    Cute pattern. I have lots of scraps that would be perfect for this.

    I decided to use a jelly roll cut 4.5" and I had a pack of white 2.5"squares. Less cutting.

    This video just popped up and I am going to cut my fabrics and make them leaders and enders at my machine while I work on another quilt. That should go pretty fast. What a great idea and thank you sharing a great easy and fast pattern.

    What a great pattern! I've just finished cutting a zillion 5 inch squares tonight for a little boy quilt, not sure of the pattern even as I cut, cut, cut, but thanks to you I now know what I'm gonna do! Im going to make this quilt with precut 2.5 inch batik squares and 8 different batiks all with some kind of dots and speckles. So pretty, maybe too pretty for a boy, but his mom will love it! Thank you for sharing!

    Not all precuts are the same. Some measure from the points on the peaks and some measure from the valleys. Always check your specific charm pack before starting your project.

    Your quilt is so lovely. I have cute charm packs and I will use them to make this quilt. Before I cut though, I wonder, can I not do that initial trim and just cut the 5 inch charm in half? I am new to quilting and don't know if not taking that 1/2 inch off first will end up being a mistake as I go along. Thank you!

    • @MaterialGirlQuilts
      @MaterialGirlQuilts  2 года назад +3

      Yes you can! If you leave those pieces at 5" x 2 1/2" it will just change your "weave" pattern a bit and make your quilt a little wider.

    Binge watching your tutorials. Would this still workif I choose not to cut 1/2 inch of printed fabric? Not trying to rewrite your pattern. I'd like to avoid making tiny bits or waste, Thank you for all your lovely tutorials, Hope to visit shop when in Indianapolis next time.

    Could you leave the charms at 5 inches? Why cut them down to 4.5?

    How can I make this pattern a twin size quilt? Like how many in the row across and down would I need to do? Thank you

  • @ELMICH31
    @ELMICH31 8 месяцев назад

    I’m wondering why you originally trimmed the 5” square to 4.5”x5”. There doesn’t seem to be any reason for this and just produces unnecessary waste.

    • @MaterialGirlQuilts
      @MaterialGirlQuilts  8 месяцев назад

      By trimming the square down to 4.5" it creates this particular "weave" design. You can certainly leave them at 5", but the weaver pattern would be a bit different and of course the finished size would be as well.

  • @janolson4579

    Can the peices be cut a different size? 2 and a half by 3 and 2 and a half by 5?

    • @MaterialGirlQuilts
      @MaterialGirlQuilts  3 года назад

      Hi Jan, if you cut the pieces a different size, it will just make your "weave" be a bit different than the quilt shown in the video. Hope that makes sense!

  • @janenoble1541
    @janenoble1541 Год назад

    What is the purpose for trimming the print charm squares to 4.5?

    • @MaterialGirlQuilts
      @MaterialGirlQuilts  Год назад

      Hi Jane, it helps create the “weave” design. You could leave them at 5”, but the design would be a little different. Hope that helps.

  • @lindabrown2868
    @lindabrown2868 2 года назад

    Why do you need to cut a half inch off seems to me still should work just fine all the blocks will be the same size.

    • @MaterialGirlQuilts
      @MaterialGirlQuilts  2 года назад

      Hi Linda, the blocks would still be the same size if you don't cut them off, however the "weave" pattern will just be a bit different.
