As a quilt teacher as well as a paper lover, I recommended this same process to my quilting students in regard to their fabric stash...I had not considered utilizing it for my paper! Thank you!
I'm a card-maker. The first thing I do with my scraps is to cut any pieces into 5 1/4x4 card-mat size. They fit perfectly into the little 4x6 plastic Iris boxes, and I store them by color. That way I always have a card mat pre-cut and ready to go for my A2 cards.
Love how neat they look in your box, all cut to same size. Also love your board with the measurements. I think I might have inherited one fromy mom. Gonna go check, because I want to protecty new desk surface!
This is a marvellous idea. I have tons of scraps. The cards one can use as pockets in your junk journals or as tags if you do the collages on white paper. Thanks for sharing this marvellous idea with us. Just love your collection of Project Life cards.
I listened to her as well💌. I now have six packets. I organized my scraps into various sizes, labelled and bagged off. I use them for card making. ✔Love your idea!!
awesome idea... I have never thought to do it with larger sheets, but I do this with tags, I take all my scraps, and just create scrap tag bases and put them aside, and when I feel like crafting easy, i pull out my scrap tags, all those unused colored images, or ephemera and I create super easy tags... I like your idea on the cutting scraps down to 4x6 and 2x3... that I will def do, thanks
I like this idea--I had small strips and saw where someone had in one evening of tv made some paper by glueing the strips diagonal--and other ways and made some interesting papers.--So that is what I did--the project turned out beautiful--lots of all sizes of cardstock for all kinds of projects and cards--Now I will try your example--I love it--thanks for sharing--
I just watched Treasure Books YT and she made cute ruffles so if you have a sewing machine you can make cute cute cute ruffles too! I also love what you did with putting cards together and how you organized them great ideas!! Thx for sharing!
Me too, I watched that the other night while I was crafting myself - the finished product look sooooo awesome, I'm now saving up to buy my own sewing machine ❤
This is also called "FRANKENPAGES". I have been doing this for years. There are Many RUclips videos on doing this. I love to sew mine once all the paper is just tacked down. If I want to really glue each piece, then I would go back later and using a Fine Tip Sharpie, I would mark in Sewing Stitches.
Awesome idea❣️. I was in a swap where we made patch work cards they were very pretty they look like little quilts very nice to send to your scrapy friends. It you try it I would love to see them.
When I have scraps from a themed paper pad, I save them in a zip lock (size depends on size of pad...ex. A gallon size for 12x12 pad) then tape the zip lock of scraps to the cardboard back of the pad. It works so well when I need scraps that match that theme without looking through all of my paper scraps. Hope that makes sense.
I do cardmaking & save scraps anyway. But the FRANKEN-PAPER😄 is such a great idea! I think I will steal, er, oops, BORROW this idea 😁 That way I can make mats for my card sentiments. Thx for sharing😍
You are so organised and neat. My work room looks like an explosion in a craft shop - I’m in the process of moving to a larger room and the logistics have been horrendous 😏 These are so beautiful - it would be amazing to have a stack ready to use as you work on a project. I’m a bit “now what would look good here” which is why it takes me so long to do a page 😁
My craftroom is a never ending work in organization. And I tend to be the same way, with my scrapbook pages, but doing this helps with that because I just do it!!! Give it a try!! Thanks for watching!!! Kerry :D
LOL the larger the room, the larger the mess, the larger the stash....ask me how I know! I always dreamed of having my current room and it was beautiful. I painted wall murals etc.....they are covered by loaded cubicles. I am constantly purging and somehow, the paper spawns new paper...I don't know how! LOL
Izzaboutchu! I’m starting to get a horrible feeling you’re rIght 🤣As well as being surrounded by ginormous stacks of paper and journalling projects, I do quilting (cutting table, quilter’s sewing machine table plus fabric stash, 2 machines and an overlocker), and polymer clay mosaics (including a toaster oven and a much bigger clay stash than I realised until this week). I’ve also got my laptop and two printers and 3 tall bookcases. On the plus side, my new room is completely empty and in the process of being painted a soft, buttermilk colour. I’m going to have picture ledges put up so I can display some of my embroidery projects. Perhaps I’ll just have a chair in the middle and use it for meditation🧘♀️
@@lindafriend9392 My suggestion is to not put anything on the walls until you have worked in there for a while.....no sense in making holes in the walls for things that won't be seen or useful in the near future. My second suggestion is to categorize the room into sections. I learned this from teaching kindergarten. I have a paper craft section, a beading section, and an art section within my cubbie units. On the wall, I have a table for my sewing needs. I have my embroidery machine on a desk on that same wall. My portable sewing machine is under that desk to be brought out as needed. I have another old teacher's school desk that is beautiful when it is uncovered..LOL. It's surface holds my computer/printer and a cutting machine that is for both paper and fabric. I keep it near that embroidery machine for easy use of cutting appliques. In the closet, I have all of my fabrics wrapped around cardboard and in cubbies according to colors. It took a lot of use to finally figure out how to streamline my room. The work table in in the center of the room where I have my other cutting machine that I use mostly for scanning/cutting papers....but it is also near the side of the table closest to my embroidery machine in case I need to scan in fabric.to cut designs etc. It is crazy being a creative person. That makes it all the more necessary to be organized according to how you think. I am a "if I don't see it, I won't use it" kind of person. So I have to rotate things 3 or 4 times a year and It is like Christmas on those days because I will see things that I forgot that I had and it is then fun to use those items....but I hide away things in that process too. Good luck!
Izzaboutchu! Wow, thank you 😊 That’s really helpful, especially the bit about not putting stuff on the walls. I’ve had it painted a light colour and I’m having vinyl on the floor next week. At the moment everything but quilting happens in the same space. I make poly clay mosaics and models and it has a tendency to get trodden in to the carpet 😒 I’m having an 11 foot worktop with pedestals along one wall with space for poly clay including my little oven at one end and a space for journaling with my cutting machines and small sewing machine at the other. It will be nice for my laptop and printer to have a dedicated desk at last - when I’m not making stuff I’m tracing my family tree. I’m not changing my storage cupboards or bookcases as they’re fairly new, but I’ve treated myself to a fold out quilting table for my quilting machine. It’s got extra flaps to take the weight of the fabric as you quilt. I’m hoping to organise my fabrics when I’ve got more space, winding it round cardboard sounds like a good idea. Like you, I’m ‘if I can’t see it I won’t use it’ . I knew I had a paper tearing ruler, but i couldn’t find it so in the end I just bought another one a couple of weeks ago - I found the original, identical one yesterday. As for gesso, vintage photo ink pads and clay stash🤫. I’m so excited about this, I just wish I’d made a note of how I persuaded my husband it was a good idea 🤣
I take strips and glue them diagonally across card bases and then trim it down to th card for anything still hanging off, I use almost every tiny piece of paper I possibly can and when I sell those cards I have a sticker on the packaging that says it's up cycled, I have people interested in those cards more than the regular cards I make.

