A smile from Billy. A grin from D'arcy. A smile from James. How rare is that. Jimmy didn't even have time to smile. I never realized how much of a drum song Jellybelly is. Jimmy even had more left at the end. Freaking beast.
Hands down the best drummer I've ever seen play. As many say: he's a monster. I call him a drum orchestra...in the Neil Peart league for sure. Now Mike has left the new Pumpkins wouldn't it just frost the cake if Jimmy returned. I think chances of that are zero though.
jellybelly is such an underrated Pumpkins song.If you listen to "Jellybelly - Instrumenta/Pit Mix 3" which I believe was the live studio take that became the basis for the final studio cut, you can hear how insane this band was in the mid-nineties. Jimmy's playing is so clear on that recording, every snare hit is so perfect. So technical yet so raw
I think so too. In fact, the best live versions of a few other songs are also from this gig in my opinion. Which means this might aswell be their best live show ever.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transformed from one form to another. Thank you Billy, Darcy, Jimmy and James for sharing your energy with me. Twenty nine years ago my younger brother came by and handed me the Mellon Collie two-CD set and asked me to let him know what I thought. One-week later I met up with him for a beer and he asked, "So, whattya think?" I simply told him it was a work of art. Nothing, not Dark Side of The Moon, Quadrophenia nor Tommy moved me like Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness. And Jellybelly is the first song that grips you. It is the third song on the first disc, preceded by the title track and Tonight, Tonight. At the time, My brother was dating Ruby, a beautiful Korean Girl with tons of energy and no filter. We both loved her; I loved her as a future sister-in-law. Sadly, my brother and Ruby broke up never to see each other again. Sometime later, I ran into Ruby and her new boyfriend at one of the Public Houses we all used to frequent. She was her beautiful vivacious self; full of life and positive energy. She was not one to let grass grow underneath her feet. While her boyfriend went to the Men's Room, Ruby and I talked. I asked her why they broke up. It was the first time I could see her side of the story - Thru the Eyes of Ruby. Several years later I got the terrible news: Ruby was out running and some asshole ran into her with his car. They rushed her to the hospital but she passed on the way there. My brother and I to this day have never talked about it. Whenever I am feeling depressed and alone, I listen to Mellon Collie cover to cover. I think of her, her warmth and beautiful spirit. I literally go back in time. The night has come to hold us young.
awesome performance of them at thier absolute peak imho. Just before Jimmy and the keyboardist OD'd (keyboardists fatally). i saw them later with the drummer from Filter filling in. Impossible job.
I did as well, partly because tickets sold out so fast. I went to high school with Iha’s cousin though, so he got him to sign my SP poster. Filters drummer sped up everything, but not in a good way. I’ve seen the Pumpkins several times & that was the only show that was iffy.
@@jaimeflor4181 The show was still very good, Billy was highly energetic. But James and D'Arcy looked like they were not enjoying a minute of it. And both quickly left the stage at the close of the last song, no bows or waves to the audience. Gone.
This. Nirvana were a great band but they just didn't have the depth or variety that prime Pumpkins had. The spectrum of incredible music on Siamese Dream, Melon Collie and then Adore... I'm totally with you.
My parents wouldn’t let me travel to London from Bournemouth to see this gig when I was 17. I was so gutted. This is the first time I’ve seen footage of it. Now I’m gutted all over again.
So good. ABC (Australia) televised this whole Brixton concert in '96. I taped/recorded it. Became my most prized possession as a 15 y.o. Audio live shows/bootlegs were hard to come by here, let alone a video.
As a teenager growing up in the 90s, MCIS was one of my favorite records, but usually I liked the more melodic and progressive songs, I usually skiped songs like this one, but now i get it! if i had a drummer like J.C. in my band i would want every song to be like this
Most Aussie bands that try this do the rock by numbers approach with simple drum beats,Pumpkins have that jazzy drum thing going plus an element of melancholy almost prog even to their heavier tracks.
On a big open stage without in-ear monitors it can be so hard to even get a good read on where the beat is... Playing speed metal at outdoor gigs when rehearsals are all in small, dead rooms can be a rude awakening.
Rush1017 There's an interview with Butch Vig in which he said in the Siamese Dream days Jimmy would play several times until getting everything the way he (Jimmy himself) wanted, and Butch said that even at his worse he was still better than 90% of the drummers at their best! Hands dow, my fav drummer since Boham.
@@user-gx8id5bl2e that's true. He played cherub rock on 1 take but billy had enough of his shit so he made him play again and again until his hands bled. You can see in the siamese dream recording studio video billy saying something about a snare drum having blood in it.
I'm always requesting stuff so I must be annoying as hell but any chance of uploading Zero and Fuck You? :) Even if not, thank you for the awesome content.I'm really thinking of buying the remaster deluxe edition,so much goodies!
Really? I thought he sounded amazing at the metro and that was vocally one of their best shows. Wouldn't you agree his voice sounds raspier here like he's been screaming for two months?
+Zero I think it always sounds a little rough but that's what makes him unique and great, and the Metro show is my favorite recorded performance of theirs due to the fact Siamese Dream is my favorite album of theirs.
Anyone else here who paused the Rick Beato’s interview to JC to appreciate this masterpiece…?
Oh yeah, what a beaut
Sure Did!!!
Damn str8!

