Wow thats the first time I seen anyone take off the brakes to change the axle 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I realize that but for video purposes and the fact it only takes an extra 30 seconds🤷♂️
Maybe less contamination 😊
Paid by the hour activities
If you just take off top stabilizer bar you don't have to take ball joint or any of that off...the hub turns enough where you can pull axle out
You don't need to separate the knuckle from the upper ball joint? In this video, looks like he only disconnects the lower ball joint. In other videos, both the upper ball joint and outer tie rod ball joint are separated. According to the manual, they indicate separating the lower ball joint and stabilizer link.
Great video, what I always do, is I apply a lite coat of all-purpose grease to where friction or
fittings are, to keep it from seizing for unforeseen future repairs, also to my lug nuts esle well thanks for sharing.
Great Video! I really needed this information so I don't have to figure it out as I go tomorrow. I'm guessing it will be very much like the 2014 CRV I will be doing. The details and clear views have given me an excellent preview of what is to come.
Thank You!
Glad it was helpful, Good luck!
I don’t know if you noticed, but the original OEM axel that you took out had a counter balance around the shaft and the aftermarket shaft you installed didn’t have one. I mention this because I have learned on a 2014 C-RV that it will most likely never balance out and ride smooth if you don’t use an OEM balanced axel’s.
Dude, thank you very much for this video. I didn’t hammer my axle back into place so I have a bad vibration and I think that’s the reason.
Great Video! Thanks.
I have 2012 civic with CV Boots issue.
Shop recommended me to replace whole Axle Assembly.
You're a very good teacher. Thanks man!
This video helped me a lot! Now I need to do the intermediate shaft. Have you done a video on that?
Soon!
In the future use safety glasses when striking one hammer with another one, they are hardened and will fracture into sharp bits.
Never hit a hardened steel surface with another hardened steel surface...you could get a steel splinter through your safety glasses , which I see you aren't wearing, and into your eye. Just a helpful safety tip .
This is why we buy volcano insurance lol. Good tips.
Now i can do my civic si passenger side axel with no worries
2015 honda pilot Front CV axles any issues with non oem new CV axles? Recommendations?
Gracias por compartir sus conocimientos en hora buena 👍 😉
good stuff bro!
How do you know if the new axle is seated correctly? I installed one just like this but after installing the new axle I can pull it back out with my hand. Should it lock in?
Yes it should.
How do I lock it in I put it in place it went in all the way the spindles lined up otherwise it wouldn’t go in I even hit it on the other end with a hammer to hammer and if I tug on it, it comes out.
@@Salah-ut7uc You should feel it pop in, make sure the shaft is completely seated and you may need to give it a couple taps.
Southern things? Ohio ain't southern...
Was the lock ring still on that inner shaft? That’s what the outer shaft locks onto.
Hi I have a problem with the driver site only shakes between 20 and 30 mph Is this a issue for replace the cv axle?
I never removed them screws that easy😂😂😂
Use cordless impact driver if u have one, if not go get one 😄, used one work just fine. Like Milwaukee M12, Makita, or Dewalt. Set on lowest setting, it will come off like butter.
Rustbelt!!!! Heck yeah
I’ve got your gloves Kyle.
nice, but how do you seperate the drivers side from the transmission?
Aha! pickle fork and one tap pops it out. I was afraid to pry against the transmission case, but I guess that is what you do.
Which company and power wrench is required? Very helpful video 👍👍👍👍🙏🙏
This is amazing thank you so mucu
You are very welcome Skyler, We'll have the new shop up and running very soon so you can expect more awesome videos soon!
My 2012 Civic vibrates on right turns accelerating and from stop accelerating but seems be ok at high speed that I can tell you would that be the cv axle
My 2014 Honda civic would knock when making a left turn. No vibration in the steering wheel. It's in the shop getting the driver side axle replaced. At first I thought it was the motor.
So my 2014 Civic Si passenger side axle popped out so it was pushed back in but after driving I noticed afterwards it was loose so once I looked at the drive shaft I noticed the set ring looks like it was missing which I don't understand because the axle seemed locked firmly into place prior to it being pulled out accidentally. So my question is: Do I need to replace the ring? Or would I have to replace the entire driveshaft?
Nice job! Remember to never smack two hammerheads together, they can chip a piece at you at bullet speed! You're not wearing goggles neither! Thanks for the video!