Great ideas. Some I already do and some were new to me that I look forward to trying. Especially the last, using up your drawer of scraps like that.

What a fabulous idea for using your scraps!
Very good idea. Mine are all in a big box and have to go through looking for size I want. Thank you for sharing all of this.
I just did something similar. I put them on the diagonal and they are beautiful. Make great card bases too.
I am going to have the try them diagonally now...great idea!!! Thanks for watching!! Kerry :D
Clever! I like the concept. It's reminiscent of serendipity squares.
Oh wow! You really have your scraps organized! Love your collaged/quilted cards! Those are fabulous!
I can see you doing this!! Kerry :D
What a great idea - I am SO stealing this idea. Make so much sense!! Thank you
Love this idea... make it tidy and easy to find out... other than I'll punch it with flower shapes etc... ready to use... when needed...
Great idea to punch out shapes with it as well!.. Thanks for watching!! Kerry :D
The scraps to the back of the 12 x 12 is a great idea for small scraps. Thank you so much.
So glad you like it!! Thanks for watching!!! Kerry :D
I love the idea of taking the small pieces to make a big sheet. I may try it to make double sided paper. Thank you!
It is perfect for that, have fun!!! Thanks for watching!!! Kerry :D
Wait--- I am missing how you connected them. Glue? Clear contact paper?
I like this idea. I usually usey scraps for bookmarks.

Love this idea. I have so many scraps and this will certainly them usable. The leftovers will then be punched in to various shapes. Thanks so much.

Me too, I watched that the other night while I was crafting myself - the finished product look sooooo awesome, I'm now saving up to buy my own sewing machine ❤
Thanks for the ideas. I love it. I have so many scraps. I don't throw anything away except for the very smallest ones.
That's how I was, and now every couple of months I just get out my bin of scraps and make these!! So easy!! Thanks for watching!! Kerry :D

Great idea Kerry. I did something like that but cut mine down to 4.25X5.5 and now have them for my card fronts. ~ Hugs, Sherry
