- In this video you’ll learn how to step by step install BBK long-tube headers with off road mid pipes onto a 5.7 HEMI. This is my first time touching or installing any type of exhaust onto the car myself. I had help from some friends and the on site mechanic. You can save a lot of money doing it yourself and it’s really not hard, just tedious. Please like, share, and subscribe. More videos to come and more horsepower to gain. Piece of advice doing these is to thread the bolt in the hole on the slots for the header and hasket and sit the header and hasket on the bolt and you can swivel the header back and forth for the second hole

I've been told never use the gaskets that come with the headers. Always get your original equipment gaskets. And the is a socket made just for your o2 sensor.
I couldn’t use that socket because of the angle the 02 is at and as long as you use gasket maker or copper seal you shouldn’t have any problems. I didn’t have any leaks or anything after using the gaskets.
The part you said about it being tedious doing it on the ground hit home for me since my truck has a 5/8 drop lmao

@@IsThatGeneral I got BBK long tube headers back in 2016 I got a leak and could not figure out what it was from, turned out the bolts BBK sent with the headers had backed out! the labor to fix it is insane for the hemi engine , It happened again a few months back and I learned about locking header bolts. . I hope everyone reads this and invests in locking header bolts! They are ALOT cheaper than replacing gaskets and labor . I got quoted 600 bucks per bank for labor.

Jason RumbleBee trucks are waaay better to install exhaust and headers on because they have way more room. You can install the headers from where the tires and finder liner are

Bro how did you tighten up the middle header bolts? Bottom side or top? Them joints are hard af to get to on the passenger side.
ModCityK they are hard to get too. we did a little bit of everything bro. We stuck our ratchet up there and felt for the bolt to tighten it up. We also had the on site mechanic help us out. He had this bendable long extension where he used it to tighten up some of the bolts also.
Any update on the headers ? Looking to get me a pair of these i just bought a 2016 ram , but I've read many horror stories on the shorty version of these headers...
I’ve ran the BBK long tubes for about 2-3 years. Never had an problem with them. Currently rebuilding the motor so they’re off the engine right now. I’m buying a ram later this year and plan on going with the BBK shorty headers on the ram. I haven’t heard anything bad about their shorty headers.

Man it’s so damn hard to hear you but I love the is video. I am actually very confused on what mid pipe do I need to put on my car for JBA long tube headers that is on its way. Please assist . It’s 3/4 long tube headers . I have 2018 charger 345 Daytona. And I am looking for catback and not catless
Thanks. Mid pipe replace your cats and match up with the longtubes. You can go with mid pipe that have cats or get off road mid pipes like me(no cats). You can’t install long tubes if you don’t have the matching mid pipes because the long tubes won’t bolt up to your exhaust. The long tubes bolt up to the mid pipe and the mid pipe bolt up to your exhaust.
Got a question but can you get another mid pipe and put it in there with the long tube headers ?

When i contacted BBK, they said they don’t off catless mids. Did you go with another brand or did they recently stop selling off-road mids?
Everything I have is from BBK. They probably stop making them after the RPM act and everything.
How did you get too the two up middle bolts on the passenger side I can’t get my arm or tool anywhere near them
You have to feel for them first then put your bit on then and take them off. That’s how I did it.

@@bandcshow11d6 you’re going to have to get help then. The only way to put them back on without taking the heads off is to put the gasket on the header with the bolts already through the header and put the header on the cylinder head while hand threading the bolts through, then you can use a tool to tighten them up and fasten the rest of the bolts.
@@IsThatGeneral ok let me give you more details. I used studs instead of bolts. So I got my gasket in place I put my headers on was able to use an extension and a wobble socket to get to most of the nuts on. These are some cheap headers from China lol maybe the header tubes are in different places than other brands. I got the driver side header on. But the top two middle studs I can’t access very well. Did you use an extension and wobble socket to get to them? If so then I have no idea what I’m going to do. Maybe drop the engine cradle down lol
@@bandcshow11d6 I did use an extension and adapter socket. You can going from the top then to get to those last two bolts or also drop the cradle

Darion Davis it’ll be easier to install headers on a ram. You have direct access from the fenders

800-1000 and that’s if you take them the parts and pay for labor. Shops make money off overcharging people for parts plus installation. I was quoted $3000 for a shop to buy, install kooks headers for me. That’s waaaaay too much

