I agree with the trade to move Barron. Carrier is not big vs big teams however he will certainly be a plus for Habs!

I like the trade however it would have been nice to get a bigger body but of course not easy to do. I also feel that Mailloux may be regressing because he wants the opportunity to learn at the NHL level after spending all of last season with Laval. Why are we worried about defensive mistakes? We are rebuilding and most of Habs defencemen currently in lineup are making these mistakes in their own zone yet they are not sitting. I feel Mailloux needs an opportunity in lineup more than 1 game at end of season and the preseason. Yes mistakes will happen but that’s how he will learn plus he is a big body with good offensive upside and a point shot.

the bigger bodies are maillioux and reinbacher, LD should be hutson, guhle and jackeye. Move Matheson for more size and speed

Eric: The only way to earn a call-up is by performing well in the AHL, and Mailloux isn’t there yet. He’s struggling, while Engström is having a stronger season and has moved ahead of him on the defensive depth chart. Mailloux needs more time in the AHL to develop and refine his game.

Very surpised. Barron wasnt on my likelihood of getting traded first. I thought if when he eventually did he would be apart of a package for something greater like a Laine. But turns out Montreal does a bit of a buyer move here. Taking the experienced defenseman and quite frankly better. Carrier has struggled with his health the last couple of years but if you look his last 2 full seasons he had 20 and 30 points with great defensive stats. That could be because Saros especially at the time was like a top 5 goalie and they had a good d core. But still he was playing top 4 minutes for them.
    Overall grading:
    Canadiens: B
    Predators: B-

I think the likelihood Savard gets traded just went up significantly.

I would agree with you as both Savard and carrier have about the same contract money wise. Savard should fetch a good return for a playoff contending team. Carrier will be under contract for the next 2 years at 3.57Mil and is a top 4 D. Barron is so inconsistent on defense that he was a bottom 6 and alternated with Struble. I loved Barron's offensive side, but his awful defensive lapses made him expandable.

They did get smaller, but you can't argue that Barron plays small and soft for his size.
