Mind Blown. This was such an incredible cinematic/walkthrough of Squadron 42. I'm hyped.
For real mind blown.. too much to process. What a citizencon! What a day to be a Star Citizen!
My jaw is still somewhere on the floor. I wasn't hyped for SQ42 that much, but now I'm 100% there :D
Is this the first time we seen boats that is really cool I hope they put all kinds of boats in the game even combat boats and small naval ships

Bot comment.
I’ll give them credit, their ship designers are some of the best ever.
yes because SC is a family thing: what you can see in this trailer has been done by the 3rd generation of game designers (the grand sons of the original game designers that began working on the game). They improve over generations

The intro with the fleet and the bagpipes... chills
Battlestar Galactica vibes
The entire scene has a feel akin to the beginning of Revenge of the Sith. Chills to be sure.

@@RonJeremy514 thats the persistant universe for SQ42(or in general the initial kickstarter) always was intended as a Wing commander successor
Imagine the kilrathi from wing commander in star citizen
@davidvangerner7241
IIRC the Star Citizen 'verse is a soft reboot of Wing Commander like 2003 Battlestar Galactica.
So the events of the Wing Commander in 2300s generally happened, although some things got changed up.
I do know that the Kilrathi were almost wiped out in between then and now by Kilrah getting glassed, though.
If CIG can deliver what they are showing here, this will be a new milestone in Gaming. I have never seen something even close to what I have just seen in this video.
And immediately after an ea exec will be saying
CIG DID THIS WITH DONATED MONEY IN RENTED SERVERS!
while Microsoft is busy coding, fingerprinting, and scanning through the doors to their vault before they walk in take out a box blow the dust off it and open it to reveal a hard drive labeled "freelancer source code"
CIG has never shown any content that is not what's in their game. So yes, it will be for sure. And if you look toward pure gameplay sequence, captured live (like in the idris, or stations) you see little fps drop, so that it is, a real gameplay demo, with no added vfx
@@Arkios366 The fps drops are what worries me

@@BeAsTMoDE528 - This isn't true. I bought both Squadron 42 and Star Citizen.
I dont know how they did it, but they managed to take a sci fi opening scene (the most common one, small ships fly into fleet) and by introducing bag pipes of all things, made it easily one, if not the, most epic 20 seconds of sci fi ship badassary.

This absolutely demolished my expectations. It has been A LOT of time since a game gave me this kind of feeling. The goosebumps. To say very nice job is an understatement. I will admit I was sceptical but this has delivered far more than I expected.
When they presented this video I felt like I was seen an intricate movie with a lot of little unconnected histories ( the Con itself ) and then... the conclusion were all is revealed. I realized that they can release all the content they just promised to PU because it's already in Squadron 42. So, yes, after 10 years of project I dropped a tear, just a little one.

You better believe it. This game bottlenecked Star Citizen for years because the development was undergoing in complete secrecy using most of the development resources. And after this video and the announcement that Squadron is feature complete, the stuff you see in this vid started to make its way into the Persistent Universe, aka Star Citizen. The UI, the animations, Graphics API, even the ships are now added over there. The fantastic character creator that is showcased throughout this video, i just tested last evening in the internal test server and it looks and feels EXACTLY like in this vid. So yeah, this game is on the way, we expect the big release date announcement to happen in October, and internal leak suggest that CIG is targeting Q1 2025 with release.

