Funnily enough, one of the reasons why some listening to this may think "it sounds close, but not quite the same as Ancient Stones," is because the composer recorded the original by opening up a piano and hammering the strings with pencils. This is why, though it sounds very close to a hammer dulcimer, that distinct sound isn't quite possible to recreate with (a standard) one.
Anyhow, great work!
I hear about people using an open piano and sticks to mimic the sound of the dulcimer, and while that is super cool, I would love to lay down some samples for anyone doing videogame music :D gotta get the hammered dulcimer out there!
Yeah! If I remember correctly I believe the piano was derived from the hammered dulcimer, which is why people can use a piano to replicate the sound.

The sound of the hammered dulcimers is great and has some resemblence the to the original. Nice job
That's because the original was played directly with the strings of a specially-prepared piano. Kind of similar, eh?

Thank you so much! I love performing with both cello and bass, but it is such a luxury to get more than three performers paid sometimes. :D I have a couple of videos up with other instruments, but unfortunately not with Flynn here.
@@TheLadyVictoria No worries. And fair enough, I feel you on how difficult it is to get other instrumentalists. I'm a composer myself, so I should have thought of that.