Yep

Nice to see D’arcy smiling and having fun.
nowadays james smiles more often:))
This was an insane drum song. This and Geek USA because they usually played both twice as fast. Chamberlain was a beast... dude is a JAZZ drummer!
No band sounds like this
One band called Smashing Pumpkins sounds quite a lot like this
I see you on all the music videos I watch We share a lot of the same music tastes
Glad to see you back here, best band ever

jakeenan good news! jimmy's coming back (for the new tour at least, we don't know if he'll be full time, that would be amazing though).
A Potato Never say never, eh! Hopefully its not some last hurrah.......the Pumpkins at their best and truest has Jimmy onboard......
yellow rose of texas
Always does ❤
Jimmy is as important to the Pumpkins as Bonham was to Zeppelin.
to think Jimmy almost went out just like Bonham.
Moon to Who. Peart to Rush.
Well said, sir.
Crazy that they started with a drum machine before he was in the band
Billy said he’s got the best rock and roll drummer in the world

Jimmy chamberlain will always be the best drummer... In my heart
class!!!
chase ruel Jimmy looks like playing the drums is nothing lol, like it's as easy as breathing
He is the best. Period.
Luckily he cleaned up and rejoined
Jimmy, Bonham and Moon will forever be the best. 🤘🏻
Rick Beato brought me here, thankyou Rick... Have a whole new appreciation of the Pumpkins
The Pumpkins will always be legendary.
This might be their best live performance of this song
I think so too. In fact, the best live versions of a few other songs are also from this gig in my opinion. Which means this might aswell be their best live show ever.
Closely followed by the version from Gent!
Jesus Christ. I thought the album release show for Siamese Dream was fire. Billy is a goddamn BEAST. The whole band is beast! Everybody seems 100%.
never seen darcy this high energy
1:14 - Lemon makes me sick!
R W it was a joke bro

goddamn this is rock!! lucky who watch them live in this era with hot Darcy
Their best show, hands-down. Ruby from this show is their peak. At that very moment they were the best band of their generation.
The extended ruby ending is legendary
This. Nirvana were a great band but they just didn't have the depth or variety that prime Pumpkins had. The spectrum of incredible music on Siamese Dream, Melon Collie and then Adore... I'm totally with you.
My favorite song by them maybe ever. That song is just a fuckin trip
I saw this tour....it was legendary..........
The best tune on that album.
Easily
Can you imagine starting a band and finding Jimmy to play drums
Siamese Dream was literally Billy and Jimmy.
0:26 James slight grin, (we are really about to show off) 0:36 Billy (yep here we go)
These days are gone.
love this song and the album wow
My parents wouldn’t let me travel to London from Bournemouth to see this gig when I was 17. I was so gutted. This is the first time I’ve seen footage of it. Now I’m gutted all over again.
James' harmonising fits so well
Jeez. No one else ever came close.

if there was any Pumpkins gig I wish I had been at... It's probably this one. What a set and performance.