This gave me the same goosebumps when I first played EVE Online and watched "I was there!"
I am so proud of you guys and it looks amazing!! I cannot wait to play it
Proud to be a backer since 2014. This has been amazing journey for the ages!
We Held The Line!
Me too, I never doubted they could pull this off. Maybe I doubted the wait time lol.
4:34 ahah I thought they rendered SOL SYSTEM, EARTH at sq42 for a sec :D.
I'm pretty sure at Citizencon 2953 they were applauding for that too ahah.
Very cool transitioning to their new Manchester Office!
I can't believe I'm saying this, I'm now more hyped to try this than SC PU with Replication Layer for Pyro! ♥
Go Chris and team Go! This Citizencon was legendary!
You are very close to the finishing line for sq42 now. Seeing you crying made me tear up too!
We have all been waiting for this, probably Mark Hamil , Gillian Anderson and the others too! ahah
We did, me and my friends where like "WTFFFFF NO WAYYYYYYYYYYY" and then realized and laughed at ourselves 🤣
Total blue balls
hahahaha it happened to me too 🤣🤣
i was a moment too : WAAAIT SOOOOL ALREADY YEAH WAIT..... :D
yea but goes to show you we couldnt tell the difference thats how great the tech is lol
It's so convenient and nice to have Korean subtitles.
ZERO risk of that Cutlass spotting them at 6:16.. everyone knows you cant see anything below the horizon line in a Cutty! 😅 #MEGAMFDS
Seeing Chris Roberts gets emotional at the end when everyone was standing and clapping and cheering was an incredible thing to see. I’m happy his vision is finally becoming a reality. SQ42 and Star Citizen are truly next level pieces of technology and I’m excited to be alive in an era to witness its development and implementation. Thank you Chris Roberts and everyone who is involved in this at CIG.
Yeah, imagine being a human lightning rod for ten years lol. I was glad to see him looking healthy and well at CitCon. We all want the best for Roberts and for the dream.
As someone who loved Wing Commander back in the day this is the stuff of dreams!!
Same, man. That was one of my very first games. I can't wait to play this.
I still use the same callsign "fry" from wing commander 1 in 1994 :) i feel same
We're the "old men" now, from the Terran Confederation, now the United Empire of Earth.
Long live the Concordia!
WHEN THEY CUT AWAY TO MANCHESTER IN THIER HQ I THOUGHT IT WAS ACTUALLY THE GAME THIS IS INSANE!!!!!!!!!! CANT EVEN TELL WHATS REAL ANYMORE
This game is what every space game wants to be LITERALLY
this is way more than i ever thought sq42 would be, genuinely blown away
What a difference for the facial animation cinematic comparisons. Absolutely amazing!
I missed this, that feeling of game DEVs actually surprising you and exceeding your expectations, it just never happens any more.
The world desperately needs people like this. I genuinely can not wait to play this game.
This must be the best thing that has ever been. My expectations - shattered. Thank you for this.
o7
Starfield is a joke
They showed you short gameplays - not the cinematics - and you think this will come out soon? Wrong! xD
We all held the line - every single one of us!
Not all of us. I'm a civvie. I'll wait till the reviews drop & make my decision then. 😌
I am proud to support the team, and it brings tears of joy to see all that the team has accomplished. Thanks for never giving up!
I’m another original backer that had given up. I had decided that the main Star Citizen game had become so big that Squadron 42 wasn’t gonna happen. I’m happy to see what you have here. It looks incredible.
That 26 minute video was more exciting than 26 hours of Starfield.
Why do people need to tear down other games to lift up another? One of them is an RPG, they are not similar aside from being set in space
@@irecordwithaphone1856 Because this is what Starfield claimed to be ? A single player rpg with space flight/fight, travel between planets to and from planets and fps. At least, this is how I expected starfield to be from the past few years I followed the development...
@@irecordwithaphone1856Memes
@@Hippida Starfield is pretty much exactly what it claimed to be. If you expected something else, that's on you.
@@irecordwithaphone1856 It's less the need to utilize the contrast principle, and more of an objective observation in terms of software engineering. To what extent players will be able to travel in SQ42, we don't know yet. However, if Star Citizen's object permanence is anything to go by, I assume player freedom will exceed that of Starfield. A game so mired in loading screens, you'd think the design document was created for an early 2010s game, like Skyrim. Except there were no loading screens during exploration, outside of entering caves, and that's the problem. Skyrim was designed with the Creation Engine's limitations in mind. Starfield was not, serving only to highlight the Creation Engine's limitations post-launch. Many were hoping for seamless transitions when entering a planets atmosphere from space, the ability to seamlessly explore a planet, accessible interiors within larger structure without disruptions of any kind, and, at the very least, better facial animations. Additionally, Bethesda fans love BGS games for their focus on fun, engaging exploration. Without it, you're left with Bethesda's weakest skillsets, like quest design, world building, dialogue options, combat, narrative directions, and so on. All these weak links are supposed to serve the exploration, which lacks momentum due to the sheer amount of loading screens you'll have to navigate. Not to mention the lack of engagement, considering the lifeless nature of randomly generated "planets", making hand crafted locations a rarity in a sea of redundancy. In Skyrim, you'd stumble across a ruin, or an abandoned mine, transitioning from a single loading screen to the inside. Maybe it contained a story, or some mystery pertaining to its original inhabitants, with riches lying at the end of it all. In Starfield, you get close enough to a "planet", pull up the fast-travel menu, select to land on a specific _tile,_ go through a loading screen, watch a cutscene of your ship automatically landing on the planet for you, and you spend the next however long _on foot,_ until finally reaching the boundary of that tile. At which point you'll be forced to venture back into your ship, watch a cutscene of your ship taking off automatically, wait through another loading screen, go back to the fast-travel menu in space, select another tile, and repeat the process all over again. If that sounds monotonous, that's because, mechanically speaking, it quite literally is.
I am here to hold the line!
As am I! o7
--m---------------------m--
when I saw the manchester vista I was blown away how realistic it was lmao
That got many of us.
And so many people doubted this game coming to fruition... Look at what CIG has achieved. I am super excited to see what SC and SQ42 brings to the table as it progresses further down the road to completion. United in purpose.
The sheer amount of Battlestar Galactica love in those cinematics was insane!
hahahah i thought the same thing!!!
Rewatching the 2004 series now. My top sci-fi show ever
Incredible! We held the line.
this is actually an impressive degree of quality that they are creating
I'm so happy that I've been a part of Star Citizen/Squadron 42 since 2014 :)
I signed up and paid up 11 years ago. Been in the hospital three times this year so hoping the game comes out in 2024 as I can only hold the line for so long haha :). It looks incredible!!
I literally shed a tear watching this. Thank you CIG, thank you Chris Roberts, and everyone else who backed this project.
My father got Star Citizen and also this game for me. He recently passed from a heart attack, and he said he was waiting on playing both SC and SQ42 until release and or until a German translation. Now, localisations and SQ42 are becoming a thing. It feels like a bad joke, but SQ42 and SC have become something more than a game for me. Something... sentimental. Thanks Chris for finally making my dreams come true.
o7, see you in the 'verse. It's been a great journey to this point so far!

