You only write something like this when somebody makes you feel a way that nobody before has been able to leading up to it. They may overplay Wonderwall but it is a masterpiece of songwriting. Noel should be proud of this one.
I always loved this song...I loved it when it was new and I was a kid, and I love it now as a guitarist because it sounds so so good and it's SOOOO easy to play that any beginner can get it in a few minutes, which makes them love the instrument more and wanna keep playing.
I disagree about the ease of play in terms of actually sounding like the recording, and I don't mean because of multiple guitars. I have never actually heard a guitarist play this song properly. It isn't at all to do with the complexity of the chords (because outside of the Dsus4/F#, they are relatively easy chords for beginners). The issue is that they never follow the strum pattern properly. It is always a cheapened version of the song.
Yes you are right so there is a complexity in it in a way because any transcriptions I’ve listened to say on Musicnotes or MuseScore always simplify the intro and if you listen carefully to the intro it’s anything but simple it might just be down to richness of the guitar recording or the subtlety of the chord changes
i love how at 1:30 and again at 2:40 just as the chorus starts, there's some electric guitar to transition, it sounds sweet, listen carefully, and you'll hear it, Noel is a freakin' genious

Just hammer-on and pull off the D and G strings while playing the chord progression. You're only playing 3 chords, and the anchor notes don't change, so it's much, much easier than it sounds. The tricky part is getting the timing right and getting the nuance of the pull-offs. It's a classic case of simple notes, but fantastic technique. If that doesn't help let me know and I will make a video.
this sounds indeed so good, im trying to play this right now, its quite easy.. like picking, but you cant hear it that well in the orginal. it sounds really awesome! :D
this actually is the guitar part for wonderwall. the "variations" you hear were just harder to hear before because of the liams vocals and the other instruments
@Fonezzz You have a capo? You need one to play it right. It's actually two guitars overdubbed. If you can find the "blues box" for the chords (can't remember what fret it is offhand, because I don't remember which fret the capo is on), then all you need to do is play the first part as a rhythm, and one the second guitar ring out the extra string on the D chord and play on the blues riff. You can approximate it with one guitar, although it's really, really difficult to do that.
This is why Noel is on record.as saying he wishes he could.have re-produced it - cos in the original u cant hear the glory of that arpeggio in the bridge whatsoever.
perfect! i know all the individual parts of this but i need this to put it into reference for the song lol (like how many times the chorus repeats, ect)
@FatTonyCologino Use the standard chord progression for that section of the song, and instead of strumming, pluck the strings with your finger or the pick. (I prefer the pick.) When you strike the D chord, you can move your pinky finger to the top string, just above the chord position, and pick to get that ringing-out sound on those two high notes. To do it right, you have to move your fingers DURING the chords, which takes some getting used to, but it's a lot of fun. Good luck.
@KinanEldari It is the original. Listen to the SACD version of What's the story album, where you can hear more clearly it is the same riff on this song.
These are the original acoustic guitar tracks, stripped down and isolated from the rest of the tracks on the song. You can actually faintly hear the arpeggios during the prechorus parts on the original tune if you listen carefully. I remember in highschool going to an old friend's house and playing him this part and he was baffled that I could play it. Lol
people who dislike oasis always use wonderwall as a classic example of how 'mundane' and simple their music is. firstly, their missing the point and the great art of simplicity and simply great fucking tunes. and also, they're fucking ignorant cos the bit you just pointed out is a wonderful example of the playing involved that people always overlook. noel gallagher is a genius!

My favourite song, thanks for this.
This is why Noel is on record.as saying he wishes he could.have re-produced it - cos in the original u cant hear the glory of that arpeggio in the bridge whatsoever.
perfect! i know all the individual parts of this but i need this to put it into reference for the song lol (like how many times the chorus repeats, ect)
this helps alot, I'm currently learning this and theres just a few bits that I'm iffy on but this helps
hello me. you have improved a lot and can now pick up songs in just a matter of minutes
all the great guitar's 'fire' begins on the word fire in the original song jaja brilliant
1:07 = thumps up if you want to learn this GREAT SOLO PART. NEED A TEACHER WITH THE TABS! PLZZZ
where the heck did that solo come from? 😱😱
It's not a solo, it's hidden behind Liam's vocals and the bass . Hard to hear unless you're explicitly listening for it
Thats what i love from this song.. listen to the Drums only.. such a hard beat to follow not at all what people hear initially
Best part of the song.
It’s always been there, once you hear ur you always here it in the song after x
@FatTonyCologino
Use the standard chord progression for that section of the song, and instead of strumming, pluck the strings with your finger or the pick. (I prefer the pick.)
When you strike the D chord, you can move your pinky finger to the top string, just above the chord position, and pick to get that ringing-out sound on those two high notes.
To do it right, you have to move your fingers DURING the chords, which takes some getting used to, but it's a lot of fun.
Good luck.
Do you know the lesson for the section 1:08 ? :/
VERY late answer, but if you type 'wonderwall arpeggio' in utube, you can find it soon
이해해라다그래 thank you sooo much man you’ve just completed the part of this song I’ve always been missing

Or you can play this video at 0.25x speed and hear every note. It took me 30 minutes but I know it's perfect. ;)
Ah yes, my 4 favorite chords
What about the Cadd9
@KinanEldari It is the original.
Listen to the SACD version of What's the story album, where you can hear more clearly it is the same riff on this song.
@kyleNo9
from 0:35 to 0:40, its Em7 G major Dsus4 A7sus4
and from 0:40 to 0:46, its Cadd9 Dsus4 A7sus4
Gracias justo lo que buscaba
@dave790 agreed, john lennons - image is simple, and look, its one of the greatest songs ever created.
i really love them
OMFG Thank you! this is the only DECENT One i found with just the guitar... THANK YOU!! X'D
WOW! Thanks so much. As a guitar player, well needed, thank you :)
wait, how did you have only the guitar? :S i wanna do this too for other oasis songs!!
this is beautiful :')
This tune was created by Great Noel Gallagher on his own foo, you should be named NoelGallagherTheBest smh.
Jackson who fucking cares
Thank Man,this is sounds amazing !!!
4:11 supersonic
The bass note at 1:25. How does he do it with a capo on the 2nd? It sounds like an open E to me. Any ideas?
did you play this or it's the original?
THank you for taking the time to explain that to me i appreciate it ...it is alot of fun just tried it out its beautiful adds so much to the tune ye kno
I need the tab
Dude you're on RUclips. Go find it haha
Class! First Class! World Class!
this is one seriously GOOD song!
@greenn37 Yeah he uses a capo on the second fret.
1.08 👏👏👏 unreal
그래도 이 곡은 리암의 목소리로 완성된다고 생각해.
I can hear the medieval influence. Kinda like ancient Royal"Court Music" a touch of the band XTC....Noel the Court Jester..
I love this ❤
Noel is a genious!
