Starting and performing his life long as Jazz-pianist and orchestra leader, he obviously is a brilliant composer of film music and really brings some depth to films such as Cromwell and Khartoum. But judge yourself!
The film drew many parallels between Cromwell and Charles. Though they stood on opposite sides of just about everything, they were both alike in that they deeply believed that their cause was righteous. In another time and another place, they might've become friends.

@@particleboy3584 Alec Guinness was remarkably good as Charles I. There was a few little issues with how he played Charles, but overall it's fairly solid performance. The BBC made a drama series in 1984 called By the Sword Divided which was about the English Civil War and two families from either side of the divide. It's worth having a watch of it. I think you can find it on You Tube. Cromwell had solid production design as well. But it wasn't fully accurate to the historical story.
Cromwell, or the character of the film? If you read Cromwell's real history, you will see that it is completely different than this romantization and heroification in the film. 😛

Hello Toon Boy, I am very happy to read your requests, as they are wonderful choices! I have them all, as far as I know. However a true Friedhofer fan would be happy to hear the original music, anyway and maybe we should get to this gem, instead of the (however great) re-recording? Fred
