@@thomascampbell4730 You’re right. Zulu was a great film of an actual historical event, marking Michael Caine’s 1964 screen debut, with a stirring musical score by John Barry, a veteran of the James Bond films. I suspect like a number of other films which portrayed blacks as primitives, Zulu won’t be aired anytime soon in this day and age, though the film intended to show them (and did in fact show them) as proud warriors.

Two of the Dukes children had roles in this movie. Patrick and the little girl is his daughter Aissa. I love the scene where he holds her and she is playing with his scarf and looking so comfortable in his arms. No wonder, how sweet to be playing on the set with her father! I fell in love with Stuart Whitman in this movie. He was so handsome and dashing. He went on to star in Cimarron Strip which to this day is one of the best Western TV shows.

Elmer was the master - reinventing the style several times over - and each time a treat. But don't hesitate to checkout his comrades also from the East who also helped to define the West: Jerome Moross with his iconic theme (and score) for 'The Big Country' (and the T.V. series 'wagon Train'), John Williams lovely 'The Rare Breed', and Jerry Goldsmith, whose string of pastiche Western scores is the mid to late 60s is highlighted most notably by 'Hour of the Gun' and 'Rio Lobo'.

Great score and movie! While hanging by their wrists, Whitman says to Wayne: "You should think of a new plan Jake, this one didn't work out so well." Wayne responds, "the hell it didn't, we found the hideout didn't we?" Whitman says, "Yeah, I wonder if they know how much trouble they're in."

When you think how prolific and diverse Bernstein was over his career, it's extremely impressive. From a western like the Comancheros to his orchestral work on the Heavy Metal soundtrack or films like Ghostbusters. One thing they all have in common, is that Bernstein's contributions provide the emotional and atmospherical impact that is, for all of them, definitive.

      True.
And yet, Bernstein's range was quite remarkable - from his breakthrough score for Cecil B. DeMille's "The Ten Commandments" (1956) and his jazzy score for Otto Preminger's "The Man with the Golden Arm" (1956), to his wistful and nostalgic Coplandesque score for Robert Mulligan's "To Kill a Mockingbird" (1962) and his fun score (with some truly moving cues) for Ida Lupino's "The Trouble with Angels" (1966).

EU GOSTARIA DE ME COMUNICAR COM ALGUÉM QUE SEJA UM ESPERT EM BANG BANG ANTIGOS . MAS TEM QUE SER UM PERITO NO ASSUNTO , COMO ERA O ZICO COM A BOLA . PORQUE EU PROCURO UMA MÚSICA DE FAROESTE CONHECIDISSIMA . EU TENHO DESENAS DE MÚSICAS DE BANG BANG , MAS ESTA MÚSICA EU NÃO ENCONTRO NEM POR UM DECRETO . AQUELE QUE FOR UM EXÍMIO CONHEDOR DE BANG BANG ANTIGO , VAI DIZER NA LATA , DE QUAL FILME É ESTA MÚSICA . ELA PARECE UM POUCO COM A TRILHA SONORA ORIGINAL DO BANG BANG ANTIGO , 1960 , SETE HOMENS E UM DESTINO .
UM PEDAÇO DESTA MÚSICA , TOCA BEM BAIXINHO NA NOVELA ANTIGA OS IRMÃOS CORAGENS . ELA TOCA NA CENA EM QUE O JOÃO ( TARCISIO MEIRA ) ESTÁ PRESO DENTRO DO TREM PELO DELEGADO ( CARLOS EDUARDO DOLABELA ) ESTA MÚSICA TOCA NO MOMENTO QUE O BANDO DO JOÃO , ESTA DE CAVALOS E PULAM NO TREM , E O NILTON GONSAVES DA O GRITO DE GUERRA IIIIIIIIRRRRAAAA , AÍ ENTRA ESTA MÚSICA . MAS SÓ UM PEDAÇO DELA E BAIXO .

Interesting how a rhythmic motivation unifies the whole soundtrack here. Proof is the use of the main rhythmic figure in the final cadence. You see here an example of good using of ostinato. Influences of Stravinsky - the music composed from a rhythmic motivation, in true nietzschian sense - are present in this whole music.

Nope, Comancheros. My favorite western. Have watched it multiple times, own it. Stuart Whitman just passed away a couple of weeks ago in his nineties. What a star in this movie.

Definitely from the Comancheros and although we lost Stuart Whitman in 2020, another of the co-stars, Nehemiah Persoff is still going strong at 100 years of age.
