I'm 61 and still hoping... Played Star C and still haven't been able to finish a single one mission... Crash, not saving, one time saved status but my ship was floating 7 km away from me in space... So yea hope this will work.
May this single player campaign be an immense success. It will greatly benefit CIG and Star Citizen!

Backed in 2013 and turning 58 this year.
UEE Naval High Command just told me I failed the eye exam to even man a turret.
I backed this right near the start, early enough to get a 'Golden Ticket' and be number 10 244, and I started saving for a new PC because I thought I would get one good enough to play. That was september 2012, and I'm now on my 3rd new PC since then....
I always hoped Squadron 42 would eventually be released, and due to the nature of the game, I thought surely they could put out a single player campaign and use even a handful of older assets, and then release performance and bug-related patches only.
When the full SQ42 cinematic trailer came out a couple years back, with all the recognisable actors, I was absolutely sure that even if the game itself ran and/or played badly, at least the story itself would be something.
And then I thought, if that doesn't happen, at least there will be a RUclips video comprising of all the cutscenes for SQ42, so at the very least we get to see the story.
At this point, I'm not even holding out hope for anything, I just wish I could see what could have been with a fantasy-football list of Sci-Fi actors that I never dreamed would end up acting in this game.

The vanduul ships redesigns are gorgeous. So glad to see them become sleek high tech looking fighters instead of the excessively spiky saturday morning cartoon villain designs they used to be.
Yes, they look terrifying yet beautiful at the same time.
tbh I'll miss the fiery paintjob on my Glaive though, it was a very fun look that I hope we'll get the option for on the new model

Not only ships a lot of mechanics and tech are locked behind SQ42 for the sake of not spoiling the story. The release of sq42 will bring so much to SC

Star Citizen for me comes with a memory.
My father 70 years old (passed away by cancer) started to cry when i showed him my connie flying towards the rotating spacestation, playing the non existing game. It reminded him to stanley kubrick's space odessey 2001. He was so baffled.... i still enjoy that moment when i start the game that doesnt exist for a simple flyby. For me that makes it easy to wait. They progress slowly, but still move forward.

@@TimTams_64 Pretty sure none of those Vanduul ships are flyable by humans. The in lore reason why we have two that we can fly is that they are actually replicas made by Esperia with modified cockpits and controls to fit humans.
@@Ender240sxS13 main lore reason is : vanduul like to go Kaboom with they ship and they are way taller too. other reason is some may not have interior as not needed in SQ42
@@TimTams_64 They already said that 1 : Only human will be a playable race, and 2 : most alien ship will not be sold OR flyable. Those we have flyable are (according to lore) alien we have treaties with (banu, tevarin) or those that have been stolen (glaive , blade and scythe). So don't really expect to fly, much less own, one of those awesome ships.
@@MonteKristof The second and third of those are most likely a reworked Glaive and Scythe to fit the style of the other Vanduul ships. The 4th is probably the Stinger.

@@SpaceTomato No, RUclips supports the format; it's the content creators who sometimes add bars (letterboxes) to the videos. As long as the video uploaded is in 21:9, it will display in full, without bars or borders, on a 21:9 monitor.
Omg you're right. I was so distracted by the visuals I didn't even notice this lol. Hope this means that from now on all their 21:9 videos will be actual 21:9 and not 16:9 with black bars...
@@Nicrosyl They support the format, but not fully, which is what I was saying. If you look on my channel I have videos at that format (including one I just uploaded) that use that format, but RUclips does not allow an end screen to be applied. This turns people off of using the format and encourages them to fake it with black bars.

You’d think in the 3 years since this trailer they would have advanced a lot, but if I’ve learned anything in my time with Star citizen it’s that 3 years may as well be 3 days to them.

@@fmartingorb for me it gets easier since we hear more often about development times of other games and since this is the game of all games it should have the right to be at least as long + a couple more, i dont like it either, but thats just how it is and i for me think they do a better job each year they are in wich at least gives me hope i dont wait for nothing.

I get the feeling that the ship at 1:48 is a new look for the Scythe, and 1:44 is a new look for the Blade, and if I'm correct, I'm completely on board...
@Joe Beans - I assumed it must be another ship looking that similar, but it is VERY similar. It would be facepalm if they changed the Blade's cockpit, voiding the effort put into it, to make it look EVEN MORE similar to the other ships. That submarine-like front bubble looks bad, in my opinion.

I did not mean an “if”. I am sure they will eventually release -it is just that it has been 7 years instead of 2 and the release date is not confirmed? I would have lowered the scope a bit
zartheus well lower the scope and the market is plastered with competition. Go big or go home... 7 years for two games... Beyond good and evil is just the MMO part and they are in their 11th year... And that is Ubisoft. CDPR will take 5 (that is what they say) for a single player story with tons of foundational tech in place. If CR, CiG and the backers would have not gone for the current scope, with 2 years of dev the game would have been DOA
Looks like they are keeping S42 under tight wraps while showing off with SC. That teaser definitely showed more game assets then what they have been showing in their SC demos. Still hyped going into 2020, its gonna be a great year.
end 2020 is squadron42 beta, i think 1.0 is more like middle - end 2021 and the final star citizen about christmas 2022+

The universe that is being built by everyone on the SQ42 and SC teams is fantastic. Even though development is ongoing I hope they are able to take a step back and appreciate their own creativity... because it's really cool to watch as an outsider.
Feels like the visual style across the 2017 demo, 2018 teaser, 2019 teaser and the current SC alpha are drastically different. I wonder how the finished SQ42 will look like.
Maybe if they stop redesigning the visual feel they might even finish it.
A lot of games often use "in engine" but end up changing a bit from what it actually ends up at launch. But as a backer we all know that this IS in engine and how amazing this all actually is. I'm glad they keep as silent as they can with S42. Makes it all the more exciting when something like this comes up.
And... this video quality is not very very good, we all know that it's wayyy better in game :D
I think a lot of games that show case stuff as in engine really might be in engine. That is in engine until they have to dumb it down to run on consoles.

