Einmalig. Einfach unübertroffen. Schade, dass es solche Tenöre es in dieser Perfektion nicht mehr gibt.

This is the finest version of the cycle I have ever heard.
The voice is ideal, and the artistry sublime.

Listening carefully to this famous cycle of lieder shows that it prefigures Schumann rather that Schubert, and indeed Schumann used it even in its instrumental music - the great piano Fantasy in C major. 💛🧡❤❤❤🧡💛

The composition indulges one in the emotion Beethoven must of felt when he gives up on love which he always desired. This performance makes it real. I love the beginning of the 6th song - beauty.

Beethoven composed this song cycle for an Austrian prince, who lost his beloved wife. The prince was terribly sad and asked Beethoven to write something for him. Soon after Beethoven published it, the prince died, too.

Sophia Andrade The text was written by Alois Jeitteles :)

The original text was written by Aloys Isidor Jeitteles, but it was never published in printing. He was an acquaintance of Beethoven and most likely gave the hand-written text to him personally, quite possibly wrote it on his request. Beethoven made a few changes in the lyrics and even added a verse to suit his own feelings towards Josephine even more. Moreover, the theme under the added verse resembles the favourite Andante piece of Beethoven (Woo 57), which essentially sings "Jo-se-phi-ne". Source: Beethoven's biography by Jan Caeyers

Thank you for this wonderful performance!
Anyhow, in the ending song, I think, the singer should avoid dramatizing. He should only make, peacefully, a cool delivery of conclusions. Not diminuendo, not crescendo, but andante tranquillo.

    • @sgut1947
      @sgut1947 Год назад +1

At 12:31, Beethoven gives directions to accelerate, arriving in the five bars at Allegro molto e con brio. The dynamics then vary widely, but generally rising to the ff at 13:30. I don't see now this can be performed andante tranquillo with calm dynamics without violating Beethoven's directions.

Quizá sea la mejor de tenor para oratorio y lied que ha existido. Y en el año 1965 D.F.Diskau no era mejor que él

Why doesn't those people keep the theme sign ?
If so, why do you show the music.
    It is vulgar.
