We need to back our allies and keep our promises...
Its not just British and American politicians who were spied on. The same happened for Danish politicians that were critical of China.
Um. And Chinese ones?
Obviously folks need to take precautions against being spied on.
I think we make fools of ourselves, though, if we try to get all holy-holy about spies doing their jobs.
Is Europe finally waking up? I've been concerned over China's influence for many years!
As a European, if America re-elects Trump and sides with Russia, I think we should encourage China to do whatever the hell they want.
@@tiffanylaserna1288 Chinese or illegal European? Try harder.
The more someone understands China, the less they trust it.
@@tiffanylaserna1288Well actually that not a bad argument haha
Chinese 🇨🇳 government has schools for training hackers to do cybercrimes in other countries.
Fabulous podcast guys
Brilliant updates. Thanks for the Important work.
+30% of its value tax on Chinese imports!....
the Chinese problem is solved!...
That's not how it works. The consumer gets stuck paying the tax increase every time. But nice try. Keep pondering.😊
Wait. That might make the merchandise priced to consider it competitive to manufacture it here in America even with the wages paid. Good thinking!😊
It isn't economically feasible to shock and ruin our consumers and no government would survive the aftermath of such a policy.
So much kindness. I hope the US congress approves the Ukraine aid bill quickly
Superb episode.
Excellent coverage! R (Australia)
It's always a pleasure to hear Roland Oliphant on your podcasts, as he is much more knowledgable and informative on the Caucasus and Central Asia than James Kilner, your designated correspondent for the region.
China is interfering in Canada, too.
The chinese are so sloppy. How do they not understand this will end bad for them?
The west are so sloppy
It's worked well for them so far and they have a lot of leverage over us.
@@FizzVizard I wouldn’t say it’s worked well. If it had worked well your average citizen would not be aware.
Yes they inderstand. They knew history.
And europeans habit to genocide everyone they met
Thats why they working on to be stronger
Thanks for covering this. It's been going on since the mid 2000s
After Penny Mordaunt replaces nowhere man Ritchie Sunak, things may get worse -
if that's even possible.
We as the west need to take back manufacturing. We need to become self sustainable. We have the people we have the resources we have the technolog we really dont need China. Not as much as they need us. China's economy would collapse if we changed our dependence on them.
They're totally planning to do it.
I don’t eat Chinese food anymore
That'll show em

Every country hacks other countries.
not at that scale, not for destructions, not for threats.
I can't find Battle Lines or Ukraine: the latest on Google podcasts, can anyone give me advice on how to get them please?
Wow ! That woman really has a voice for print journalism.
Nobody needs to sow seeds of mistrust in the tories. They do it all on their own.
Levelling up innit.
I'm a bit surprised that demographics as probably the most important factor in how the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan eventually played out is left out. While Armenia's population is not only a quarter the size of Azerbaijan's population it is also in sharp decline, Azerbaijan's population on the other hand is still rising. I'm not a friend of culturalist explanations when it comes to conflicts between Muslim and Christian populations, however the comparatively delayed (!) transition to a lower birthrate among Muslim populations has been shaking up power structures and hence fulling conflicts world wide - from conflicts within the middle East, most prominently the war in Libanon, to conflicts at the border lands between Islam and (post)Christianity like in ex-Yugoslavia and the Caucasus. However, instead of looking out for a general Christian-Muslim conflict, one could rather look into unequally distributed birth rates world wide and and to what degree they have played a role in shaking up power structures - especially wherever the rule of old elites has been challenged - from the civil wars in Sierra Leone and Liberia in the 90s to the rise of Islamism within Muslim countries.

I love the episode, but Ms Turner is almost impossible to understand. It's a shame because she has brilliant things to say, but her accent is peculiar and heavy. She has very poor pronounciation . She really needs voice training. At the very least she needs to slow down her speech and pronounce her words more precisely.

Guangzhou is the 3rd largest city in China and is a very important economic and trading hub for the country. It is especially famous for its annual Canton Fair, historical temples, incredible shopping and of course Cantonese cuisine.
modern at the expense of HUGE number in proverty. Infrastructures constructed for GDP but essentially useless and unsustainable because the regular people cannot afford to use these infrastructure.
