Bei 9. hat sich wohl ein Fehler eingeschleicht :o Des Müller Blumen findet man bei 21:33 Der Anfang von Tränenregen (10.) ist somit bei 24:52 zu finden.
I sing this, and I've listened to so many versions of this cycle, but this one is really good, and I love the way both singer and pianist change their interpretation from verse to verse on the strophic songs, really following the meaning of the text. It's a very romantic interpretation, with more rubato than I'm used to - but its very moving and Scarlata's singing is both beautiful and expressive. Kudos to Jeremy Denk too, excellent all around.

La ópera me impresiona mucha, es fantástica, porque tienen que aprenderse muchas cosas, y la ópera no es fácil de cantar así como su musicalidad no del todo es fácil, en general estuvieron increíbles estas canciones
This performance is a very unique one, as Mr Scarlata employs many ornaments unlike almost every famous singers do not. It is rather curious and interesting to see on what theoretical base Mr. Scarlata put ornaments. I do not know whether he ever studied editions including such as Diabelli-Ausgabe von 1830 which seems to show Michael Vogl's alterations. Some places Mr Scalata's execution similar to this edition and it means he must have studied seriously. The Schoenemuellerin is a song cycle of lyric poetries, in other words, a lyric drama. From this sense I like he tries to tell a story in a rather dramatic way, but I think his way of addressing is sometimes too light to express this kind of tragedy and sometimes too powerful for fortissimo. To conclude word accentuation is good, but sometimes less discipline(such as putting inferior appoggiatura in case of strong male ending). Singing style sounds like Viennese operetta style of old Austrian singers, such as Richard Tauber. Although there are many things to criticize, but I must say I am very impressed. One last thing to note, listeners may think he used Peter Edition. But less connection to the edition.
apparently youre not a professional singer if you dont force the pianist to learn the piece in another key a week before performance :D nah just kidding but for the ideal sound, the song has to be in the exact vocal range of the singer I guess
The music can be transposed to any key to accommodate the singer's range. Or to bring out a different tone colour in the singers voice. However, I think the relationship between the keys of the different songs in the same cycle should stay the same. I guess the composer may use the keys as a structural framework and an expressive tool like raising the key to indicate heightening tension between songs or a brigther mood.
It's important to notice that schubert was the first to transcribe many songs, including this cycle, so he probably didn't attach all that meaning to single tonalities
@@gersten1008I think he did a good job overall, but I believe this user only paid attention to the mistakes he made. Personally, I think Das Wandern and Des Müllers Blumen were his least well done, based on tuning alone. However, I still appreciate his effort in performing the entire cycle.

Just mistakes. This is a live performance and there are many mistakes, it's normal, good performance nevertheless.

It is not the right tone.
Not everyone’s voice sounds best in the original keys, so they need to be changed.
why bother changing the keys, might as well sing everything in c major and a minor

Is this just a general question about music? Or does it have something to do with this song cycle specifically?
