1992 MRE Ham Slice Vintage Ration Review Meal Ready to Eat Tasting Test

- Check out this incredibly well preserved ham slice and other MRE foods, snacks, and beverages of the early 90's! A very retro menu, with exciting finds like a fully intact chocolate covered brownie. You just never see MRE's in this good of condition anymore, as it is all about storage conditions.
This is the most fun I have had with a simple old vintage MRE in a good bit. I hope you enjoy the video and stay tuned for many more extremely well stored vintage MREs of the early-mid 90's!

LET'S GET THIS OUT ONTO A TRAY, NICE™
NICE HISS™
I'LL BE COMING BACK AT YOU WITH SOMETHING NEW OR OLD, ALRIGHT COOL SEE YA™ - Развлечения
This is the most fun that I've had with a vintage MRE in a good while. Ended up finding a source where they had been stored in an insulated cool room in his basement. The owner had meticulously stored all his MRE's under strictly regulated temperatures for over 25 years. He passed away, and his son sold off his stuff. And I was lucky enough to acquire a part of that collection of vintage MREs. So stay tuned for more in this kind of condition.
Awesome steve!
Nice!
Looking forward to more. Congrats on the awesome find!
Let’s get them out on a tray! Nice!
How often do rations of this age stored in this condition come on the market and how quickly do they sell?

How long were you awake before you ate the 5 man MRE 1957?
This was one of my favorite MREs back in the day, this and oddly the omlet because the texture was so satisfying. The salt of the ham slice really gave you a jolt of energy and the electrolyte boost you could really feel from a day out in the field. The cocoa beverage powder was the saving grace of many of these meals for as you can see there is very little sugar in this meal and the brownie bar was not only a food of last resort but was often loaded with hard shells. The cocoa beverage powder could be used on its own or combined with the coffee to make a nice field cafe mocha and for the sweet tooth the creamer and sugar packet could be added for an even creamier and sweeter version. You could also forgo the coffee in the cocoa powder, add sugar and creamer and add far less water for a wonderful field pudding. The orange beverage powder always looked like it self florescenced and always though my stomach probably glowed in the dark, it looked quite unhealthy but tasted great, again extra sugar packet could be added to that for an extra kick. The Tabasco was always a bit overpowered in the vinegar department and not so great but boy did it make the less palatable meals like chicken ala king easier to hold the nose and choke down.

I remember the little bottle of Tabasco. If you got lucky and got one you saved it made every MRE taste so much better.
I lived on MRE’s and canned food for a few months after Hurricane Katrina. I think I still have a few of those little bottles lol.
Gotta clear the palette of an unexpired MRE with some 27-year-old ham.
Lmfao
That was my favorite MRE when I was in the Army. Thanks for the memories
This was my favorite of the older MRE's. Still remember the 1st Gen MRE's; we used to heat the main courses in radiator grates that we had in our hardened aircraft shelter crew shacks. Note: the old Chicken Ala King made one heck of a mess if the pouch was left in the crates for too long a period.
You don't realise how much information Steve is giving you about MREs. From all eras. There are experts, and then there's Steve at a higher level.

The fact that Steve KNOWS that clear packaging was used between 90-91 in MRE blows my mind.. This dood knows his shit; always fun to watch.
Seriously his passion and awareness of all the nuances of menu changes and variations is amazing.
You're 100% right! His channel is not only entertaining but also informative. To me anyway, this is what social media should be about, not watching some bimbo get dressed,or an alleged couple perform routine everyday tasks

That's usually his upload pattern. New then old

This was one of the more "liked" rations during that time. My sections Gunner liked them better than all the others so I recall usually giving it to him if I ever snagged this out of the box. Later years the ham slice came in a silver packet which was very exotic HAHA! Keep on with these great reviews Steve, you take us old soldiers and marines right down memory lane.

I like these videos because they take me back, both to the days when I got MREs ( 1984-87 ) and C-rations ( 1979-81 ) . Time capsule, indeed.
