Very good video. I used the trams to get to and from Picadilly and Bury when I was up there for the first Flying Scotsman weekend at the East Lancashire Railway. I think the front of the train has to stop as close to the signal as possible, so that it can be picked up by the track circuits. It's a shame that the trains are short and the entrance to the platform is quite a distance. The same thing happened a couple of years ago, when Sir Nigel Gresley was on its way to London with only its support coach in tow, but it had to stop in front of the signal at Welwyn Garden City station, so no-one could get a picture of the front of the engine. Thanks for posting this. Keep up the good work.
This reminds me of Birkbeck Station just outside Beckenham. On one side of the track is a single bidirectional track used by Southern services from London Bridge to Beckenham Junction via Crystal Palace. The other side is the island platform and passing loop for Tramlink to and from Beckenham Junction and Croydon...
+The Original Lundun Geeza +sbaker190189 In both London and Manchester the mainline service is somewhat infrequent - every 30 minutes - whilst the trams are much more frequent.
+The Original Lundun Geeza whilst this is a good idea what in isolation, consideration needs to be taken as to the pitifully narrow width of the existing Victoria line station platforms. They are already far too crowded for an extension even to be considered unfortunately. the time and cost of widening the platforms alone would be enough to stop business people supporting it...
+The Original Lundun Geeza it's not Croydon, but I read somewhere that the original plan for what is today the Northern line, was to extend from Clapham Common, terminus from 1900 until the extension opened, through tooting and thence to Sutton. It was opposed by the Southern Railway as it was in opposition to their connecting line from Wimbledon to Sutton, today the Sutton loop of Thameslink. Going back to Beckenham Junction though, I have heard that it is featured on one of several proposed ideas for an extension of the Bakerloo line from Elephant and Castle.
+David Frankal Alas, not from here. But I have some 1990s footage from Dane Road station which you will be pleased to see. Both trains and trams. When I returned in 2012 I found that there was an industrial estate where I had filmed many years before and a row of trees blocking the view of the trams. 2:15 Some future historian... can you imagine an archaeologist trying to figure out how our computers work only to find information on how our transport system used to operate.
+ejcmoorhouse A lot depends on what historical records last into the far future. If only skimpy information is available 1000 years from now so there will indeed be much confusion.
Great vid I remember a class 303 derailed here just before the crossings in 1986.

+The Original Lundun Geeza MY LINE!!!!!!!!
yes
Its like how the croydon tram and southern trains often travel together
Not much change in 20 years, also the other crossing in the background, is Deansgate Lane.
Fun fact. Deansgate Lane Junction has a manned active signal box.
@@tommcglone2867 Which is still in use today!
Really liking these videos!
Thanks :-)

I don't suppose you have any pre-Metrolink footage? That would be interesting.
