    Hey man, I watched this video like 3 times - once to see if I could do it. Once after the part came. And once while I was doing the job. Made it so easy, and you didn’t have a full auto shop, so you showed us folks without a lift and special tools how do to it the amateur way - which is great. I was able to do it myself, save a bunch of money, and have some fun while doing it. Appreciate you and your son doing this. I bet you have single-handedly helped people save over a million dollars Thank you!

    Thank you for making this video. I just changed the CV Axle on my wife’s 2012 Honda Odyssey with zero issues because of this video. I’m not mechanically inclined, but your visuals and descriptions made it simple.
    Thanks again!

    12:00 - 14:00 when you got stuck on getting the inner end to release - the trick on these cars is to pry gently at the inner end while slowly rotating the axle. Easiest to do that by having a helper turn the right front wheel. There is a c-ring in there that sometimes gets hung up in a groove in the shaft, and the rotation help it self-center.

    it took me 20 minutes just to remove the tire. JK lol.. great video.
    I was able to replace both front struts and shocks, Wheeling bearing, rotors and break pads. And passenger side Axel only because I was hearing the pooping sound and my wheel was making click sound when move back and forth 9 and 3 hold. It took me 3 days in total. (I also work 9 to 5) so I was only working 6:30 to 8:30. I will highly recommend when you work on the car, make sure you have extra car (Putting it back struts was not an easy task and also removing the hub bearing and axel was not a joke) I do have most tools. Maybe not mechanic grade but they do the job.

    I've done several of these axles, and the easiest way I've found to release the inner side is to rent a slide hammer. A 3 fingered puller fits right into pre-made grooves in the inner axle. One bang and it comes right out.

    • @johntoe6127
      @johntoe6127 6 месяцев назад

      Yes, true. O'Rielly's carries one they'll loan out free (with deposit). Inner housing has a groove that 3 fingered puller fits into. The puller bolts onto the slide hammer. Yep, one bang and it's out.

    Something I found out while replacing the drivers CV axel of a Honda Odyssey 2013 was that clip, spring or O-ring of new axel was not completely round was different than old part on the car. So I do recommend to validate this otherwise you will have a lot of issue while placing new axel. Used old clip and that slowed me to set new part

    This is one way of doing it but not the best way to do it in my opinion, another option is to remove lower ball joint from knuckle, and remove outer tierod from knuckle no
    Need to remove strut bolts (that may affect alignment) or caliper (not necessary) and of of course the axle nut which torqure specs is i believe 180 ft lbs, in this precedure in video u can possibly snap the abs sensor or stretch it out internally and cause abs problems later and on passenger side axle has a carrier bearing that is held on by two 14 mm bolts and will slide out without prying

    • @brybo86

      Agreed, removing tie rod and ball joint is much easier and requires no alignment

    • @skdyck1
      @skdyck1 3 года назад +1

      I believe the correct torque spec for the axle nut is 242 ft lbs., at least for my 2015 Odyssey. drivcat.com/HubWheelTorqueTableWindow.aspx?a=7790

      I like your version more due to the fact that I mess up in the process of removing the lower ball joint with ball joint separator on a different vehicle. Expensive lesson learn. I rather remove the knuckle and do the realignment after the job is done. Thank you very much for your tutorial and GREAT JOB to your SON who video the entire process in the cold garage. GREAT JOB young man to hang with your dad.
