ZULU DAWN is more historically accurate than ZULU, from small details like pouring tea over white helmets to the actual events surrounding the fighting at Isandlwana. It's a great film.

      Total annihilation💪
i think if LORD CHELMSFORD bring in the whole force. just like they did in THE BATTLE OF ULUNDI
be it BULL HORN STRATEGY that the ZULUS had.
it was NO EFFECT at all.
      thats why THE BRITISH won.

The final track is very eerie. Such a great soundtrack, it captures the setting perfectly and it sums up the longest day in the empires history. It's when crealock says to him about rorkes drift - the instrumental sequence throughout that final scene was superb

The scenes of carnage left by the zulus and the fact that as Chelmsford was observing the damage done the battle of rokes drift was happening. The reason the British lost was it was poor leadership and tactics. Major Russell's rockets were completely exposed and away from the firing lines. Durnford horse were on the extreme left and some how ended on the right handsome of the camp. Steward smiths artillery was well positioned but with no barricades round the camp the zulus made ground quicker which forced the British to break their lines and run back through the tents. The British never lost a fight behind barricades. Which is why rorkes drift was a victory for the British.

The "River Crossing" theme (about 2:50) captures perfectly a 19th century colonial army marching into enemy territory.

This is one of the Un-John Barry score I've heard from John Barry. It sounds so different from anything I'd heard from him and it's great. I love how unabashedly patriotic and gung-ho it sounds. There's a sense of the epic and light-hearted in it.

Quentin Tarantino used an excerpt from this soundtrack in Inglourious Basterds in the scene toward the end when the film is being shown in the theatre. I've read that it was his way of paying tribute to Zulu Dawn.

Die menschlichen Stimmen klingen eher abendländisch als afrikanisch. Aber die ganze Aufführung ist echt spannend und großartig mit farbenprächtigen Töne aller Instrumente. Die Trommelschläge klingen besonders eindrucksvoll. Genialer Komponist/Dirigent!

One of Elmer Bern steins best ever, dare say better than magnificent seven or great escape. The its balance British marching sounds and african charging sounds, and you can feel the assagi going into flesh!

O.K. - I just got to first time listen to this film score; "Zulu Dawn"...and, I like it for it pretty much sounds like the motion pictures being released in the mid 1970's onto the 1980's. Let's just say to describe the movies of that era...they were "grand in music" and becoming more and more reliant on "special effects" (but, sadly enough, not "true acting ability"). Some of you music/cinema older fans miss the great acting of the 1930's - 1960's, I bet.
As to this film score...kind of up beat in feeling. It sure isn't the 1964 released movie, "Zulu" sound of John Barry's style (which I like still). 2/3's through the score, I get that John Williams "Star Wars" feel and the "Harry Potter" / "Narnia" movie type endings. Oh well...literally all the film composers followed some the "leaders" of the time [Williams & Goldsmith] were those "leaders", I think.
Oh...this movie...did I ever see it? No. I wonder why since I liked "Zulu"?
