by shaking it first, infusing a heavier smoke profile. Really fun, and delicious to boot!

    Your smoked maple old fashioned reminds me of the old fashioned riff I like to make at home! 2 oz bourbon, 1/4 oz maple syrup, 1/4 oz falernum, 2 dashes of angostura, a dash of whatever other bitters I'm feeling, orange oil overtop (optional), and a dried lime wheel for garnish 😄

    • @BrandonNevermind
      @BrandonNevermind Месяц назад

      (I use a home-dried lime wheel, and if you sip this one slowly, the lime slowly rehydrates and seeps lime flavor into the drink over time, making the end of the drink have a much more tiki kinda vibe)

  • @bobschiller6435
    @bobschiller6435 2 месяца назад

    I'm not a black currant fan (plus I didn't want to go buy another bottle), so I tried the Bourbon Renewal with Creme de Mure instead and it was just okay. Because I have a bottle of Starlight bourbon finished in apricot brandy barrels, I then tried it with Apricot liqueur and used Orange bitters. A much better variation.

    Something I would like to see is a video about cocktails for wheated bourbons. I have a daughter and some friends who don't like the rye-forward bourbons as much. I know that they are wrong , but would be interested in ideas that play off the different flavor notes of a Makers Mark 46 or Larceny.

I have been a fan of yours the entire time, watching all your videos, growing my amateur mixology hobby, all due to you. I subbed Bokamaro from North Shore Distillery here in Chicagoland for the Amaro Nonino. It’s a little lighter, they distill it from bok choy, you should give it a try Anders! I make a modified Old Fashioned for the fall/winter months. I use a spiced semi-rich turbinado syrup infused with cinnamon, elderberry, and cardamom, and smoked bitters from a local whiskey distillery. Since I can’t smoke my cocktails just yet, the bitters help give that smokey flavor while balancing the sweetness. 👌
    Edit: can’t wait to try some of these!

    Been a fan for quite awhile now, but this is a first time comment... there was a more relaxed air about this video than usual. All are entertaining and I think your videos outmatch other mixology channels, no question, so keep up the good work, but this one was like you were in my home and we were mixing drinks.
    As for a good go-to fall drink... maybe try your hand at this one. Use the following ingredients: Angels Envy, Port, St. Germain, Black Walnut Bitters, Top with Ginger beer. I won't reveal my ratios because I'd be interested in seeing you make a video on what you think the rations should be.
    Also, what did you decide for port? Tawny or Ruby? Lastly, what garnish would you use to serve this cocktail best?

  • @Scottyj1211
    @Scottyj1211 Месяц назад +1

    Hey Anders! Would you ever consider including alternatives to liqueurs in your videos/descriptions, if you’re using a bottle that not everyone might have? I’d love to make the Fallback but I don’t have any Applejack and wonder if there’s a liqueur I’d have in my simple home bar that would do!

  • @Nasosdag

    I was SO impressed back when you presented the smoked maple OF in a video of its own. I've said it many times, if I were forced to drink only cocktail for the rest of my life, it would be the OF and its riffs. That one would be one of my top choices.
    Seeing you make seasonal, especially autumn, cocktails always gives me a warm feeling. Making and drinking the cocktails gives me an even warmer feeling. I love Fall, even if it is melancholic.
    Αnd what is there to say about JM's creations... Ι have mixed me a Bourbon Renewal plenny of times. Always hits the spot.

      Can do a toffee appletini with the apple sours. Arguably the butterscotch schnapps may work there too. 30ml caramel vodka (ideally keep in freezer), 30ml apple sours, shake with apple juice and ice, garnish with cinnamon. Simple, quick, tasty. You can experiment with the schnapps stuff on that basis.

    OK, let's see. I think the recipes are good and tasty, but it is very difficult to have all those rare ingredients in home like the Bénédictine D.O.M. or the Jules Theuriet Crème de Cassis de Dijon or the Amaro Nonino and the Peychaud’s Bitters. So i will love you to prepare cocktails with more "realistic" ingredients so we can prepare them at home... No todos tenemos una barra tan amplia y con tantos licores diferentes. EN fin, soy un gran fan de tu canal y he aprendido mucho. Thanks Anders.

    "... alternative to throwing whiskey in your apple cider." *me mid-sip of whiskey in apple cider*
    I don't have the Nonino stuff, but I do have half a bottle of SNAP that is herby and woody and might do the trick in a pinch. The Fall Back is the one I'm going to try out on my next evening. Though, the bourbon and cassis is calling my name pretty loudly and I do have both of those, as well as fresh lemons on hand.... Both? Both is good.

    Any chance you could make some Gin based fall cocktails? Wiskey is tough for me but love some of the fall scents, spices, and flavors