Hold the Line for him, then play the game for him. o7
Sorry for your loss, I know we all will be in tears. After released of Sq42
Glad to have pledged. I can wait forever. I held the line 😄
forever granted
Happy to see them make quantitative progress. "What did I do during development stage? I gave more than a little money, and queued... :)"
this looks miles better than anything i saw in my 50 hours of Starfield
Star citizen videos are much better than any silly game for sure.
this is a actual "10 years (or whatever) in the making" unlike Starfield which is a lazy mod of skyrim with a dry story and characters.
@@Spillow-C it's even funnier when you know that Starfield took 8 years to make...
@@KaptifLaDistillerie i dont believe that honestly, you dont feel that when you play the game, they probably make it in 3-4 years or something, or 8 with a lot of stops and problems during development, anyway its just a Todd lie
The timing of this is hilarious lol, almost like "Ok Bethesda had their chance. Now here's a real space game."
When I backed this 11 years ago I thought Squadron 42 was just going to be another chapter in the wing commander genre but this looks like it is going to be so much more. Can't wait to get my hands on it :)
You will probably be dead, probably your grandchildren will play it who knows.
It's not a chapter, it's the start of a whole new franchaise.
"The impossible, or nothing."
Yours obstinately
Star Citizen
This is made by a combination of people who worked on Freelancer and Wing Commander. I remember when this initiative was announced. Elite Dangerous was barely launched, I was still studying for my university degree. Now, I have moved cities had 3 different careers, got in love, married her 8 years later, and explored the galaxy together in Elite for 4 years, now mourning its slow death.
It's about time, and it seems the waiting was worth it.
What a transition between the music at 1:15 and the music at 2:15, such an effortless flow and every sliver of melody is instantly memorable. Insane work Pedro and Geoff
it's probably not done by Pedro, there's another composer working on SQ42
Geoff Zanelli
Thanks@@FKProds Don't know how I never knew that the games have different composers
@@Zentrify Both Pedro and Geoff worked on this trailer
The mockup at 2:15 is really bad though... I'm sure they can afford the samples, but that solo wind sounded fake a f :(
It has been a long road with many ups and downs, but we are finally here. I'm very glad you all chose to take your time and do it right, it's been an amazing journey these 8 years I have followed the game and I cannot express enough my gratitude and amazement at what you have all been able to achieve! Looking forward to seeing the features pass over to Star Citizen and getting my hands on Squadron 42 when it finishes its last phases.
Best Citizencon to date! To all the devs and event organizers, have some well deserved rest, and thank you for holding the line! o7
Years ago people were critizing this project because of its immense scope and now they have what seems like such a delieverable product 10 years later, with that said hopefully RSI isnt raising the bar too high for themselves with what experience this could possibly be. Im not expecting this to be the best thing or "worth the wait", but i can for for sure see these 10 years and millions of dollers paying off for the backers(and hopefully investors) of bother Squadron 42 and Star Citizen. Its just insane to see the SC being worked up from conceptual soup into a more realized thing, and now Squadron 42 as well which seems like its decently cohesive narritive with good NavSpec/ Fps gameplay (perosnal opinion but SC ships feel way better then anything ive played before.).
In cinematic, I can saw at least five famous actors' faces.
I held the line and have been ridiculed for it. I knew this day would come and I'm blown away. Congrats Chris and the team. How much you cared came across. See you all in the verse.
Well... You can say that when you ACTUALLY play it. Right now, you watched a cinematic. Kinda like you did a decade ago.
Ummmm don't celebrate too early bud. I've been here since 2015.....when it releases, we party!! Til then.... 🙏 🤫
Its great that people are happy but why celebrate and say we held the line if the game isn't in your hands, feels like a endless cycle