One thing though, would have liked to have seen this published in 4k to really allow us to see it in it's full glory, watching a 1080p Visual Teaser on a 4k screen may look decent but it doesn't have the detail that the game actually has
Yeah, it's really puzzling, this being specifically a visual thing, a graphics and content teaser, and it is well-known that 1080 data rate on RUclips is bad compared to higher resolutions.
And this plays in WEBM by default, which is bad at fades and such, i.e. with the type of content in this video, so the low data rate is twice as problematic.
@@Dowlphin it sucks donkey balls, yt compression is so bad... i have a lot of troubles, even with quicktime 264.h 60fps uploads that are just a zooming picture and some effects... yt also cant handle downscaled 4k to 1080p you need 1to1 1080p or 4k material and upload... sry bad english

@NOWhERE - I haven't noticed the issues you mention. I did some tests a while ago and found that RUclips's own downscale worked just as well as if I did it before upload.
What needs to be considered is that, at least with small channels, RUclips does a quick-and-dirty encode first and once a video reaches a certain view count (I think it's 10K), it does a high-quality encode. This might not apply to resolutions above 1080 though. Hard to say, since the bitrate there is better anyway.
What seems to yield better 1080 results from my experience is to upload in higher than 1080, probably because then RUclips chooses WEBM instead of starting with MP4. This issue might even plague commercial channels.
Content with little movement or changes should not even make quality issues noticeable. Tricky is material with little contrast.

@@Dowlphin interesting, i try a lot out and i still have big issues if i use 4k material and rendering in 1080p. just watch my last upload and you see some kind of artefact-ish things and trange lags every 3-4 seconds..... i havent found out yet what is the problem.

This was linked as 'progress' in the July 2020 update email. It's video from 2019. While it looks very nice, I've been waiting for this game for 7 years so the only 'progress' I care about now is a date for when it will be actually released.

Nothing wrong with that, buddy. I'm looking forward to both. Squadron 42 to feel like a hotshot pilot and SC to be just one of the many freelancers roaming about space. The good news is I expect Mark Hamil to be just as much of a badass as he was in Wing Commander, though likely in a different role. He can't really play the hotshot maverick this go-around.

I'm more of a multiplayer guy, but S42 looks amazing. This gave me the same feeling as when I first crash-landed on Halo Installation 04 back in the day.
Ectropy Arts if you haven’t heard about it yet, check out Star Citizen. It’s the multiplayer MMO component to squadron 42. If you’re more into multiplayer stuff, you should check it out

@@charlesballiet7074 In my experience the multiplayer is the most stable it's ever been, I haven't experienced any of the commonly mentioned major bugs from the previous versions and it's looking like a stable full game is on its way.
@@Sieztt really your not getting frame drops, buggy collisions/hit detection. Random ejections from the cockpit and missions that bug out and are incompleteable?
When the release version of this finally comes out there are going to be so many people eating crow. I backed this in 2012. 8 years of development is ridiculous for a game, but like Chris Roberts said, "I don't want to build a game. I want to build a universe."

@@retrowrath9374 you can literally play through any of the missions/ do some mining/ cargo in a day and you will have seen it all, there really isn't much "game" in the alpha yet. and what there is still feels very yanky and basic

Looking back at how incredible this was and honestly still is...gives me hope. They've had two more years worth of development and the roadmap updates for it have been positive. I think this will be a phenomenal experience.
yeah they essentially have odin system from sq42 which like a pyro mixed of some stanton vibes. who knows maybe sq42 had 2-4 star systems to explore and add to PU later.

What do you need to hold the hotas for? That is why we invented tape, so old people could play games properly with their feeble hands etc. Same reason we got massive tv's, so it is easy for them to see.

And you know what's crazy?.. We SC backers and followers know that all of that is real within the game engine and they are actually doing those visuals.
Im really waiting for Sq42 to become the most visually outstanding game from this generation.
I’d rather say that what we can see in SQ42 are next-gen graphics at least at the level of a Halo Infinite.

@@nadukkerensky392 Content creator, org leader and backer since 2015. FPS, ground vehicle, air and space combat and the flight model is unfun for me but I'm happy you're impressed. :) Plenty of time before SQ42 release in 2021.
@@nadukkerensky392 its literally like medieval lancing. I have star citizen but got a refund after 20 days because it became an unplayable mess. Where the only mission that was possible to complete was the package delivery missions. Can you tell me if they have finally included the vtol button on the key mapping screen. Because even 2 months after vtol was added it was still not there (played in free week)
@@Mr_Higgs the AI and Ship 'jousting' is not nearly as bad, the ship AI is much better and more aggressive now in 3.8. Also the flight model feels quite good currently (Not that more work cant be done). Its all about controlling your speed and distance. Try to fight in the 100-300m/s range, any faster and you end up just chasing each other and turns more into the 'lancing'. Also yes there is a VTOL keybind, its 'J' by default but can be set to a Hotas as well. Sounds like you played near 3.5 or so. The flight model was quite bad around then, the "Hovermode" has been completely reworked and no longer has that 'helicopter feel' that didnt quite fit

I’ve been waiting for this game for so long
the game started development with 4 developers working from a home. they opened their 1st 2 professional studio in early 2014. i never expected the game will be finished in 3-4 years. GTA V was 6 years in development with over 1,000 developers and established studios. there's no way Star Citizen would be finished before 5 years of development.