Dude I’ve been thinking this for so long. Especially Aussie indie bands all just have the simplest 2and4 beats and it drives me crazy
so thankful that silverchair exists
Sliverchair isn't that drum intensive.... Still cool band tho
What a performance!!!!
This is THE most fun song to play on guitar.
Gets me amped.
such a great show thx:)
love them and just discovered them
Would have killed to see them on this tour :(
lol Yes I paused the Beato interview and dialed it up! Funny
They totally missed that kick ass drum solo in the middle.
Heavy AF!
This is my fav smashing pumpkins
Alex, I love you. Thanks.
Wow, they are tight!!
I saw this tour at the Hampton coliseum in 96. Amazing 3 encores and billy playing on stilts.
For me, this song has the best drums in all the 90s!
look at those guns on Jimmy!
That's dope.
Holy fuck this sounded amazing live
Holy shit...whew!!
Jimmy Chamberlin its a Predator, a motherfucking BEAST. Period.-
Damn. Playing music is crazy
You can can tell the rest of the band and struggling to keep up with jimmy
A lot to this statement. That's why they seem to be enjoying playing.
On a big open stage without in-ear monitors it can be so hard to even get a good read on where the beat is...

0:17-40 over and over. Just balls-out thrashing...
Crazy
"those smashing pumpkins, always looking at their shoes"
Interesting thing about this is I never knew Jimmy was this jacked back then. I thought he beefed up after he got fired.
Jimmy is fucking amazing
No prob and thanks !
Jimmy ma man!!
I wonder if Jimmy every had to do a second take in the studio...
Rush1017 There's an interview with Butch Vig in which he said in the Siamese Dream days Jimmy would play several times until getting everything the way he (Jimmy himself) wanted, and Butch said that even at his worse he was still better than 90% of the drummers at their best! I’ve also heard that if he came to the studio strung out Billy would make him rehearse songs until his hands bled.

Jimmy Chamberlain for F'ING EVER! What a God Damn Beast on drums!
What disappoints me is this guy also made hooray! Still legends tho 🤘🏻
Holy SHIT!
Jimmy has always been a goddamn monster behind the kit
When they were recording Mellon Collie, the vand would attempt this first every session.
Where can I find a torrent file for this concert?
does anyone know what gig this is from. is there full version anywhere?
jimmy is insane
You're welcome !
Fantastique chanson, c'est dommage que la version album ne sonne pas si bien que ça.
Uploading Bullet with Butterfly Wings from this show would be amazing :33
I was there 🙂
Peak Pumpkins
Puts into perspective how damaging it was when Melvin died…they were at the fucking top of their game…
it is a fucking shame I can only like this video once
jimmy at his best. This guy made pumpkins sound like the pumpkins.
D'arcy is fucking God.
JC is #1 drummer eva......

anyone here in July 24
I am a drummer and my white whale to play the into and outro of this song using a single stroke roll.
Ok I added it ! RUclips video code Vus8TT0DSww
This is what it means to be heavy without being cringe metal
Jimmy is like a sober Keith Moon.
Uhhh. Who’s gonna tell him lol
This must be towards the end of the tour
His voice sounds shot
Not exactly, Billy sounds better than he did at the Metro concert which is the first gig of the Siamese Dream tour.
Ok
When i sing this song i always change the living makes me sick for lovin makes me sick so sick i wish i die
These are clearly goths but they are playing full on rock. Wow!
Billy corgan likes jelly beans
d'arcy looks like angela from the office in here