He got it right about Southern cars… I’m looking at the ball of rust that may or may not have been an axle nut at some time in the last 9 years…
put on your safety shit your smacking hard stuff! LOL!
I just bought a 2012 CRV with bad front AXLES and the messykan who sold me the lemon doesn’t want to fix them and lied that axles are not part of the powertrain, which should be under warranty for 3 months after the purchase. His “preferred insurance” said it will not cover the replacement. What to do?
I love the new channel congratulations bro why you don't be intstrcutor
Good video personality I rather take off the bolts from the spindle on top
What is a keet spline?
Splines and keys are machinery components placed at the interface between shafts and hubs of power-transmitting elements. A spline (or key) is usually machined (or attached) onto the shaft of a power-transmitting pair, and the corresponding groove is cut into the hub.
Great video! Shouldn't you torque the axle nut to specs?
Can’t seperate all ball joints like that with hammer as they are aluminium and you must use a tool but great video 👍
You can if you use a brass hammer.
Jay P not on Holden’s as they are to soft must use tool
Thank you for doing this. Question, should I replace my axel since it’s 11 years old especially I track my 2012 Si?
Thanks! If it's not leaking any grease, making noise or giving you any trouble you shouold be fine.
How many hours you bill.the client.also do we need to replace both Cv Axle joints thankd
Hi Peter, You don't have to replace both. This replacement should take no more than 30-45 mins ;-)
Does this problem cause a sound. When I turn I hear a sound.
Can't you use a centre punch instead of another hammer
A little Metallica nice
What symptoms were you getting for you to change the axle?
A lot of shaking that you could feel through the steering wheel for sure!
@@CEASUSA oh ok hope that solves my problem because, when I accelerate to 60 mph and above the driver side shake crazy.
@@dehiyasitero1938 Good luck!
@@CEASUSA Thanks
Have you ever replaced a passenger axle and customer comes back and say they are experiencing vibration?
Nice! Keep it up rustbelt! Its good to show the proper way first so then people will not make shortcuts on shortcuts turning it into a hack job lol!
Tnk u boddy nice vid
you're doing a cv shaft? why pull the rotor???
Educational purposes 😉
Because he got to display a wider variety of sp tools. This job is every mechanics dream, get paid to do demos on clean equipment indoors, sign me up!!
I have an easier way on a 2012 civic ex sedan, just take the 2 bolts from the strut and you can wiggle it out.
You probably should have taken the entire front clip off of the car to make it easier
So i wantvto buy that 3/8 cordless impact but its sold out everywhere.
Where can we buy this tool?
Hi Pascual, Sorry about that but, due to Covid, SP Tools USA has experienced shipping delays. We hope to have our stock in January.
OHIO mechanics rock it with rust. If it is not rust crusty no challenge.
What's the average cost for this repair?
Depends on the shop, usually costs about $500
Or find a good mobile mechanic and it will cost around $300
Safety glasses! Come on man!
why pull the lower strut fork off???
You don’t have to remove it completely but you do need to take the lower bolt out at least because the inner joint of the axle won’t fit through it
@@coreyscarrepairs thats my point, he made a step in th repair that didnt need to be done, as a flat rate tech, why?
Not worth the hassle of shimmying the axle through that fork with everything hanging. Especially when it’s just one more bolt and a southern car where the parts just fall off.
Do not use a hammer on another hammer use a punch or a drift instead and wear some eye protection.
My friend in Nc use to brag about doing alignment in 20 min.🤬
as a fellow nc mechanic. Its true lol
Dam mechanics are charging me 200 a side for this
It's really easy to DIY!
SO much of that beginning was unnecessary.
We assure you that getting the wheel off is very necessary lol.
@@CEASUSA Funny.
I'm just saying, all you need to remove is the tie rod end, disconnect that abs sensor bracket, and the two strut bolts/nuts. You don't need to remove anything else.
@@PanditaP Oh a no it all here I'm a master ASE tech 40 years and I do think the guy was spot on doing the replacement of the shaft thats just how I do them.
Oem or aftermarket axle can be use?
Aftermarket can be ;-)
@@CEASUSA any trick to know if its the left or right?
@@rankytonky It takes a good ear and feeling the car while in drive.
