    Just came across a great interview with Karl on another channel that would be good for a reaction. It really gets into his head about how he got into things, how he feels about it all, his insecurities etc. It was on radio so there's no visuals. Also its about 40 min with a break in the middle where the 2 interviewers do a little 'looking back on the interview' chat after he left, so it would probably suit being in 2 parts? Not sure if you can get links from comments but its ruclips.net/video/2Qpw40QJyrA/видео.html or, if you need to search the title is 'KARL PILKINGTON COMES OUT OF ISOLATION - HE'S SICK OF IT'. Even if you don't want to react to it its worth checking just for the insight etc :)

    By the way £500 is called a monkey because British soldiers in colonial India called the 500 Rupee note a monkey because it had a picture of a monkey on it. When they came home they continued the tradition by calling £500 a monkey (although it was and is a hell of a lot more money!).
    Karl used to be emailed most of these stories by listeners, and believes it as gospel truth of course, because it's "typed up and that". Anything that is typed must be truth to Karl, bless him. Sometimes when Stephen demands some kind of substantive proof of the story, you can hear a rustle of paper as Karl hands over the email he printed out. 🤣

    It was the last episode of the show where you talked about toilets on trains. It was when Karl talked about the blind guy needing to go. We do have toilets on trains here in the UK. It’s generally just one room with a curved sliding door that sometimes locks and sometimes just randomly opens

    • @zarabada6125
      @zarabada6125 Год назад +2

      It depends on the train model. Older trains have a normal door while more modern trains have a larger sliding door to allow better access for disabled people. Some longer trains have both types.
      The random opening only happens when there is a fault.

    I guess the Dilkington thing is funny to Ricky because sometimes things are just funny for no reason or just strike one as funny in a way that can't be really explained to anyone else. But I find the second line is funnier "Dear Mr K Dilkington you are one of our most valuable customers" which is obviously a lie as they can't even get his name right, so not really valued at all.

  • @blackie75
    @blackie75 Год назад +4

    The Dilkington thing was funny because the name Dilkington itself sounds like a joke name (dill = slang for stupid person in UK and Australia) and it was that coupled with the fact that a company was trying to tell Karl how much they valued him as a customer and they couldn't even get his name right.

    The Wewe thing is correct. Its a creature from folktales in Indonesia. It is said to kidnap children, so parents use it as a way to scare kids into being home on time at night else the Wewe would get them. Sort of a boogeyman equivalent. Its always depicted with VERY long breasts. Theres a whole backstory behind the creature .

And, and this is the point I wanted to make, there are no toilets, so most people wear nappies. So, when you see the crowds celebrating New Year on TV, they've all pooped and peed on themselves. I've heard people say they remember major events being reported on the news which I know happened before they were born, such as someone who was born in 1989 saying they remember the great storm of 87. They saw a documentary about it years later & confused it with hearing about it as it happened.

      @@davidz3879 yes there are fake memories. Studies in psychology where people had childhood photos photoshopped into new scenes result in many people forming a false memory and describing in detail the day. .but this is Karl 😂

    I was in India in the 70s and traveled around mostly in 3rd class carriages of trains. Every single carriage had a toilet. I recall that video you reacted to with the toilet on the train. I think it might have been one of the An Idiot Abroad videos.

    I’m a political/news junkie… argue with some right-wing dum - well, I won’t be impolite. We’ve got an election coming up here. But, I’ll tell ya, always good to just watch your light-hearted vids with the hahas. Great way to just chill.