What year is the Ram? I have a 2012 1500 quad cab 5.7 and I’m looking into getting arh headers. Do you have to move any lines for install?
Joe Charlin sorry man this is a 2007 Dodge Charger, but the procedure should be the same for your Dodge Ram and no I didn’t have to move any lines just had to remove the 02 sensors

Did your long tube headers have the extra metal on the passnger side to reach the egr line that goes to your headers ? I wnted to install mine but the headers dident cover the egr hole on the chlinder head what can i do can i still install it without it bei covered
I think you’re talking about the extra long bolt that comes in the pack. If you don’t have it you can do find a 10mm bolt(I think it’s 10mm) and try to fill in that hole.
Why isn’t the long bolt fitting in the hole you said the long bolt goes in? And ideas
So some of my studs broke off half way inside the cylinder head before the install so I couldn’t install that one bolt.

The ports are square on the 2007 but i got oval gaskets is it ok to use the oval gaskets?

Your car will be totally different with headers and other mods before a tune. Then with a 93 or e85 tune you’ll fully unleash it
Forgot to add this part sorry but with the BBK headers also you’ll see 30-35hp just by bolting them on and about 10 more after a tune

Yes you have to buy matching mid pipes if you don’t you’ll have to have some fabricated.

@@rawcummins1665 you might have to call for them. You’re about the 10th person that said they’re not on the site anymore and ever since epa starting going after tuners and shops a few years ago that’s when BBK took them off the website. Give BBK a call.

theproduct456 would’ve literally taken me 3 hours, but we fought with the heat shields on the exhaust manifolds for 2 hours. The entire install took 6 hours.

No it’s a bolt on part. Just replace your exhaust manifolds with the headers and install the new mid pipe

Where did you find the catless mid pipes ?
Everything is from BBK. I think they stop selling them because of the TPM act and all that chaos. You’re like the third person that had told me they can’t find the mid pipe anymore.

@@swipedat I’m not sure, you could find some same sized straight pipe and then cut the cats off the mid pipe and have someone or yourself weld the straight pipe onto the mid pipe replacing the cats.

Yes you have to get matching mid pipe, BUT this is how it works. The headers go down to the matching mid pipe(you can choose high flow cats mid pipes or mid pipes without cats), which replaces your OEM cats, and then mid pipe connects to your straight pipe. My Dodge Charger is straigt piped.

@@345toni BBK. I think you have to call to order them now. Ever since the EPA tried shutting down the car community a few years ago BBK stop listing the catless mid pipe on their website.

Fredy Velasco Ortega Jr. that tune was a Diablosport 93 oct tune. When you buy performance chips they come with pre tunes already that you can install on your car yourself
HEMIUP besides this. When should a tune be done? If I open up my whole exhaust,how do I know what tune to set on it?
Fredy Velasco Ortega Jr. a tune should be applied to your car when have decent mods like full bolt on. You don’t need a tune if you only get exhaust, but if you get a brand new exhaust system plus long tube headers and that’s all you want to do then get a tune. A tune just reprograms the entire car’s computer to run with the new setup instead of running like it has a stock set up and also there’s many way to do a tune. You can get a dyno tune or a performance chip tune. The best tune to get is a dyno tune. That’s what I’m getting next when I do the big install.

How long did this end up taking you
Dilyn Puckett took about 6-7hours. Would’ve took me 3-4 hours, but I had to fight with my heat shields for about 2 hours to get them off the OEM manifolds. It’s a very easy job tbh. It was the first time I ever touched my exhaust system
Mine were a B!tch they took about 8 hrs I got stainless works BUT taking them off was hard my mid pipe got stuck I had to cut welds on my exhaust cause my y pipe & muffler lined up directly next to each other not to mention the bold that snapped off in my head that took 3hr to drill & get out 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️

My car did the same thing ( sparked ) and now my car doesn’t want to start up, just hear one click
You probably shorted the starter. Might have to buy a new one. Try taping onto the starter while having someone crank up the car. If it cranks then it’s the starter.

It doesn’t but you’ll get optimum performance with a tune.
If you get the 02 extensions and no codes you dont need one, but youre leaving A LOT of power on the table without one
